Guest post: Wedding Gift Ideas by Kristen

Hi everyone! My name is Kristen and I write a little blog called One Florida Bride. Now that is officially wedding season it seems like bridal shower and wedding invitations are constantly in the mailbox. So, I thought that I would help you find some great gifts that would make any bride happy. And luckily, there isn’t a blender or toaster in sight.

A great basic for any kitchen are the Latte Bowls ($20). They come in about a million colors, and are universally great bowls. You can buy them online in predetermined sets or you can head into the store, where they are sold individually, and create your own mix of colors. If a bride has certain colors on her registry, buying bowls that are within her color palette of registered items would be a nice touch.

A note on the registry thing, while we are at it…many brides use Anthropologie’s wish list feature as their makeshift “Anthropologie registry.” The downside to this is that it really isn’t one–you can’t deduct in-store purchases, only online ones, from a wish list. With free online shipping until Labor Day, this isn’t as much of an issue, but in the future, it might be, as in-store purchases could lead to brides getting duplicate items.

Next on my list of great gifts would be a cute apron. Anthro definitely has the prettiest aprons around. I personally really like The Lady’s Apron ($32), with its cute ruffled skirt.

The Baker’s Delight Apron ($32, below) is another great option–it was recently worn by Kristin Davis (aka Charlotte) in Sex and the City 2.

My last pick would be the Fleur Recipe Cards ($14). I have several sets of these and they are as pretty in person as they are online. They are made out of nice, thick paper, and seem to be holding up well. If you are someone who is culinarily-inclined, you could fill out some of the cards with your own killer recipes before passing them onto the bride–hopefully creating some go-to recipes for her to rely on in the future.

Last but not least, I put together a little styling photo to show you how I would put all these gifts together.

This basket includes the Dotty Match Apron, a Dotty Match Potholder, a pack of the Fleur Recipe Cards, a Paisleys Spoon Rest, and two of the Orjen Iris Bowls. The total cost of it would come to $88 dollars, which would be pretty reasonable if you split it with a friend and presented the gift as coming from both of you.

I hope this gave you some good ideas for gifts for the brides in your life. Happy wedding season!

Thanks for the ideas, this came as perfect timing for me.

cute gift set. I don't think $88 dollars is enough to spend for a wedding gift though. my mom always said it needed to be at least the estimated cost of your meal. The weddings I have been to have been way more than that.

Very nice post. Great ideas! I don't think of shopping Anthro for wedding gifts. Now I will.

Loved this post! We get so many shoppers who are looking for creative wedding gifts. Thanks for including that point about the wishlist/registry difference, too. Unfortunately, we have no way to mark off your in-store purchases (customer service can't even do it) so I HIGHLY recommend getting a gift receipt, just in case the bride-to-be gets some duplicate gifts!

great post! I've always loved Anthro's aprons, and always wanted to buy Anthro home stuff for shower/wedding gifts but couldn't figure out a good way to pull it all together — I love the basket idea at the end of the post!too bad my own wedding/shower is way past, otherwise I would totally utilize the wishlist as a registry!

OMGGG…THOSE APRONS ARE ADORABLE!! And not a moment too soon for me to find!! Getting married in October and I have a registry on MyRegistry.com, so I can easily add these fab goodies to my wish list. Aww, I think my fiancee might actually appreciate these too 😉

At the risk of sounding like a crazy feminist, I have to say that I would be a little offended if I received an apron as a wedding gift…unless it included an apron for my husband too.

i thought the same thing anon, an apron, bowls, recipe cards? i hope these brides are really domesticated! even as a pretend chef myself, i think these ideas are a bit outdated, but the thought is what counts, and anthro is definitely a great potential wedding gift spot (even though we always give cash at weddings…hm, is that tacky? people seem to like it.)

Lol! I don't know anon, maybe I'd put an apron on a registry just to be tongue-in-cheek. Sometimes playing the 50s housewife role is fun. I checked out that website though and they have an iphone app too. Weird!

I appreciate the range of gift ideas provided in this post, from traditional to more unconventional options. I found the tip about considering the couple's future plans when selecting a gift quite interesting. The section about handmade gifts struck a chord with me. Handcrafted items have a special charm and can be truly unique.
