Dear community, please help pick a dress!

Ladies, I come to you asking for help! Community member Sharon wrote in to me over the weekend:

Roxy! I’ll be attending a wedding for new years eve this year. It’ll be an evening spectacular beginning at 8 pm. If you get a chance, would you (and some of your readers maybe) help me figure out which dress to wear and how to wear them? This is sort of a big ‘first impression’ meeting with some fashionable ladies that are friends with my significant other. Given that, I want to look smashing for both him and them.

My options are…

Anthropologie’s First Dawn Dress

Anthropologie’s Ice Breaker Dress

J.Crew’s Silk Evening Primrose Brynn dress

Thoughts? Comments? Anything would help.

So fashionable community, what do you think? I’ll cast my vote at the end so as not to influence the input. Your opinion is needed!

I would pick the "Frost" (first choice) dress. So glitzy and NYE to me; also wedding appropriate. I'm in need of a NYE dress myself and am now busy envying this one!

I agree with the first choice. Gorgeous and memorable!

  3. December 15, 2009 / 6:43 pm

I think the first choice is very New Year's Eve, but I think it is a little too much if that makes sense. I own the Ice Breaker Dress and love it! It is very flattering and worth it. I wore it as my getaway dress at my wedding, so that's what one caught my eye!

I vote for #1. If it's a wedding & NYE, there will be tons of glitz. I think the Frost will fit right in. Have fun!

Omigosh, the Ice Breaker dress is a total showstopper. Depending on how flattering it is on you, I would totally go that route.

The first is the most appropriate and beautiful. Have fun! Kathleen

#1 is my pick for a New Year's event!

  8. December 15, 2009 / 7:01 pm

Im going to stray from the crowd and say #3, I just really like it.though 1 really does fit realllly well with new years.

  9. December 15, 2009 / 7:07 pm

Option 1 for sure! I know someone who wore the ice breaker dress to a formal event recently and it actually looked kind of blah. Weird, right? They're all beautiful, though!

I would go with #1. It's unique without being too edgy, plus the metallic print makes it PERFECT for New Year's Eve.I like the Ice Breaker dress but I could it having the potential to fall flat (depending on the tastes of these "fashionable" people that you are hoping to impress).

The first one for sure. I love it! I love the other two as well, but the first is so winter festive.

  12. December 15, 2009 / 7:38 pm

My vote is for the First Dawn Dress! It's so pretty!

I think option #3 (j.crew) is the best choice. I agree with j.l.k's opinion of choice #1- it is a bit too much. I think #3 would be beautiful for her event paired with the right accessories.

I love the first one! It just says "New Year's Eve" to me.

  16. December 15, 2009 / 8:43 pm

dawn's frost dress! it's got that flair and sparkle for new years and it's wedding appropriate 🙂 all it needs is some nice jewelry. the other dresses are lovely too but the frost dress is def. the winner 😉

The First Dawn dress. It looks the most "New Years-y" to me.

  20. December 15, 2009 / 9:26 pm

I love both the Anthro dresses, but my vote is for the 1st dress. It's more wedding/NY eve to me.

  21. December 15, 2009 / 9:30 pm

My vote goes for the First Dawn Dress!! It's got a unique look and I think will definitely stand out!Dea

    Silk Evening Primrose

  23. December 15, 2009 / 9:50 pm

It's a toss up between #1 and #3 for me – they are both gorgeous. But, considering it's new years eve, I'd have to say #1!

dear community -thanks so much for your input! i really appreciate it. sounds like the first dress is the pick. after looking over the dresses again, i agree. i'm off to find some nice black nylons/tights to go with the black heels i'll be wearing. i'll also have earrings and a bracelet to go with the ensemble, which will be finished off with a cardigan or wrap. thanks again for your help. if you have other ideas that you think might go well with this ensemble, please let me know. thanks again!- sharon
