OOTD: What I will be wearing this week

Good news: I finally found a spot in my apartment where the light is good enough to get decent shots! The bad news: It’s right next to my AC/heat unit. Yay! Next goal is to get a DSLR at some point…but I should probably pay off my credit cards first. So til then, iPhone will have to do (my Canon for some reason was adding like 20 lbs in every shot. I think my lens might be warped).

My face is still a bit swollen from Rosacea treatments I received in December but I feel so much better that I don’t mind the puffiness. The new facial regimen I started is also helping tremendously. It means I can wear red again without fear of matching my face! (Ha.) This sweater is one of two I own from Ann Taylor Loft. They’ve impressed me with their new designs this winter but I’m still disappointed in the materials. Mostly acrylic, rayon, polyester…blech. I’d rather pay more for something that I know will last. This sweater (a cotton/rayon mix) is passable and the red is exactly the shade I’ve been looking for. I wish J.Crew had made their Shirred Deco Skirt about 3 inches longer. Other than that this outfit is winter perfection.

In this outfit:
Sweater: Ann Taylor Loft Button-Detail Scoopneck (now $30)
Tank: J.Crew sparkle tank in silver (similar here, here and here
Skirt: J.Crew Shirred Deco Skirt (similar here, here, here and here
Tights: Hue Opaque Tights ($13)
Shoes: Oldies from Nine West (similar here, here and here)
Necklace: Rachel Rachel Roy (couple others by her here and here, similar here and here)
Earrings: Anthropologie (similar here)

These are some older shots but this will be Tuesday’s outfit. My beloved Ferrous Flower Sheath is a winter staple for me. I just love the menswear quality of the dress mixed with its cluster of flowers. The shoes are from Ann Taylor. They took a couple of wears to break in but now the aubergine color is easy to mix with most of my outfits.

In this outfit:
Dress: Tabitha’s Ferrous Flower Sheath (similar here, here and here)
Cardigan: J.Crew jewel-buttoned cardigan in navy herringbone (similar here)
Tights: Berry Bush Tights ($18)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Perfect Leather Pump ($155)
Jewelry: Forever 21 Apple Jewelry Set ($5)

Wednesday means lots of walking so jeans become my weapon of choice. My Climbing Cowlneck is the base shirt though it’s hidden by the High Speed Cardigan. My Snakebite Belt has gotten tons of use and it’s actually stretched a bit. Has anyone else noticed this with theirs? It’s almost loose now. I have a confession to make too: I don’t find the Cole Haan Air pumps very comfortable at all. I own two pairs and I’m wearing them but they blister my heels every time and I don’t get the arch support I want. I won’t be buying any more.

In this outfit:
Sweater: High Speed Cardigan (similar here and here)
Top: Climbing Cowlneck (expected back online next month)
Belt: Snakebite Belt ($32)
Jeans: AG Durini Stilt ($150)
Shoes: Cole Haan Air Almond Pumps (similar here and here)
Jewelry: Oldies from Old Navy

Here’s my new Milady Skirt! I already love it. The tights in this outfit are most likely going to be swapped out for grey, just because the black to red transition is a bit too much now that I’m seeing these photos. I lurrve my Laced Dots Sweater. It’s a guilt-free full-price buy from late last year. Tons of compliments every time I wear it. If you can find it on sale I highly recommend it!

In this outfit:
Sweater: Laced Dots Sweater (more polka dots here, here, here and here
Skirt: Milady Skirt ($88)
Tights: Hue Opaque Tights ($13)
Shoes: Nine West Naughty Flats ($60)
Necklace: NY&Co oldie (similar here, here, here and here
Earrings: NY&Co oldie (similar here)

Finally on Friday I’ll be going straight from work to meet some friends for drinks. I love the Chanel-esque tweed jacket with a modern twist. I grabbed it at Urban Outfitters last fall and it was my go-to weekend jacket. I hear it might be warm on Friday so I’m prepared! Something tells me I’ll be wearing a winter coat over all of this though.

In this outfit:
Jacket: Urban Outfitters (similar here, here and here
Top: Lady-of-Seville Tank (similar here, here and here)
Jeans: AG Durini Stilt ($150)
Boots: Steve Madden Latchh boots (similar here)
Necklace: NY&Co (similar here, here and here)
Earrings: NY&Co (similar here and here)

Love the laced dots outfit! I actually got it on sale but it was too itchy (most wool items for me) so sadly I returned it.

Super cute! What was this rosacea treatment you got?I'd love to know, I have VERY red skin on my face and it drives me crazy!

  3. January 25, 2010 / 12:36 am

May – I have heard others say the same — I am pretty itch resistant so it doesn't bother me.Krameymartin – I got a pulse-dyed laser treatment. I had 3 sessions in total over 1.5 months. I have Rosacea right across my nose and on my cheeks. After the first treatment my face hurt a lot, but it died down after about 24 hours. The last treatment barely hurt. Now a few weeks later my face is much softer and back to my normal skin tone. It's pretty awesome!

The outfits are super cute!I love the high speed cardigan on you. Man, do I wish I had gotten it :-/Do you mind sharing what rosascea treatments you've gotten and what products you use? I'm extremely fair skinned and suffer from rosacea and am always trying new products, but nothing has really helped. (I haven't undergone any treatments yet)(If you prefer to email me, please do!)Thanks 🙂

Nicole – I will do a post on my face stuff later this week. 🙂

Thank you so much Roxy!I am hoping that maybe something you use can help and I can start to wear red again! (I haven't since I was a little girl)

  7. January 25, 2010 / 12:46 am

I love the laced dots sweater on you! It took a lot of willpower to not buy it- but there's really no need for it here! 🙁

  8. January 25, 2010 / 12:54 am

Roxy, so glad you're posting your outfits so we can see what you look like outside of the Anthro dressing room!! All your outfits are cute but I'm especially drawn to the laced dots sweater b/c I own it and love it to pieces. Also adore that outfit b/c you brought the red shoes out, love red shoes!!

Very cute – especially Wednesday. Apparantely I need to look at the Snakebite belt. Everybody has one and looks great in it!

  10. January 25, 2010 / 1:59 am

Cute! I especially adore the J.Crew Shirred Deco skirt and the Laced Dots sweater…both such pretty pieces 🙂

Roxy, What size Snakebite belt do you have? I just bought a medium one today, but I'm thinking I should wait till I find a small because everyone keeps saying that it stretches out!

  12. January 25, 2010 / 2:08 am

sara22185 – I have a medium. I've worn it tons of times, it only stretched within the last two or three wearings. If you're in between sizes maybe best to go for the smaller one.

  13. January 25, 2010 / 2:46 am

I loooove your Wednesday look – you can really rock the belt over layers thing (I'm jealous of you gals with hourglass figures who are not straight up and down like I am).I've been eyeballing some of the Cole Haan Air pumps on Zappos and I'm bummed to hear they aren't that comfy, especially for the price. Do they fit TTS? I'm a 7.5 99 percent of the time except for J.Crew heels where I wear an 8.

  14. January 25, 2010 / 2:55 am

I size up 1/2 a size in the Cole Haan Air Pumps. (For reference, I'm a 9 in J.Crew heels and a 9.5 in their peep-toes.) I love them in theory because my feet are narrow. I'm not sure why they're not comfy for me but they do not match against the arch of my foot at all.

Have you tried getting the J.Crew shirred skirt let out? I was really on the fence about this one because of the length, but I took it to the store for alterations, and they did a great job letting it out. I asked them to give me as much additional length as possible, and I'd say I got at least another 2". Now I LOVE the length and the skirt and am wishing I had bought the wool one in more colors while I had the chance, in addition to the one wool and the black and white print that I have.

So lovely. Maybe I should take a cue from you and plan my outfits in advance as well. Awesome birthday haul *eyes jealously* ;-).

Love all the outfits! And yes, you do look thinner in these photos! You probably know this already but for the blisters on your heel, I've had good luck with using a blister block on bare skin or Foot Petals Heavenly Heelz with tights. Have a great week!

I am not a fan of the cole haan air pumps either. I just sold my last pair on ebay. I have a wide toe box with high arches, and those shoes just pinch!Love your outfits! I think you look fabulous in red!

  20. January 25, 2010 / 12:46 pm

WOW the milady skirt looks awesome on you. that's my favorite outfit.

  21. January 25, 2010 / 1:11 pm

love the outfits!roxy i have a question for youdo you have success in getting dresses tailored to fit? i want the great heights shift but it is too tight on top so the next size up the bottom is too large…argghI laughed about your comment about the cole haan pumps. I own 3 pairs, and they are feet killers.

  22. January 25, 2010 / 1:31 pm

ali – it depends on the dress. I think the Great Heights Shift would be easy to tailor because of the pattern — it's not matched up at the seams or anything. I say go for it, I'm waiting for it to go on sale so I can do the same. 🙂

The last outfit is my favorite. The proportions work very well on your figure.

  24. January 25, 2010 / 1:59 pm

Thanks RoxyI will give it a shot when it goes on sale;)

  25. January 25, 2010 / 2:30 pm

I love how you are able to plan all of your outfits. I have been eyeing that J Crew skirt on Ebay but I was worried the pattern was too much but it looks great on you. I'm just curious if others have this dilemma. Have you ever bought anything you loved and wanted to wear but didn't because you didn't know if you could pull it off or it would look silly?
