Reviews: Leifsdottir x 2, Emerald Cascade Blouse

I am positively drooling over these two Leifsdottir blouses. I know the cut and style are not to everyone’s taste but I say bring on the flowy! I love that the big banded hem means you can make these as billowy as you want and they have an easy, life-of-the-party-without-overdoing-it vibe to them that I love. Both blouses are the same cut with different prints on them. They feature a small x-v-neck detail and split dolman sleeves with tiny buttons.

The first top is the Prized Bloom Blouson ($228). This print is nothing short of amazing although completely not winter-appropriate. For New York anyway. I suppose they could be considering warmer climates with this top. This top is 100% luxurious silk. I really don’t have one bad thing to say about it. I love the sleeves, I love the drape, I love the pring. I tried on the 8 (one size up) but it was too big. I’d buy this in my normal 6 for sure. But I’d probably search online for a better deal on this one. (Sorry Anthro.)

Everything I said about the Prized Bloom Blouse could easily be cut and pasted for the Damara Blouse ($228). The zebra print? Adore it. This shirt is a mustard yellow with tiny black dots all over it. It’s also slightly sheer…my black bra is peeping through a bit. I do wish there was a version of this top without a super bold print but then I suppose it wouldn’t really be Leifsdottir now would it? This collection was inspired by world travel and you can really see the theme coming through.

Once again I tried on a size 8 and once again I would buy in my true size 6. I think the model shot at the top of this post (from Neiman Marcus) really illustrates how alluring this top can be. It’s a going out option for sure.

Another drapey top comes courtesy of Odille. This is the Emerald Cascade Blouse ($88). Anthro calls this “nearly sheer.” I’d call it “no really, it’s sheer.” My pale tummy was showing through. I’d recommend tying the sash on this one in front as the product shot does. I tried but the sash was so tangled around it’s side holders that I gave up and tied it back so I could snap the shots. This isn’t really an issue with the shirt, it was more that I had about 20 items to try on.

I knew I’d need to size up in this one so I tried an 8. It’s…not really working on me. The wide waist band is supposed to be sitting on my waist. Not so much! Odille cut this for a shorter torso than mine. I like the cowlneck and the sleeves, both of which draped very nicely on me. Overall though I feel like I tried to squeeze into something two sizes too small. No thanks. A 10 wouldn’t work here because it’d be too loose above and below the band. A pass for me but worth a try-on if you like the beautiful pattern.

Great reviews! I'm totally drooling over the Leifsdottir blouses. But I would choose the Prized Bloom Blouson. I saw it at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago, I'm not sure I'm big fan of the zebra but it still very beautiful. I'll keep watching when they go on sale possibly at Nordstrom or Bloomie before Anthro puts it on sale. The Emerald Cascade Blouse might not work on me either. Did you get anything from today's sale?

I did, I confess I bought the Inverness Trench and have the Hollyhock Dress on hold in Soho. I'll pick that up tomorrow — my third time there in as many days.

I *LOVE* the zebra top on you. I think the color and print compliments you very well. I hate Leifsdottir. No, I mean, I really love the brand, but I hate the prices. Hate it! But they use such beautiful fabric, and their pieces are so unique. When something calls to you from their line, it really calls to you.And yes, I agree, the Odille top is sheer, really, it is.

I'm kind of in love with the prized bloom blouse but not the price tag. Hopefully it will find it's way to Loehmann's or the Rack so it can become mine 🙂

That was a nice trench 🙂 I agree Leifsdottir is expensive even on sale but they make really good stuff, unique and good quality. I've loved everything I've gotten from them, the brand has become a favorite of mine.

It's sad but I'm so desensitized to the prices at this point. I see $228 on a price tag and I think "oh that's not so bad" when really I should be thinking "that's more than your monthly car payment was." This is why I'm back on a budget.
