New arrivals: An ode to spring

Much as I am a huge fan of cold weather I know that many of you are…not. Anthropologie seems to realize this as this has truly been their year of winter denial. Fewer warm sweaters than there are days of the week, etc. Now as the time arrives to truly release warm-weather gear they’ve opened the floodgates. I love weeks like this when there are so many new items! Far too many to break down here, so make sure you visit the new arrivals section of the website.

Flowers on my shoulder: Anthropologie is no stranger to floral adornments and this batch of new releases keeps that trend going. The Tree Poppy Tank ($98) has a floral arrangement made of similar fabric to the Vanilla Bean Blouse ($128), also by Yoana Baraschi. If you missed the Polaire Vest (jog your memory here) perhaps you’ll be satisfied to substitute the beautiful Ode to Spring Tank ($78) or its solid cousin the Storybook Tank ($68). Leifsdottir’s beautiful Falling Strands Blouse ($228) is a sight to behold in orange and pink, though I prefer the blue and green version myself. I was thrilled with C. Keer’s Sun Grown Tank ($58) — review coming up tomorrow.

Buttoned up and down: There’s something about Anthropologie’s blouses that is always so feminine and tailored, even when the shape is flowy. I can’t wait to try on the Crossroads Buttondown ($78), the Line Drawing Buttondown ($98) and the Banded Cyan Buttondown ($98). On the flowier side I’m tempted by the Thick & Thin Blouse ($88) while the Off The Map Blouse ($88) was a hit when I tried it on the other day.

Neutral but never boring: Among the plethora of colorful frocks that Anthropologie unveiled this week were four quieter but equally impressive dresses. I only wonder where these darker tones were earlier this winter! The Monukka Dress ($168) is ready to party while the Curvy Shift ($118) is work-appropriate and incredibly flattering on! (At least I thought so.) I can’t resist a jumper as darling as the Both Worlds Jumper ($248). Then again, the ruffles of the Leading Role Dress ($98) might quickly become the star of my wardrobe.

Cropped delights: Because they’re meant to be worn over dresses I can excuse the short length of these alluring cardigans. I am head-over-heels in love with I Love Benetti’s Star Sprinkled Cardi ($188). ZOMG. Also set in my sights is the Bluebells Awaken Cardi ($158) which you may notice has a very similar aqua tone. I’m still pining for my missed Frills & Thrills Cardigan, and while not the same one color motif of the Four Petal Cardi ($88) has the same wine-colored placket.

Coclico on my mind: I love this shoe brand though they are expensive. Anthropologie has carried select items from Coclico’s line for the last few seasons but they’ve really outdone themselves this time. I simply must have all three pairs: the Underlined Heels ($368), the Edge Of Reason T-Straps ($325) and the Bering Strait Heels ($328). I also must have a second job to pay for these beauties!

Which new arrival is your favorite? Have you tried anything on?

The Underlined Heels and Edge of Reason T-Straps are already on my wish list. Sigh. Why do they have to be $300+????????

I've tried the Bluebells Awaken Cardi from Tracy Reese. It's very fitted, but cute. The top lace part is see-through, but it adds a nice touch. It also has some pleating in the back for more room without bulk. I've also tried the Grasslands dress, and it's a keeper. The white is thick enough that you can wear colored underwear underneath and no one will know. It's very flowy, and will be my summer staple. I'll post pics of it to my blog soon.

Bronzi – I know! The quality is there to make it worth it…I am saving my pennies.Alicia – Great to hear about both items. Can't wait to see the post!Anon – Terrific pickups. I LOOOVE the Bougainvillea Cardigan. I had kind of forgotten about it after reviewing it awhile ago but then I saw it on Maria and loved it all over again!

I was so in love with the Star Sprinkled Cardigan… until I tried it on. First off, it has shoulder pads. Easily removed. I wish there were regular buttons instead hook and eye closure. the sweater fits okay. It's also cropped. It hits me just below my natural waist and above my hips when closed. Frankly, for $188, I'll go buy some trim, sequins, and a $50 sweater, and glue on the details myself, thank you. It's a total pass for me, even on sale.

I haven't had a chance to try on any of the newer merchandise (hooray for living in the middle of nowhere!), but I have my eye on the Monukka Dress and the Sun Grown Tank. I'm not sure how I feel about the "grape bunch" on the Monukka Dress (cute? tacky? a little of both?), so I'd be curious to hear from someone who has seen it IRL.

I tried on the Lime Juice Dress, I didn't like it, I felt like an old lady in it and I thought it was too long for my age. I also tried the Rising Vapor Dress, that's a pass for me. I actually liked the Whorled Roses tank but I will wait for a sale.
