Anthropologie expands the flowy with new stores on the way

Anthropologie continues its mission to have 250 or so stores open in North America, with a few new stores slated to open this month and announcements of  more on the way.

On September 21, Kentucky will have its first-ever Anthropologie when Louisville welcomes our favorite retailer to the Oxmoor Center. This is so exciting for Anthro-lovers in the area!! Right now the closest location is probably Cincinnati which requires a haul up I-71, going over the Brent Spence Bridge and oh yeah crossing state lines. I guess I shouldn’t complain about having a 15-minute subway ride, ha.

Over on the left coast, Walnut Creek, CA will welcome Anthropologie to town sometime in the middle of September. Although there are a couple of Anthropologies within 20 minutes or so driving distance I know the feeling of wanting a store closer! If Anthropologie opened in Financial District I’d never leave. (They are getting closer, with a store slated to open on the Bowery either late this year or early next year.)

Then again, what happens when Anthropologie becomes ubiquitous? As the middle of Canada wonders when Anthro might expand into their region, it looks like Toronto is about to get its third Anthropologie store. A new development on Queen Street West includes a rendering of an “Archeologie” in its architectural sketches, leading the Toronto Life blog to wonder if that means an Anthro is slated to live there. I suppose more stores means more chances of finding an item you want. But when does it become too much?

Ladies in no-Anthro zones, where should Anthropologie open next? I’m still pining for a Wall St location, and I know of a nice empty retail space right up the block from me where Anthro could live.
