Email: anthro in our own words

This month’s anthro: in our own words newsletter features styling advice straight from the horse’s mouth. Anthropologie chose three popular items from 2009 and made complete looks around them. Curiously the second item they chose is a home item (the Rosette Bedding) to make this look. For me the best part is that the first and third outfits have bags included. Finally I have a sizing frame of reference for the Alfresco Bag ($148) and the Seeds & Petals Bag ($168)!

Anthro’s also offering up their own stylists for social media outfit ideas. Just pick any item you’d like to see styled and shoot an email to the anthro crew now through January 11. They’ll keep requests anonymous. Then check their Facebook page to see if they styled your item. Be sure to let them know that Effortless Anthro sent ya. 😉

Hi! I stumbled on your site a few weeks ago after finding a skirt in a thrift store that I just knew was Anthro, but b/c I haven't got all the labels memorized, I had to go online to be sure. Your sizing guide was just the thing! Anyway, I just wanted to say good job. Love the site, and you're definitely nurturing my mild Anthro obsession.I would love a guide to the labels – why so many? What do they mean? If you ever get to that, it would be great. Also, I let an Anthro clerk know about your site – she had no idea about the online community!

Did anyone else order the Fall Foliage Dress on Tuesday only to find out that it has been backordered? I'm starting to think that I really don't understand how inventory works on the Anthro website. I ordered mine on Tuesday morning and there were still some left in my size on Tuesday evening (according to the website)… I don't understand how Anthro can sell products that aren't in stock without realizing it.

Thanks for spreading the word about the blog Christiana. And the label history sounds like a great idea for a blog post. I'll start digging around to see what I can find. :)Lola, you are just having the worst luck with Anthro inventory! I am so sorry to hear about the backordered status. 🙁 If it makes you feel any better this happened to me with the High Speed Cardigan (same thing, I ordered it the day it was added to sale and then it went on backorder) and I did eventually get the sweater as promised. Anthro is overhauling their inventory system. I eagerly await the end result.

Christina Thomas: there's another FashBlogger who had this topic covered a while back:"Anthropologie's Secret Code – In-House Brand Guide"http://sweetarchivia.blogspot.com/2009/08/anthropologie-secret-code-brand-guide.htmland <a href="http://reviews.ebay.com/List-Of-ANTHROPOLOGIE-Brands-Avoid-Ripoffs_W0QQugidZ10000000005389557http://reviews.ebay.com/List-Of-ANTHROPOLOGIE-Bra… />and I hope Roxy will add to these a lot more, so that we, AnthroFans, can benefit! 🙂

Thanks for the encouraging words about backordered products! I hope that everything works out with my Fall Foliage Dress… You're right, I've just been having really bad luck this week. There is a silver lining, however. I called CS yesterday and managed to track down a Web & Loom Cardigan in my size at the 5th Avenue shop. If anyone else is looking for small Web & Loom Cardigans, there should be a few left at the 5th Ave. store and at the Atlanta store.

Actually, I'm a little suspicious that the cause of my bad luck is that I tried to use gift cards on all of the orders that got canceled/backordered. I'm wondering if my orders got delayed because the employees had to look up my gift card info and then the items were gone before they had a chance to pack the orders for shipping. Has anyone else observed a delay on gift card orders?

My gift card orders are a lot slower to ship. Not sure if anyone else has though.
