Email: If you must, ship them back (on Anthro)

Anthropologie visited our inboxes today with an email announcing the arrival of their new shoe lineup. And just to spice things up a little bit they also announced that return shipping will be free on all shoes through March 31, 2011. This in effect saves the cost of the “SmartLabel” that Anthropologie sends with all online/customer service/catalogue orders.

To me, this news is meh. I’m lucky enough to have three Anthropologies in town that carry shoes. If the pair I want is not in-store, I still have to pay at least $12 in shipping fees just to try on shoes. I would likely use this offer to order two sizes in a shoe to make sure I get the right size. But then I’m looking at $15-$20 shipping and still only saving $6…I dunno. It’s great to see Anthropologie trying a promotion of sorts but this once doesn’t really appeal to me. I’m of the opinion that returns should always be free. Free shipping on shoes would be much more appealing.

All that said, I plan on ordering a pair of shoes from Anthro’s site later this month so this offer could end up helping me. Will you take advantage of this offer? Below are some of the shoes I’m currently in love with.

Lace Lover’s Booties ($138) by FarylRobin

This is one of my favorite shoe brands — I am still so bummed I missed out on their blogger lunch in NYC last month! I swooned over these booties in my January wishlist so I won’t retread too much here, except to say that I just adore these booties and love that they are ready for multi-season use.

Open Spaces Wedges ($168) by Lucky Penny

This is another pair from my January wishlist. Made by one of Anthropologie’s in-house brands, these wedges felt very comfortable when I tried them on recently. I love the open middle — it looks great with brown-colored tights. Come summer you can wear them against bare skin comfortably. The choice of accents is right on too. I love the metal pin that closes the top strap.

For sizing reference, I am normally a 9 and took a 40 in these shoes.

Ski Slope Wedges ($178) by Lucky Penny

I tried these on during an impromptu personal shopping appointment at Soho a few weeks ago. I wasn’t confident in the high wedge but found these to be comfy on. The sole is very thin though so I imagine these are not all-day shoes. I recently bought a very similar wedge that resembles a Chloe pair I’d lusted after and I expected to see other shoes like this soon. This pair has its beautiful blue shade going for it as well as the thick laces which I love.

For sizing reference, I am normally a 9 and took a 40 in these shoes.

Palmerston Boots ($248) by J Shoes

I have not tried these on, but love how they looked in the “Shoe Story” video from a couple of months ago. I don’t usually go for the tougher boots but the pleated tabs I do adore. Reviewers noted the thin sole so I doubt I’ll spring at full price. Hopefully these get marked down while my size is still available.

Thanks to everyone who emailed me about this!
