Guest Post: Love letter to the Brushed Lace Pullover

Note: Reader Outfits will return next week!!! While I am on vacation the community is helping keep EA live! This guest post is written by the British Anthropologiest.

Now, I don’t know about you, but when I get a new piece from Anthropologie (or anywhere, really!) I get a little obsessive about wearing it. I’m not one of those girls who buys things and leaves them in the cupboard for a while, no, no, no! I must wear it. Immediately! And in as many different ways as possible.

For those who read my blog, you’ll know I’ve been on a shopping ban recently. The last thing I got, before the padlock clicked into place over my wallet, was the utterly gorgeous Brushed Lace Pullover. So this poor baby is getting more obsessing over than usual. Despite my usual loathing for tops that require another piece to be layered underneath, I’m completely smitten.

Soooo, I thought I’d show you a couple of different ways I’ve been wearing this beauty, as I know that quite a few community members own it too (as much as I’d like to believe that mine is the only one!).

Outfit One – aka 1950s Housewife:
First of all: these shoes are at least a half size too small on me – so you’re lucky that I manage a face other than “Get them off, getthemoff!”. They are seriously cute, though, and I just keep hoping that they’ll magically stretch out.

I picked up this skirt at a vintage fair a couple of years back but I kind of forgot about it until recently, when the midi length trend came back full force. I’m such a sucker for a pink and green combo.

You can see here that this top tucks in pretty well, but it’s best tucked into a-line skirts, or any that flare out from the hip, as the sweater material at the hem is a bit bulky, and you might look like you’re sporting a spare tire, otherwise!

Outfit Two – aka Pulling it Over:
The lovely JG inspired me to wear a pullover over my Great Dot Maxi, which otherwise can be a bit of a one-trick pony.

The wedges are another vintage find (I’m sorry, don’t hate me!) and though you can’t really see here, are covered in polka dots, tying into the dress.

Outfit Three – aka Puss in Boots:

And casual. Don’t look so surprised, even I have to be casual once in a while! The best thing about this top (my precious) is that it perfectly straddles that fine line between delicate and wearable. And to wear it out for dinner, all you need is a slick of red lipstick and you’re ready for a night out (true story).

I have to note that these boots are amazing, real workhorses, even if they’re in a sorry state here (typical English rainy day, I’m afraid, hence the indoor shots). They’re open at the top in the back, and make me feel like Puss in Boots.

Brushed Lace Pullover (sensing a pattern?), Marks and Spencer cami, AG skinny jeans, Nine West Zelipew boots.
Other ways I wear this top include with my orange Pilcro Serif Cords and my bright green AG Stevies. I find that this shade of pale pink is perfect for wearing as a neutral.

And so ends my love letter to the Brushed Lace Pullover. Long may it be with me. The shopping ban is over now, but I haven’t caved on anything yet – but I’m just dying for the Nightshade Top, which isn’t dissimilar from this, and almost as cute…

Well, I’m off to go and work on my dissertation some more – boo. I hope to maybe see some of you over on my blog and maybe even tempt a few of you into submitting for my Style It! feature? Come on, you know you want to…
