The best of what’s on sale at Anthropologie: clothing

Good morning ladies! As hoped, there have been numerous additions to sale this morning. This includes some curiously new items such as the Balcony Tee (now $48) which only appeared on the website last week! (I noticed this item was on sale over the weekend too…could it be a test?) There are a few gems in here…for example, if you were waiting for a lower price to buy the Diaphanous Tunic (now $40), well I think that time is here! Also, it’s gone from online but the Inverness Trench (review here) is finally on sale for $100. Soho had a full stock as of yesterday, I’ll report back on sizes later this morning. Scroll down for more and let me know what you’re getting in the comments. For me, it’s the Hollyhock Dress (now $90) and maybe a couple of full-price jewelry pieces. Happy hunting!

how come these items aren't showing up on my sale page? I had to scroll through the regular priced section to see them!!

  2. December 15, 2009 / 12:48 pm

Hi Anon, the sale section usually updates between 8 and 9 AM EST.

  3. December 15, 2009 / 1:12 pm

Thanks Roxy! BTW, the Sidestep skirt was $19.95 at the Burlington Mall in MA this past weekend, vs $49.95 online. Plus, I saw some things that were sold out online (and used to be on sale), but in the store were at full price. Do you think I could have gotten them to sell to me for sale??– Kitty

Hey, Roxy! Since you mentioned jewelry: I'm so sorry if you've already answered this question for someone else, but have you seen the Pessinus Garden necklace in any of the stores in NY? I'm pretty sure it's not back in stock yet on the website (blasted homepage redirect!), and I haven't seen it in my store. I want it!

  5. December 15, 2009 / 1:22 pm

Kit Yue, in my experience stores will match online sale prices and vice versa, so long as you can show them proof of the price.Autumn – Not yet. 🙁 I am keeping an eye out for it though, I know there are several of us who want it!

It seems the in store prices are cheaper than the online prices, maybe they did a second cut.

  8. December 15, 2009 / 3:00 pm

I love the first 2 dresses! I wish I had someplace to wear them.

  9. December 15, 2009 / 3:14 pm

Hi Roxybought the stay sail blue dress.the only prob is it is a little summery for Ma. what do you think would be a good layering piece with itThanksAli

  10. December 15, 2009 / 3:22 pm

Swung by Soho and they have the Inverness Trench in sizes 4-10 (one of each), except for the size 8 which I just snagged. Sorry to any other size 8's out there! It's $100 in-store. The SAs were still working on some second cuts so I didn't get a chance to do recon. I will probably swing by 5th Ave after work to see what the deal is there. If anyone sees a 2nd cut please let us know! (Especially the Lady-of-Seville Tank, hint hint.)

  11. December 15, 2009 / 3:22 pm

since the 2 dresses i wanted sold out in my size, i caved and decided to try the devoted doggedly cardigan. i was never able to try this on in stores but with anthro's awesome return policy, i figured why not! the reviews were mixed, but it just looks so cute on the model! i got that and the brown snakebite belt 🙂

  12. December 15, 2009 / 3:27 pm

Natalie I have heard great things about that Ruffian coat. I know Gigi loves it too!Anon @ 9:33 sorry to hear about the budget busting. I think it balances out over the rest of the year. I hope you like the tunic.Anon @ 9:57 – do you know any of the items that got a 2nd cut?briannelee – I agree they are beautiful. 🙂 It's hard to pick from all the pretty Anthro dresses.ali – you could do a striped or solid crewneck in any neutral color (grey, brown, blue, etc.) I will add you to my polyvore list too.tippy – I am so curious about that cardi! Let us know how it works out.

  13. December 15, 2009 / 3:33 pm

  14. December 15, 2009 / 3:41 pm

argghgh hollyhock! i bought mine well over 2 weeks ago and haven't even worn it yet. oh well . . .

  15. December 15, 2009 / 4:05 pm

crazy shipping! they keep splitting my order, once into 2 and 2 and another time it was 3 and 1. i'm actually leaving for vacay with bf's family to taiwan and japan and i wanted to overnight this stuff since my store was out of my size. anyways i had to keep putting my stuff on my wishlist, re adding it, check to see if they split it and then repeat. FINALLY the last time i did that my order (4 items) was all together to ship overnight. whew. crazy how they keep wanting to split my order into two and charge me two shipping prices! i got the diaphonous (sp?) blouse, gathered together dress in green (WOOHOO! was one of my sale wishlist items), Staysail shirt dress in blue and the season span shorts. good luck to everyone! i'm even going to the store to check things out tonight

Ahhhhh…sale…I probably shouldn't buy anything for myself…it's so hard! Gotta…control…myself..Roxy…do you think they'll have more sales after the holidays? Hope so.

  17. December 15, 2009 / 4:09 pm

Yay! I had been wanting the Abydos dress but I wasn't too excited about spending over $200 on it… What a pleasant surprise 🙂

  18. December 15, 2009 / 4:13 pm

Hazel that is crazy about the shipping! I hope everything arrives quickly and safely.Sharon – be strong! If this year is any indication January will be a decent sales month too at the beginning, though then it will quiet down.Lola – Yay! It's a nice feeling when something you were waiting for goes on sale.

Roxy, I'm staying strong today (or really trying to). The sales are good but there are other Anthro things that I want more that are not on sale. I want the Diaphanous Tunic but I have plenty of tunics in my closet (The justification I keep saying to myself lol). I spent quite a bit of money for the holidays and at Anthro the past couple of months. I need to stay on budget 🙁 I still want the Sevillle tank but I want a second cutoff in the price. I'm hoping the sale things I want sell out so I'm not tempted anymore.

  20. December 15, 2009 / 5:15 pm

I just ordered the Diaphanous Tunic! Yay! Now I need to find a long cami to go under…

  21. December 15, 2009 / 5:59 pm

Ooh…looks like I'll be heading into my Anthro store today. I've got a return anyway, so good excuse. Has anyone tried the Rippled Pools necklace? It's been on my wish list forever and just popped back. However, I'm reluctant to pull the trigger. I haven't seen it in any stores. I'm also waiting for the Pessinus Garden necklace.

  22. December 15, 2009 / 6:09 pm

Roxy – when you swing by the store today, would you look for the Diaphanous Tunic in Lilac, Size 0 for me? I want to rebuy this one (especially after seeing how you styled it!) and I'm having a hard time finding it! Thanks 🙂

  23. December 15, 2009 / 7:21 pm

Wow, it's amazing to see how many of us are waiting for that Pessinus Garden Necklace. I really hope it comes back… Perhaps if we all send e-mails to Anthro asking about that necklace, they'll be more likely to re-stock.

  24. December 15, 2009 / 8:17 pm

Stephanie I think you have a good chance of not missing items. (yay grammatically horrible sentence!) I think most of us are in gift-only mode at this point. Plus we'll help you stalk the items you want later. :)Christine – congrats! American Apparel has great long tanks. Old Navy too — though their colors have been pretty drab this year.kornrose – I saw this necklace in-store recently and it's large! But very pretty. Quality seemed decent.Kim – Absolutely. Lola – Agreed. Bring on the Pessinus Anthro!!! (Pretty please.)

  25. December 15, 2009 / 8:37 pm

Here's what I sent to Anthro RE: The Pessinus Garden Necklace:Hi,I was wondering whether there is any chance of the Pessinus Garden necklace coming back in stock. I was really excited when I noticed it in the "Delicate Dustings" feature on your website, but it disappeared before I had the chance to purchase one for myself (I was waiting to combine it with another order so that I could take advantage of your free shipping promotion). I've heard at least 4 of my Anthropologie-obsessed friends say similar things – we all want that Pessinus Garden necklace! I think that if you were to get more in stock, you'd have no trouble selling them. Anyway, I just thought I would check because I've been really hoping to get my hands on one. Thanks,Lola

Roxie, I caved hahaha I had to buy the tunic its been on my wishlist since it came out I also got the snake belt (also a wishlist item).

  27. December 15, 2009 / 10:06 pm

I fell in love with Eventide dress yesterday, which was on sale for $99 (from $188). I got a size 2, which was a tad tight, so this morning I called another nearby Anthro and had them pull a 4 for me. I literally jumped for joy in the dressing room when I saw it had been reduced again to $49.95. So obvs I exchanged the 2 and got a really pretty serving bowl for $30. FYI, the Anthro in UTC in La Jolla has a huge sale section today- spilling out of the back room.

I had previously purchased the Diaphanous Tunic in lilac and returned it for budgetary reasons and have stuff I loved more. I had been waiting for it to go on sale and called and had the store hold a 6 for me (YAY). I ended up buying the New Academia skirt and am shaped similarly to you and needed to size up to a 10, as per your review although the 8 did fit. Looks much better in the larger size. It is great and yes, I paid full price, but it's special. Now stop tempting me Roxy!

  32. December 16, 2009 / 2:40 am

Lola – great email. 🙂 I hope others follow suit!Stephanie – I understand. I hope you enjoy both. 🙂 (I'm sure you will.)Molly Darling – that is my favorite, when an item is marked down even lower than you think. Nice score! And thanks for the update on La Jolla. Soho's sale section is also huge at the moment. 5th Ave is about normal size and wild horses couldn't drag me to Rockefeller Center at the moment. (Though um, a Pessinus Necklace could.)Anon @ 5:18 & 5:55 – thank you for the reports! I missed 5th Ave today but hopefully will make it there tomorrow to report. Anon @ 8:15 – Anthro is notoriously slow to add 2nd cuts online. Sometimes it's up to a week after they appear in stores.Bronzi – I am a terrible enabler, it's true. Much as I want you here and commenting if it gets really bad I sometimes take a break from reading any blog that's driving me to overspend. I am tempted every day to buy something while writing posts. I consider this blog to be fun but I'd hate to be pushing people past what their budgets can bear. Hope that isn't too much of a downer, but it is how I feel.

Roxy: now I feel bad, but I agree with you. I've been looking to add some additional skirts to my fall/winter wardrobe and this skirt fit the bill. Yes, its tempting, but unless something is special, I'm just enjoying vicariously what others are scooping up and waiting for other things to go on sale. And no, your response was not a downer, just true…..

roxy, did you see any of the boots in any of the nyc stores? 🙁 i'm tempted to order the "road not taken" boots!

  37. December 16, 2009 / 6:09 am

San Francisco store had Inverness trenches for $99, don't know sizes, also had snakebite belts: one gray small and a few brown mediums and maybe other sizes, not on sale, but still! Tried the red Madchen coat which I love but even a Large was not big enough in the bust. I am usually a 12 but could not make that coat work! Gorgeous!

  38. December 16, 2009 / 3:23 pm

Anon @ 11:19 – Both Soho and Rockefeller Center have boots in-store. I am not sure about the Road Not Taken Boots; I don't think I've seen them in-store but I'd have to check again. That was no help I know. Margaret – thank you for the report from San Francisco!
