Guest post: A truly Anthro wedding…

(Note from roxy: this guest post is by Craven Maven, who tempts me with all things home daily.)

I love weddings as much as the next girl. So when I heard that Anthro was coming out with a bridal line I let out a scream that I am pretty sure was only heard by dogs… But, also being the food nerd I am, my mind quickly progressed from wondering what the dresses would look like to wondering if there would also be matrimonially appropriate tableware.

Loathe to wait the many months to find out, I decided to take matters into my own hands and develop my own wedding mood boards picking from Anthro’s current diningware and home product offerings.

I am a huge fan of small intimate weddings. Funnily enough the last few weddings of friends have been decidely tiny affairs. There’s something very precious about small weddings, it allows for the details to be that much more unique and personal. It’s that special feel that I was hoping to convey with my choices..hopefully you will be inspired!

The Simple, Beautiful Backyard Reception
Anthro Back Garden Inspired Wedding Reception

1. Paper Pretender Dinnerware ($32-$48), 2. Latte Bowls ($20) in Lime, 3. Dandelion Green Flatware ($24), 4. Birds on a wire salad plate ($16), 5. Flowers from Styers at Terrain, 6. Aged Herb Pot Cylinder ($8), 7. Stitche Chambray Napkins ($10) in Navy, 8. Aged Herb Pot Large ($12), 9. Wishing Well Bucket ($128), 10. Stafford flute glasses ($18), 11. Fleur-de-Lys Juice Glass ($6).

With nature as the backdrop, a simply backyard reception calls for minimal patterns, colours that occur in nature and encourages moderate informality. I love the idea of having the wishing well bucket as a possible table piece, filled with ice and vintage soda bottles! Low aged herb pots grouped form a center piece when filled with flowers from where else but Styers at Terrain? The details are all simple, beautiful and yet not too delicate for the back garden!

The FunFair Inspired Colour Fest
Anthro FunFair Inspired Wedding Reception

1. De Vincennes Dinner Plate, Octopus ($24), 2. Hornbill Pitcher ($298), 3. Mina Napkins ($24) in red, 4. Nurata Tablecloth ($58-$88), 5. Mixed Set of Latte Bowls ($30), 6. Paradox Planter ($48), 7. Bendy Flatware ($98), 8. Backyard champagne flute ($18), 9. Festivities Glass ($8).

There is a reason why as kids we love funfairs (or State Fairs as they are often called in the USA). The visual assault of colours as well as patterns that sometimes match, sometimes don’t keep us visually stimulated. I love how Anthro has many visually fun dinnerware options in their collection! The HornBill pitcher, De Vincennes Octopus dinnerplates, bendy flatware and paradox planter. All a little bizzare and fun – invoking the spirit of excitement that comes from a day at the fair and a perfect collection for someone bold enough to have a bright bold wedding reception.

Refined Vintage
Anthro Refined Vintage Inspired Wedding Reception

1. Fleur-de-Lys dinnerplate ($10-$38), 2. Stitched Chambray napkin ($10) in neutral, 3. Metals and Petals vase ($20), 4. Seaborne Flatware ($98), 5. Fleur-de-Lys bowl ($28), 6. From the deep salad plate ($14), 7. Diving Whale Terrarium ($148), 8. Mina Tablecloth ($58-$98) in blue, 9. Beast’s Feast Tureen ($148), 10. Flowers from Saipua, 11. Hobnail Tumbler ($10), 12. Horta Champage Glass ($12).

Vintage can, if unrestrained get a little out of control and look like the mish mosh end result of a day at a flea market. Keeping the colour pallete restrained – just white, blue and copper in this case. The details simple – the fleur-de-lys dinnerplate, the legs on the Beast Feast turreen, the etching on the Horta champagne glass and the slightly weathered Metals and Petal Vase, the result is tasteful and yet interesting without being kitschy.

So what are you looking forward to from the Anthro wedding collection??

Oh, these wedding + Anthro guest posts are making wish my lazy butt had written one. To answer your question, I'm really curious about the price points for decor. Honestly, the only way that one could really swing Anthro for their wedding decor would be for an very intimate setting — like what you have posted. The cost for just one table outfitted with Anthro items could be large. Imagine that amount times X.

This is such a great idea! I really cannot wait to see what Anthro comes up with for their wedding line but in the meanwhile, as I plan my impending October nuptials, these ideas are super helpful!

Your inspiration boards are so cute! I can't wait for Anthro's wedding line, maybe then they will finally set up a gift registry so when I get married I will be able to register for all their cute kitchen and home goods! I can't wait to see the wedding dresses they come up with- I'm betting they will be spectacular.

Thanks ladies! I agree sarah I am so so excited for the dresses to come and if they do a registry and or tableware I pretty much would have died and gone to heaven. I hope the price points will be across the budget board!

To heck with a wedding – those boards look great for a garden party! lol No, really I like all of these sets, they're great. I never thought of using Anthro tableware for decor, but it's a great idea – will keep it in mind if ever I have a small backyard wedding or reception. I'm also excited like everyone else to see what Anthro has up their sleeves for bridal dresses and headbands/veils and such. BTW – a word to the wise, I ordered those latte bowls, and half of them arrived broken TWO times (they're porcelain). So if you want them, buy them in store if you can, because they are super fragile in transit. I did call CS about the initial broken shipment, and they sent replacement bowls free of charge (yes, super nice). However, that 2nd shipment arrived broken too, after which I just figured it wasn't meant to be or worth the trouble. HTH someone!
