It’s the most wonderful time of the year…promo time! So many retailers are hoping to get an early jump on the holiday season with sales meant to entice. It’s certainly working on me! One of my favorite Fall promos is happening right now. Do you love a good pair of jeans? How about a fantastic sweater? And maybe some pretty intimates? You can score them all for amazing prices during the American Eagle Outfitters October 2018 promo!
Right now, you can take up to 30% off your American Eagle purchase! (And 31% off at Aerie.) AE may be known as a teen/college retailer but it’s no longer a secret that women of all ages find great preppy chic clothing at this store! While my girlfriends and I used to whisper to each other that we found those jeans that make her butt look amazing or that sweater that is so comfy and perfectly layerable on me, these days we smile and shout it out loud.
What makes AE and Aerie so great? It’s a combination of factors that I’ll break down throughout this post. However, to distill it down it’s the fact that AE’s clothing fits a wide range of bodies in a flattering way. They’re one of the few stores that I can reliably take my personal shopping clients of a size 0 or a size 20 and know we’ll find great items, in-store. Take that, other retailers!
Every season, American Eagle delivers great basics. From layering pieces to jackets to jeans, I love knowing that I can shop AE’s site and come away with fantastic foundation closet pieces.
For instance, the AE Long Sleeve Layering Top (now $20, above in green) is such a simple piece, isn’t it? And yet so many retailers are getting this top wrong — it’s too short, or the sleeves are too short, or the stripes are the wrong balance, or the material sucks. AE simply gets it right. It feels so wonderful to have that reliability from a retailer. Especially now when many clothing stores feel like carbon copies of each other!
The layering pieces don’t stop with long sleeve tees. I also own and love the Lace Trim Tank Top ($20), the Raw Edge Waffle Henley ($25) and the Square Neck Tank Top ($20). Several of AE and Aerie’s high neck bras and bralettes make excellent layering pieces too, especially under sweaters or flannel.
Take a look at some of my favorite AE and Aerie layering pieces in the American Eagle Outfitters October 2018 promo, all on promo through Monday.
Beyond layering, another basic American Eagle Outfitters gets right is jeans. They have the most amazing jeans that rival denim 3 or 4 times the prices. Last year I invested in several pairs of AE jeans including the Denim X Jegging Crop in mint (now $30), the Ne(X)t Level High-Waisted Jegging in dusty sage ($38), the the very Fall-ready Ne(X)t Level Super High-Waisted Jegging in icy repair ($53) and the lined, Winter-perfect Ne(X)t Level High Waisted Jegging in up all night ($53). Those jeans have all held up so well and I especially love the higher waist jeans which fit over my butt comfortably without riding down to my hips midday. I’ll be adding some photos of me in my AE jeans to my Shoppable outfits page later today!
It’s no wonder then that I have a few pairs of jeans on my wishlist for the American Eagle Outfitters October 2018 promo too! Specifically I’m eyeing the moto stylings of the Jegging in faded black ($49) and the non-destructed Jeggings in monaco blue (now $30). You’ll find so many more denim and pant options in the shoppable boutique concluding this post.
It’s been so hard to find pretty and comfy (non-itchy) sweaters these last couple of years. The American Eagle Outfitters October 2018 promo is full of beautiful preppy chic options! AE has a very cute Fair Isle Pullover Sweater ($50, shown above in cream) while sister store Aerie has its own Fair Isle Tunic Sweater ($42) that comes in navy or cream. Fair Isle also makes it to these adorable sweater leggings. Did I mention that they have llamas on them in one print??!? LLAMAS. Take my money now, AE!!
That’s just where the sweater fun begins! From tiny polka dots to rugby stripes to pointelle pullovers, AE and Aerie are bringing sweater goodness back this year like it’s sexy or something. I plan to wrap myself up on chilly mornings in the Pointelle Knit Hooded Cardigan in oatmeal ($55) and the Aerie Easy Cardigan in cream (now $42). More sweater ideas in the shoppable boutique down at the end of this post.
What pairs perfectly with a sweater? If you’re Aerie, the answer is a cute pair of undies and perhaps a bralette. Who am I to argue when the choices are so good? Aerie is one of the few stores where I can find a supportive bralette. They’re supportive enough to wear around the apartment after work, and even out to run a quick errand if needed. As a 32DD that’s impressive!!
I have my favorites. The Lace Racerback Bralette ($15) has thick, supportive straps and a thicker band, yet still looks delicate and feminine. Ditto the Softest Lace Bralette ($15). I was surprised by how well the Romantic Lace Padded Bralette ($15) holds me! The Real Me Bralette ($21) comes highly recommended, and I’m also excited to try the Chill Corduroy High Neck Bralette ($15)!!
Aerie has plenty of undie choices, from the playful to the lacey to the practical. I myself lean towards the cheeky shape, which is a little higher in back than the boyshort and a little better at staying up over my hips than the bikinis. I pretty much live in the Lace Cheeky Undie ($12 or $35/10).
You could easily make American Eagle Outfitters and Aerie your one-stop shop for Fall and Winter. They’ve got you covered from coats to jeans to shoes to intimates. Below, all my picks for the American Eagle Outfitters October 2018 promo.
I was trying to avoid this post knowing I'd be tempted lol. This mama of 2 boys loves AE clothing! Love that striped layering top you have in the post and like you I have several pairs of their jeans. The sweater dresses look very cute. I might have to order one.

Ha! I know how that is Missy. I agree the sweater dresses look SO cute. Stalking those now.
Some of these remind me of old Anthro! The fair isle sweaters are lovely. I like all the stripes.

Yeah a little bit Lauren! It's nice to see Fair Isle and lots of colors. I stopped into the Soho AE today and was impressed with the selection. It's helpful having so many AE/Aerie stores in the city.
AE’s Tomgirl jeans are the best. They’d look great with your sweater picks! I like the cable and the striped sweaters. How do their sweaters run Roxy? I own a few of their tops but no sweaters.

One of my main photographers wears the Tomgirl jeans and she loves them too! That's not my favorite jean cut but maybe I should give them a try…?
AE's sweaters are generally true to size to a bit large — I take my usual medium in almost all of them.
Great post Roxy, I like so many of these selections!

Thank you Jess! I'm so glad you enjoyed the post. 🙂 Any items in particular you're really liking?
I love the Llama leggings hehe!!
I didn’t realize American Eagle carried shoes! I do see lots of cute stuff. Thanks Roxy, I’ll be buying some gifts I think.

Excellent Lindsey! What are you thinking of ordering?
Great post!!! My college age children shop at AE and when there I always pick up an item or two. I must say their jeans are great and do hold up (through college washes). And while we are all about women's wear, they also have good men's wear. Their Khaki's are great as are their thermals and sweats for me. And finally from time to time they have great rock tees that rival those at 10 times their price.

That's so true Shari, they do have really good men's stuff. I took a male personal shopping client there — he'd just graduated college and was about to start his first job. He needed some basics and AE was the perfect place to take him.
You had a post last year about their bralettes that caught my attention and now I am hooked on all their lingerie, great prices and selection. I'm an in between size for bras typically and many are too tight or too loose around my rib cage, or don't work with my cup size, they have something for everyone.
Author
I'm delighted to hear that Teri Lynn! I am having problems with bras right now too, I seem to be in between cup sizes and it's annoying as heck. Bralettes are the most comfy thing right now.
Roxy have you tried any of the Don't Ask Why items at AE? The striped dress looks so cute but I can't decide if the one size will fit. We have similar body shapes.

I saw that dress and did try it on! It runs pretty small — I don't think I could make it work without Spanx and minimal movement lol. The skirt from that collab is MUCH better and fits great.
Here's the dress, which would probably fit a size small best: http://bit.ly/2OLtS5o

It's true!! Just this year I've returned to AE, realizing that their stuff isn't just for juniors. Falling in love all over again! They have a great rewards program too!
Author
Their rewards program is SO GOOD Amelia. Yesterday they were offering 35% off exclusively for rewards members. It's totally worth it!

They have become my new goto store at our mall. Not only do they have tons of cute jeans and casual tops, their stores are well linked to their online site and if there is something you want that's not in stock at the store, the salespeople can have it shipping to your door with a few clicks. I have come to love their jeans because they fit well and I can always find a pair I like. I love the offerings at Aerie as well!

Yup. This is how I feel too.
Thanks for posting this – I wasn't aware of the sale and my daughter needed some clothes.

Hi ladies! So sorry I haven’t gotten a new post up — but it’s for good reason! We just put my parents’ house on the market and we got an offer almost immediately! I had to run up to CT to take care of some things the realtor needed. Back in the city now and will have a post up sometime this week, but if I go MIA for a few more days I apologize in advance.
