Shop: this top
Anthropologie’s sale section has updated with fresh cuts, and a bit of extra good news: all sale items are an extra 30% off this weekend! No code required; discount reflects at checkout. Will this be the good news to entice you to take another look at Anthro sale? No matter how I feel about the overall selection Anthropologie fresh cuts are always a delight.
I’ve gone through and it seems like most of the fresh cuts are home items. From the clothing, here are 10 quick picks:
- A pretty plum color makes the eyelet top seen above an any-season delight.
- Tracy Reese’s take on the striped DVF column dress is pretty good, and a deal with the promo.
- This waffled cowlneck comes in 4 colors and is a very versatile piece. I own the black and wear it often.
- One of Anthropologie’s 10 billion takes on the lace top is on sale, and it’s one of the prettier versions, though it is totally see-through.
- All retailers seem allergic to buttons on their cardigans, but as open cardis go this one is lovely.
- I took the plunge on this skirt during the last sale promo and while the bumpy material is somewhat unexpected, it’s a fantastic work skirt that flows beautifully as I walk. Runs TTS.
- If your shape has fewer curves you’ll find this column dress to be a total delight. As for the rest of us…? Wherefore art thou, Anthro???
- This pommed jacket is one part crazy, one part divine. If you tend to wear neutrals and like to have one piece that pops, this is a great option.
- Since Winter reminded us that it’s not over yet, I’m suddenly more into the idea of these warm faux-sueded leggings.
- A literal twist on the classic striped top, the hem tie on this shirt could be cute with the right pair of slim jeans or crops.

Looking for more deals to shop this weekend? A few more great ones are in this post, and there’s an exclusive promotion just for this community in this recent post too! If you need some shoe ideas to pair with these sale and promo goodies this post will help; and be sure to follow along with me on my Facebook page where I share more promo picks, sale updates, and highlights of great deals and wishlist items.
Question about the birthday discount — how can it be used? For this 30% off sale promo for instance, can you use it for an extra 15% off? And how about stacking it on the Anthro Day 20% off? I seem to recall that even though these discounts do not require a code these days, the birthday discount code didn't work for anything that already had a percent off. TIA
Also – agree about the Waffled Cowlneck which I also have in black. I think it runs large, however, and sized down.
Anthro employee here – correct you cannot combine the birthday discount with any other discounts.

Thank you Anon for clarifying!
I also haven’t gotten my birthday discount in 2 years. Thought they took that away.

It's still a thing. You should contact customer service about it!
I have to say that the most recent set of markdowns were the most disappointing ever.
And they happened last Monday so are already stale ?

Aww, well you won't find me disagreeing with that too deeply.
Hi Roxy, I love your blog! I used to shop at Anthropologie regularly, but I've noticed a few changes that have greatly reduced my spending there. For one, items aren't marked down as frequently. In addition, Anthro doesn't do as many promos as they used to AND they have increased prices across all categories of items. Finally, items sometimes aren't stocked in all the sizes, and/or sell out before they ever make it to the sale section. Have you noticed the same changes and if so, any ideas what is going on?

Hi Guest, yes your observations are all right on. I will say that many retailers have raised prices so Anthro is not alone, however Anthropologie's price increases are probably more noticeable because they are paired with ever more high ticket items that start at noticeably higher prices than previous years. Anthro has always, for as long as I can remember, had a few really expensive items each season but now it seems much more commonplace.
As for items selling out before they make the sale section, that is actually a good thing for Anthropologie as a business! It used to happen a lot and it's starting to happen again as the items become more appealing (or, as the orders Anthro places to stock the item are smaller).
Anthropologie is definitely stocking less Petites. On the rare occasion I find something I like it sells out so fast! If I place an order on the first day I see it on their site it says “only a few left”.
Roxy, thanks for the explanation.
Guest #2 – exactly. It's hard to pay full price for these items so in combination with the low stock it just doesn't feel comfortable for me as a shopper. It feels too difficult right now – so although I'll always be happy if I "get lucky" with sizes and discounts, my expectations have been reduced.

So interesting, Guest 1 and Guest 2! As I very rarely shop for petites (sometimes with their longer dresses cut at odd lengths the petite looks better on me, but that is rare) I had no idea, and it seems a strange strategy for a company that pushed its petites line so hard last year.
I was hoping to do my usual quarterly report on Anthro's earnings call, however this time around they didn't make the call transcript public. 🙁 A total bummer.
