It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for Anthropologie fans! With Christmas concluded (in most religions anyway), Anthropologie has turned on the sale spigot and given us hundreds, no, thousands of new markdowns to pore over. So says Anthro anyway, though I think that includes all the sizes of the all the items in that count. Either way, there’s a bunch of new sale items! Yes that’s right; it’s time for the Anthropologie 2018 Winter Tag Sale!
Thanks to some eagle-eyed community members we’ve known about this sale for a few days already. How awesome is that? If you’re walking into the Tag Sale fresh today know that there are 15 pages of fresh cuts and you can take an extra 40% off sale. And annoyingly some of the best items are hiding towards the end of that slog. Below, my quick top picks from the sale.
The question is of course how long will the Tag Sale last? Some years it goes on several weeks, last year it was so short we almost missed it! You’ll find this promotions runs at least through Monday. You’ll find the most popular and sought-after items are selling out quickly but there are still plenty of delights to dive into.
Anthropologie isn’t the only store doing a big sale today either. At Madewell all sale is an extra 40% off, including new sale items. You’ll find new sale items + 50% off sale at J. Crew. At LOFT there are tons of new markdowns at $20 and under, and you can take 50% off your full-price items. Amazon also has tons of clothing, shoes and accessories deals happening right now.
I know that 15 pages of new Anthropologie 2018 Winter Tag Sale items is a lot to go through, so I’ve whittled it down to my to picks in the shoppable boutique below. What do you recommend the community gets? As always, Happy Sale Hunting!!
The few things I really wanted didn't hit sale, but I did pick up a couple of pairs of jeans and the tiered tiger skirt. Do you think there will be more markdowns next week?
The herring earrings made it to sale – only $244 with the 30% off! Act fast; only 8 pairs left 🙂 😉 https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/mignonne-gavig…
Also Sundance outlet is an additional 40% off !
Re herring earrings: fishing lure chic!

More markdowns in two weeks!
I bought that little skillet on Tuesday after it went on sale. Mainly for cooking one egg in the morning because my cast iron skillet is so heavy, it's a pain to clean.
Everything I wanted is already sold out. But good thing as I just balanced my checkbook and holy cow, it's going to be a lean January! All is well though 🙂
FWIW, my eBates alert says the 30% off sale expires on 1/10/19.

Thank you for that evb. =)
I just returned from my local store where I purchased several sale items. My subtotal was calculated without the additional 30% off…..this is the total that I was charged tax on. Only after the tax was calculated and added to the subtotal was the 30% off subtracted from each sale item. I will admit that I haven’t shopped at Anthro in quite a while, but am I missing something? Anyway, I think this is sneaky and I will be returning my purchases Friday morning when I’m in the area again.

That's…really strange, and I'm not sure it's legal either. I live in NY where there's no sales tax until clothing hits $110 so I did not personally experience this but I'm sorry you did Stacey.
While in my local Anthropologie (Oak Brook, Il), I was told if I had a return, which I did, I would get 15% off whatever I bought. Extra 15% on sale items too. They said they were trying out something new? I didn’t quite understand, but I’ll take the extra 15%.
Hahahaha. Stay weird, Anthropologie. Wonder what that's all about?
They are trying to prevent people who come in with returns from leaving empty handed. Lands End does the same thing.
I think Banana was trying it out at some point as well. Interesting. Wish my stores were trying this lol
Hmmm American Eagle did this for me when I returned something I had bought online. They gave me 10% off I believe.

Interesting! But to be honest, 15% is barely worth it to me.
Sadly, the items that I saw in store weren't of the quality I expect, so nothing to try on.
On the other hand, the few items I bought full price or on promo this year are sold out now and have held up well with many wears, so I'm happy with what I have. My favs are the pink wide wale cords from ett:wa and two linen tops from Maeve. Both are old Anthro house brands to boot!

I'm glad you've found a few things to love Eina! I tend to agree that the stuff that sells out fastest is the best quality and design however every so often a really good item doesn't make the radar, and I love snapping those gems up on sale!
It seems that Anthro had more promos than usual in the last few months, I was able to partake in them and so there isn't much in the tag sale that I'm after. However, I just bought the lovely Ciao Bella dress from Moulinette Soeurs at full price (just missed the 30% off sale last Sunday, oh well), to wear on NYE. Feeling optimistic about 2019 at Anthropologie.

Nice Anna! What a lovely dress. ?
All the ones I liked from your posts are now sold out. ?

Oh no! That does tend to happen when the deals get really good…but I would not be surprised to see them come back into stock from returns either.
Quick question and if this has already been discussed/answered, I must have missed the most recent information on the topic. It seems like once an item is sold out ,it never shows up again. It used to be I could find some pop backs (prob. returns) of items I had on my "save for later" or wishlist. Have not had that happen in a long time. Thanks for any info. on this.
Things pop back but generally the newer ones. The really old ones do not pop back frequently.
There were many popbacks in the wee hours of the morning but I believe the real problem here lies within Anthro's store inventory tracking system.
For example, there's a dress (among other things) that's been sold out since Black Friday sitting in one of local stores. I make it a point to go and see if it's still there from time to time because it's reinforces my theory that the tracking system has eroded over time. It used to be that Anthro would "turn off" store fulfillment during high-traffic times of the year but I've seen enough now to fully believe that it's barely working on it's best day.
It sucks for everyone because we're missing out on the items we'd like to have and they aren't tuning over inventory as quickly as they could.

Anthro's inventory policy is now to let stores sell returns, even stuff that's online only. That's the main reason that you're not seeing nearly as many popbacks anymore, additionally to what Lindinha and Shari have shared.
Hi – I placed two orders from anthro in the last few days – one in fact last night. I’m appalled to see that it’s now 40% off. I’m gueasing I can’t get a price adjustment now? It’s 10% but that makes a difference given how much I spent there. ?

Call them and request the extra 10% off. It's true the policy has changed but you never know, you might get a nice rep or perhaps there's been enough of an uproar that they've decided to honor PAs.
Thank you! I will try that!
I placed an order on Christmas Eve when it was 30% off. I called yesterday to get a PA and I got one. Definitely worth if you spent enough.
Thanks for posting. I'm gonna give it a shot. I ordered a few things on Christmas Day. I haven't even received them yet and they are already cheaper!
I will try as well – same issue. However, one issue I consistently have with Anthro before they changed their PA policy is that the rep doesn't process the PA correctly. What happens is that they don't process the refund as a PA but as a total amount taken off my order. Then, if I return something, they don't refund correctly and it shows up that I paid less money for each item. I've had too many issues like this where the store rep has to call in, and other times there is so much confusion that I really hesitate further to get a PA. If anyone else has had the same experience and has found a better solution, please let me know. Thank you!
Last week I was doing some last minute holiday shopping and spied a pretty green floral dress at Anthro. It was knee length & had long sleeves and I seem to remember black trim. I thought the tag said “Maeve.” It was very pretty but I was in a hurry & decided to find it online. And now I can’t! I have scrolled through the dress pages multiple times but don’t see it. Does anyone recall seeing a similar dress?

Hi Sara, are either of these two it?
http://bit.ly/2CGbUd2 http://bit.ly/2CFSBQQ
Nope, but I appreciate your help! I may have to head back to the store. Maybe it’s a newer item & hasn’t appeared online yet. Thanks again!
I saw it and it’s on the website but does t come up under a “ Maeve” search. It’s the “ janis dress”.
Right?
I stumbled upon and ultimately bought the floral eyelash cardigan in petite sizing from a return in my local store. I hadn't really even put a second thought to it but after trying it on it's really beautiful and a great deal at the current sale price.
I wish anthro offered more Petite sizes in their stores.Although I probably would spend way more money than I already do, so maybe I'm better off.
There are markdowns today-most noticeable on sweaters so not sure if it’s a sweater promo but they are good with the additional 40 off.

Thank you for posting this Stefanie! Alex whisked me away on a surprise getaway ? — I’ll try to add some quick picks to the homepage, and will be back to posting as normal on Monday!!
Thoughts on the 50% off promotion with NO RETURNS!
I'm thinking that they're trying out a new return policy on us, and I don't think it's worth the extra 10% off. My fear is that in a year's time most sale promotions are going to now look like final sale. Anthropologie is really straying from their original stance on commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. When I worked at Anthropologie (2013-2015), we always tried to help our customer love her product and love her experience with Anthro, even if she was returning an item. That vibe is disappearing with promotions like this one.
Perhaps this makes more sense in the stores, but definitely not online when the quality and sizing of items has been inconsistent.
Wondering what you think, Roxy, I'd love to see a post about it.
Also – is it just me, or is there an unreal amount of popbacks with several sizes available?
I'm finding things that I had in my carts months ago, and they were sold out then.
Example: Geometric skirt, Tracian petite dress, Patchwork Tunic dress
What's going on Anthropologie?
Yes over 4000 items on sale at anthro now 🙂
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Stephanie, I hadn't even considered that angle.
I am generally opposed to "Final Sale" at any retail establishment and at Anthropologie it would be unthinkable. In my last order, I received the wrong blouse and when I checked the reviews, another recipient experienced the same. Which means QC is poor.
I will have to pass on this sale unless I'm buying a candle or something. I would much prefer 30 or 40% off minus the restriction.
I think this is 50% off and final sale thing is pretty lame. At this point a lot of the sale merch should be on its second or third round of cuts with their regular 25-40% promotions like in the past. They kind of sound desperate IMHO. I agree with LIndinha… I would rather have their standard promotions minus the silly restriction. Come on, Anthro…
2nd/3rd cuts seems to have completely disappeared. For all the constant sales, you're still paying way more per item.
This is so very true
I saw all the popbacks yesterday, put a few things in my cart, saw that they were final sale and closed out of the website. I will not buy anything online that is final sale.
Not only that, even with 50% off the deals really were not all that great. At this point, things from summer/fall should be $20-30-40; not $70-80-90…….200!!
And there are still a ton of winter items that haven't been marked down at all yet.
Remember when Anthro’s sale days used to be so much fun? Sale watch the night before, waiting for the markdowns to appear, calling to order items to see if they were on sale, markdowns on Tuesdays, second cuts on Wednesdays…
Allll the good ole days….
I have bought items from J. Crew final sale online and had no problem making returns. People at the stores have said that they have no problem honoring returns on items bought online since it's impossible to tell how something will fit or if there will be any other issue with the item. I can't imagine Antho not doing the same. Colors not coming across properly and fit are my two biggest issues when purchasing online.
I wouldn't be too sure, Anthro has become very very stingy with its new return and PA policies. Ever since they switched to no PA on sale items I have returned so much since it usually was marked down more within a week and before I could wear it. I was even initially denied a PA on a full price item that went on sale because I had purchased with the 20% off FP promo. I cannot stand their new policies that seem so out of step.
However, I think they must have so many problems with PA and returns that they are now moving to Final Sale to avoid this. Just move back to the old system of markdowns please. Also allow PA on sale, but maybe move the adjustment period to 7 days.
It does not inspire good feelings when ordered items that are still in the mail or haven't even left the building are suddenly cheaper and you are left SOL. I'm sure they are seeing more return and repurchase activity due to the PA policy, and I guess Final Sale is the "solution" to that problem, right?

Hi ladies! On my way home today and yes I will make this final sale weirdness my first post back on Monday.
50% off sale at Anthro!!!
I wasn't too interest in Anthro's sale, as I'm shopped out for January, however I did pop in at my store and I found a few great pieces. There was quite a bit of sale merchandise on the floor. I think final sale ensures they get rid of it. I love the few things I bought, but hate all the new Anthro rules.
Was the instore merch final sale too?
Yes
