Reviews: On-A-Wing Blouse, Raveneli Blouse, Best In Show Blouse

I just love the shape of the On-A-Wing Blouse ($148) by Byron Lars Beauty Mark. The windswept shape combined with the light as a feather pattern make for a sophisticated offering.

This top was nothing short of glamorous on. I didn’t button all the buttons (there are plenty, and for trying on purposes I hope you’ll forgive me). I sized up to an 8 to allow extra room for my bust. I think cup sizes under a C will find this top true to size (I’m a 34D). It will require a bit of fussing to get the shirt to drape correctly once it’s on. I didn’t mess with it too much but I think the 3rd shot from left does a good job of illustrating how great this top can look.

The shirt is lined which is a good idea under the light pink voile. It definitely strikes me as a dress-up top. Maybe with the right jeans this could be dressed down a bit but it seems tailor made for going out. I want it! On the wishlist.

Girls From Savoy made the lovely Raveneli Blouse ($128) nice and long for which I thank them. There’s a lot going on at the neckline with the tieneck and ruffled drop collar. The New England-recalling scallop shells almost look like balloons falling down the top. At first I thought these looked like Pepperidge Farm Goldfish.

My true size 6 fit loosely but I would not size down because a 4 would be too fitted on my hips. The silk is nice and smooth though it’s also just a bit sheer — my blue bra was showing through. This top is a great work option and has a very classic look to it. Another wishlist addition!

Odille gives the wrap top a try with its Best In Show Blouse ($128). Apologies if this sounds crass but Anthropologie always seems to make their wrap tops boobalicious. Great for date night — not so practical work. This top isn’t as revealing as some of the tops I’ve tried on here. I sized up to an 8 for some extra coverage but I’d still have to wear a cami underneath this for work.

The sash on this top is awesome! It makes the perfect bow. I also like the shoulder embellishment though it made the right side of the shirt fussy. Flutter sleeves are not my favorite but they work very well on this top. I’m probably going to pass on this one due to the low v, but it’s very pretty and of high quality. I’d recommend it.

I think the first top is my favorite on you. If you get a chance, could you review the sun dot dress? I'm literally drooling over it but I *hate* paying shipping on something that might not work out.

Love On-a-Wing Blouse! Looks great on you too. LOL re: boobalicious tops – maybe Giada's husband designed those!

Roxy – the On-A-Wing Blouse looks fantastic on you! I'll be honest, I wasn't loving it as much as everyone else in the catalog, but you've sold me on it 🙂

The first top looks fabulous on you! I made a trip to Anthro at Tysons, Va last night, and they didn't have any of these new arrivals…how disappointing!

I love both the On a Wing Blouse and the Best in Show blouse on you! They look really pretty, and I commend your strength to put them on your wishlist and not straight into your hands (I have not been that strong lately, lol)!

I'm really liking the on-a-wing blouse- it's growing on me. I'm a sucker for pale pink and feathers.

I *love* the on-a-wing top on you! 🙂 I was wondering if you could try on the Celebratory Blouse next time? It's the blue confetti top with red lining. Thanks!

Roxy, the "On-a-Wing Blouse" looks amazing on you. That is a contender for your birthday $$. Super flattering and chest minimizing while playing up your slender waist, plus it is classic, you could wear it for many years. I think the Raveneli blouse is adorable (I've tried it on too) but now that I see the pics of it, I wonder if it looks a bit too "clownish"? Too much with the print and the ruffle and the bow? I think that neckline looks nicer in the "Lime Green Dress" than it does in the print. Just my 2 cents…Thank you for the reviews! I wish I lived closer to an Anthro…Oh, for anyone looking for the Budding T-straps, they are on sale now, 1/2 price. Call CS to find out which stores near you might still have a pair they can ship to you. I had just happened to call about them and they went on sale yesterday. $69 now!!! I am hoping I can squeeze my 9.5 feet into the 9, or at least get them stretched…

I love the Raveneli blouse. I think the ruffles, tie, and print are soooo lovely. I think it looks a little more subtle in real life, since it's the same pattern all over. It seems to play down the neck. I love the On A Wing Blouse on you. It's making me reconsider it…

Ugh! I wish I'd waited for this post before ordering the on-a-wing blouse! I'd have sized up. That said, it looks awesome on you! Makes your waist look teeny tiny without making the boobage look matronly. It's pricey but it's one of those timeless pieces that I'd regret NOT buying.

  19. January 7, 2010 / 9:45 pm

Can you return shoes to an Anthro store that doesn't carry shoes?

  20. January 7, 2010 / 9:49 pm

I love the On-A-Wing Blouse on you! I just added it to my Wish List 🙂

sara22182 – Yes, you can return shoes to Anthro stores that do no carry shoes. I asked them one time what they do with them since I return my shoes to my stores and they don't carry shoes. They said that they ship them other stores that carry shoes.

I looooved the first two tops when I saw them, and glad to know that they work for those of us who are more busty. I had the same thoughts you had about the second – perfect for work. I'm always looking for a quirky addition!

FYI, for anyone in San Diego, Nordstrom Rack had a ton of leifsdottir tops & dresses in, mixed in the racks- great prices. Also, snagged a pair of Seychelles for $19 at Loehmann's. There was at least one size 9 left.

  24. January 7, 2010 / 11:56 pm

Holy crap, that On-a-Wing blouse is *stunning*!

Diem, That is the first I've heard of any stores doing that. Whenever we received shoe returns, they would remain in our stock room, to be pulled out for customers if they had a specific request, or if we knew that we had the perfect pair in their size to match what they were trying on.

Roxy, do you think the pink blouse would work for work with a pencil skirt? or is it too over the top in person?

  27. January 8, 2010 / 2:50 am

hey roxy! thanks for these reviews. i am on a time out from anthro (only until next week lol) but i'm eager to see more of the new arrivals in person. btw, i am hosting a valentine's day swap on my blog. i got the idea from the freepeople blog and i'd love for you to participate :)p.s. glad you like the calendar!

  28. January 8, 2010 / 3:02 am

Anon @ 8:47 it would work very well with a pencil skirt. It's substantial in real life but I wouldn't say it's over the top. Just dressy.Oooh tippy I will participate for sure! If you want to promote here just let me know.

Thanks so much for trying posting those reviews! I was wavering on the on-a-wing blouse, and this really helps to tip my decision in favor of buying it. How much room is there in the bust? I'm trying to figure out what size would fit (and I live nowhere near any anthropologie). For my reference, I typically wear a 32D/34C bra and 22.5 inch waist. I usually go for 0's at anthro, but size up to a 2 if the bust is too tight. I REALLY wish that I could try this on first.

  30. January 8, 2010 / 12:20 pm

Hi Anon, I think that C cups and above will be uncomfortable in their true size. Would a 0 fit over your bust? Probably, but there would be a lot of pulling against the fabric and I can't imagine that would be much fun.

  31. January 8, 2010 / 4:17 pm

Boob-a-lcious on you roxy because you have *them*. If I go in there with my 34-A self, eve in a 0 or an XS all you would see is bare chest. LOL! It looks great on you. I LOVE LOVE LOVE, how you know your shape and what works on you. That is the reason I keep coming back because you are an excellent reviewer and you would never put on anything that’s not flattering. Thanks so much!
