The weekend in-store community post

Note: I will run new posts over the weekend but continue to have this post on top of the blog to encourage participation.

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be!

I'm not looking for anything, but I ordered the Head-In-The-Clouds sweater (size M) from the sale this week, and it totally does NOT work for me. I know it sold out pretty quickly, so if anyone is interested in buying it off me ($79.95 + 6% sales tax + shipping), I'd be happy to send it to you!christinadeal [at] gmail [dot] com

If you want a fairly wide choice of sale cardigans, sweaters, jackets and some coats, try the new Chicago Block 37 store. They only have 4-5 styles of dresses and none of the ones people are asking for here in the sale room, this was as of last nights opening party. Of course it could be a mob scene this morning due to the rumored sale (and other) stock….:)

lindsey..elizabeth, I saw a Gardenia Bib necklace in a small display case on the jewelry table at the Austin Anthro:Also at the Austin Anthro:-1 Twilit skirt size 2 (in the sale room, bottom rack, by the black satin and velvet skirts)-several black velvet ruffled skirts by Mise en Scene Ruffian–nicely lined with silk and only $39.95, sizes 0,2,4-1 xs Make Nice Cardigan-1 *grey* xs Best Route Tee-1 L coral Ruffle Tee Tank-1 L Flower Fireworks silk top-a few Daisy Quarters skirts, in the smaller sizes, I think-several aqua & black wind-ruffled tees in XS & SThe sale room was much less packed with stuff, and much easier to navigate as a result! There were some other things, but they don't come to mind. If someone posts something that they're looking for, and it jogs my memory, I'll be sure to post.

A repost from Anthroholic's blog: :)I was able to hunt down the Horizon Line Dress in shell in size 0 from the Boca Raton store in Florida! According to CS, this store should have 3 size 0's left in that color. The dress is being shipped to me today! The store number is 561-395-3092. They also had a few in the orange too.

  17. January 22, 2010 / 8:27 pm

Sara- It's a stretch, but I found a M Elodie at the Charlottesville, VA store last weekend. I know its almost a week later, but its worth a try.

  18. January 22, 2010 / 8:32 pm

For anyone looking for the Floushing Obi Tank, I saw a wide range of sizes at the San Francisco store. They were folded on the top floor. 415-434-2210

  19. January 22, 2010 / 8:40 pm

I was at the Austin store this morning and they had one pair of the Winding Ruffles boots in an 8and a half (8.5) and it took ALL of my willpower to resist them since that's my size! But I was strong! Glenda posted the Austin phone # above – wonder if we were there at the same time. I also saw the Twilit skirt in size 2 and bought the only other one they had. For $29.95- what a steal!Tried on lots of new arrivals and had a great time!

Glenda and Sara, i sooo miss the austin store! i loved it! i moved back where my parents live, in baton rouge, and the store/customer service is very, very, VERY lackluster here (though i could say that about every store here, which is why i usually order online). :(oh, and have some freebirds for me!! yum.

  25. January 22, 2010 / 9:46 pm

Sara – you are my new reason for being happy (and $125 poorer!). As soon as I read your post on the Winding Ruffles boots in Austin, I called – i lack your willpower! I decided that even if they only had the 8's I'd take them and chop my toes off to wear them. Thank you! Thank you! Also, I am searching for a Lil Duo Button dress in 4. I've called so many Anthros searching for a straggling one on their sales racks I think they might blacklist me. My email is jhoynow@gmail.com if you have one. Thanks,Jesse

Sara, I think we were in the store around the same time–and I saw those Ruffled Boots too, one in black, the other brown? Anthro doesn't carry my shoe size, so I usually don't pay attention to their shoes, but I saw the boots and thought, "Oh, so that's what the hubbub is about. They are cute." I too tried on many new spring items because I had basically exhausted the sale racks on Tuesday, and um, I bought *two* full-price items. It was the Reed Shirtdress in green, and it looked so pretty, vibrant and spring-like. I danced around the fitting room, very happy, and then sighed, "After this dress, I must be stopped." But after I bought the copper leather purse with the fabric triangles, because you know, it was the last one left. ;)This is turning into a confessional, so I'll say a quick shout out to Burntphotograph and her freebirds–great burrito place, I can barely finish one!

i just spotted this blog and had a few questions. when you call in at a store, whether it be in your state or out of state, do you ask the SA to ship it to you? and if they do is it free shipping? i'm a bit confused sorry. I just moved to a small town and the closest anthro would be about 5 hours away from me! *tear*

  44. January 23, 2010 / 4:38 am

Em, Anthropologie customer service/catalog/online and stores will ship to you (If CS/online doesn't have the item, they can tell you what stores will). No matter how you go about it, all of these places will charge you shipping. Standard from a store is $5.95 for UPS ground. HOWEVER, if you go into an Anthro store and they don't have the item you want, then they can track it down, either to online or another store, and the item will then be sent to you free of charge. But you have to go through a store to do this.

  45. January 23, 2010 / 4:54 am

Evangeline, the Austin store had several Pom Pom cardigans in the store today. Didn't check sizes, but the rack was full. You could give them a call (512)236-9301.Also, just to clarify, I only saw one pair of the Winding Ruffle boots today in the 8.5. I didn't see a size 8. Sorry about the confusion if I caused any… 🙂

  46. January 23, 2010 / 5:23 am

Evangeline- I was in the San Jose store earlier this week and they had a half dozen or so Cut Colors cardis… Have seen them there for the past month or so, all signs point to They Should Still Be There 🙂 don't remember what sizes though, I'm afraid.

  47. January 23, 2010 / 6:01 am

random question…i bought the inkwell dress awhile ago online and it said machine wash…well i got it and it's dry clean only 🙁 does anyone have this dress and if so, do they have any experience with hand washing it…since it's black and white i don't want the colors to bleed, but i just had it dry cleaned and it cost 10 bucks…which is kinda ridiculous for each wear! thanks 🙂 (link for reference) http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/produ

  55. January 23, 2010 / 6:19 pm

Hi everyone,I think it's so cool that everyone is helping each other find items! Anthropologie's gotta be making a fortune off of us! I'm looking for the Winding Ruffle boots in a 7.5 or an 8. I called the San Francisco store (they were sold out) and the NYC Rockefeller store (no 7.5). Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I'm headed to Anthro now and I'll let everyone know if I see any good finds!

  64. January 23, 2010 / 9:57 pm

Hi, just got back from the Palo Alto, CA store and I got the last Kindest Cut dress! I'm so happy, I thought I missed out on this one. There were lots of Cut Colors and Wrapped in Ruffles cardigans, and a Thousand Days skirt in orange in a 6 (very tempting!) Lots of snowscape tanks, one of the blue Leifsdottir cardigans…quite a bit of sale stuff I hadn't seen a week or so ago. One Ice-Capped blouse in a 0 or 2. I also noticed that gray sweater vest tunic with the ruffled bottom that is sold out online,in L and XL.

  65. January 23, 2010 / 10:05 pm

hi, I was so excited when I found this blog by accident! My friend got me addicted to anthro a few years back and the addiction has gotten even worse since I live a 5 minute walk away from it. I have a question: has anyone reviewed the ring-of-jewels boots on here? I got a pair as a birthday present but reviews online were few and gave it low ratings so I was wondering if anyone on here knew more about it. Is the quality really bad? i think they look cute but if they wear out quickly I'd rather trade them in. THANKS! and yay for being a grad student with no money and living next to anthro.

  66. January 23, 2010 / 11:51 pm

Hi mae, I have not reviewed them. Do you have a link you can share to the reviews? I tried Googling but didn't come up with anything.

  67. January 23, 2010 / 11:56 pm

nancy – the Cascading Tulle Cardigan went on sale mid-December. The second cut isn't always based on time in sale, it's based on the amount of stock Anthro has left and their margin on the item. I'm sorry that you missed out on the item. 🙁

  68. January 24, 2010 / 12:14 am

nancy – No, the 49.99 is the second marked down. It was on sale originally for $99.95 on December (look at Roxy's old post). I think the second marked down just happened recently(last 2 weeks?). I went to both of my anthro stores today and i don't see them anymore.

  69. January 24, 2010 / 12:35 am

I went to the Tucson store this evening and noticed several items that are not yet on the site. One is an ivory silk dress, full skirt, with peach colored polka dots all over it, by Moulinette Soeurs.Very retro looking, with a floral waist sash/tie.For those who are looking, the sale room had several of the Converging Roads sweater dress, but I did not check sizes. They also had lots of the greyish ruffle sweater dress, the one where the ruffle is also partly on the back (I am totally drawing a blank on the name).

I wore my Simply Lovely Sweater dress for the first time today and I noticed some major pilling going on. Anyone else own this dress and experience that? Does it stop after a few wears? I'm wondering if I should return it.

  78. January 24, 2010 / 7:04 am

I noticed the same with my simply lovely sweater dress. I remember reading the reviews and someone said that it stopped after a couple of wears. The pilling problem was what prevented me from paying full price for it. I had some pilling problems with a sweater from Anthro that is kind of the same material. The pilling stopped after a few wears and I hope the same is true for this dress. I love mine too much to return it.

Thanks Tien!I'd hate to return mine too. The color is sooo pretty! I hope the reviews are right.

I am going to try calling customer service tomorrow, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask now, either.Thanks!!Yoyayoyatalkpretty@gmail.com

Thanks anonymous- that's my back up plan for my younger sister. I think they're marked down to something crazy cheap in stores, though, so I am going to wait until tomorrow. Thanks so much for looking out!! I appreciate it.Yoya

Yoya -You might want to go down a size or two in the Beach Grass dress (if your sisters haven't tried it on already). I'm normally between a 4 and a 6, but I had to size down to a 2 in the Beach Grass Dress in order for the top to stay up. There's some elastic in the back, so I think it's best to err on the side of going smaller.

Danville CA has a crop patterns dress in 12 and cascading tulle cardies s, m and l right now on their sale racks, for those who were looking earlier

I've seen the Rushing Ruffles Dress in store, and it's lovely. The jersey is super soft, and I think the drape is flattering. I haven't tried it on.But I agree, $188 for a jersey dress is too pricy.

Hi Sarah-I tried on the rushing ruffles dress- like Tien said, it's really lovely in person. It's very flattering on and comfortable. However, it is too pricey for me- $188 for rayon? No thank you.

Thank you, Tien and Molly Darling, for your reports on the Rushing Ruffles dress! I will wait for a sale!Sarah

Someone snag the scarf-tied oxfords! I can't believe there's a pair on sale. They are wonderful! They run small, so if you're an 8, these will work for you!Mine are 7.5s, and I'm a 7. There's a little room in the 7.5s, and I certainly could have done either. I not only paid full price for mine, but I had to wait over a month on backorder to get my lovely shoes. These are easily my favorite pair! I would wear them all the time, but I'm afraid I'll ruin them.

I didn't see the price on the scarf-tied oxfords, but I'd definitely give them a call and check on them…I was so excited when I first saw them and so sad they weren't my size. They also had a few pairs of the luminous boots I believe in 7's. I also saw the Narration Booties for $39.95 in the Marlton, NJ in size 7, too big for me but such a steal…this was yesterday so not sure if they're still there.
