Guest post: Reviews by Ali

Thank you again to Ali, who kindly offered to do another guest reviews post! I appreciate it very much while I’m on the road. If you’re interested in doing a guest post please email me. I’ll have my own take on these items over the weekend, except for the Best In Show Blouse ($128) which was reviewed in this post.

The first item I tried on was this Sprinkling-Of-Pink Jacket ($128) by Elevenses. It has a lot of pretty feminine details such as a black and white polka dot lining. I thought it fit true to size with my usual size 6. The jacket fastens with hook and eyes and has a snug fit. It is cute with a sort of a Doris Day vibe. Although it has a peplum, I found it to be flattering on. I took a pic of the jacket so you could see the cute tie in back.

I tried on the gorgeous and lovely Best In Show Blouse ($128) from Odille. It is very well made and fits TTS (true to size). It has a beaded applique at the shoulder which is a nice touch. This is the type of item which I go to Anthro to find.

Next is the Fairy Cake Dress ($158) by Floreat. Well, all I can say is that it looked cute on the hanger. On me, not so much. The dress is made of a cotton poplin material with some cute faux gems under the bust. I wore the size 8 and the top felt like it would lead to a wardrobe mishap for sure. The skirt was ultra pouffy and looked like it was straight out of the wardrobe for Grease.

This dress I am calling most originally, the yellow dress by Lil. I did not see it on the website. I wore a size 2 in it which is very bizarre. This runs big as i usually am a 6 or 8 in a dress depending on the top. I thought the fit was flattering. The thing I liked the most was it came with a slip which is useful as the fabric is sheer. The dinky belt it came with was pretty useless. It was priced at $168 which is fair (here’s the tag for reference). Although I would wait for sale as I cant say it was a must have for me.

I think the Fairy Cake Dress is darling in general- and it looks good on you- just loosk a little too big- some alterations would make that look GREAT on you, I think.

I love the Fairy Cake dress, just not for me. My friend tried it on & it was just darling on her, although she needs it hemmed. I ended up finding it on ebay for half the store price, and it is authentic- she couldn't afford it full price.

I like the fairy cake dress better than the other one (including the poufy skirt, which I don't think looks too poufy at all). The color of the other one doesn't seem so flattering on the skin tone.

I ***love*** the fairy cake dress on you! You look amazing! I think the size looks great. To be honest, I think a lot of the time the fit of your clothes looks a bit snug/unflattering. A lot of your choices might be even better if you sized up. Maybe the garments aren't stretching to fit… but they kind of look uncomfortable. Just a thought! Hopefully it doesn't offend. I love your blog and check it out all the time. You are adorable! 😀
