Reviews: Vermillion Flurry Blouse, Dewy Meadow Tunic, Bold Boutonniere…er…top

Note: I’m on vacation, but the posts continue!

Let’s get right to it, shall we? I’ll touch on the skirt later this week — for now let’s talk about the beautiful Vermillion Flurry Blouse $128 by Odille. I had to size up to an 8 to get the waist to sit around the correct place. I think that move worked out fine as the top isn’t too roomy. The detailing on the sleeves is fantastic. They’re ruched and then they have this white contrast piping and clovers on them. It’s a touch that’s part sailor but I am also getting an “I Love Lucy” vibe from this top. The bottom isn’t as poufy as it looks. I think the amount you see is from the skirt. I do like the proportions of this look though with the blouse against a mini.

The ruffles around the the neckline are gentle and not really overdone. I do think the color of this top is pretty intimidating. It’s so bright and combined with the style I probably would not wear it for winter. That makes it easy to wait for this one to go on sale.

Tiny’s Dewy Meadow Tunic ($98) has a lot going for it. Most specifically the length which I declare to be perfect on my 5’8″ frame. There’s just enough slight shape to it to keep this from being a tent. I could do without the racerback but that’s a quibble. My main issue with this top is that the lace strips are completely see-through, and one of those lace strips happens to lie right over the right breast. Sooooo…we have a tank top that you now have to layer a cami under unless you want to be a tabloid chasing hussy. Practical! My head spins at the decision.

I tried on my true size medium and it fit perfectly. I like each of the prints individually, even the lace. I just wish the see-through parts were lined. Come on, Anthro. This is not your hipster sister Urban Outfitters.

For those that love the idea of having a large flower smack dab over your chest but don’t want it in dress form, Burlapp presents this not-yet-on-the-website top. I’m calling it the Bold Boutonniere Top ($88) for now after its predecessor.

I like the look of this top a lot. I had the exact same issue with it as I did with the dress, which is that in my true size medium the flower is standing up a little too much for my taste. The fit of the top itself was fantastic. It’s got a tieback waist and the bottom plaid portion sits ever-so-slightly away from the body. For now it would work great under a cardigan.

Middle top is wonderful – too bad about the racer back (I only have one racer back bra) and the see through part. I would hate to have to wear a camisole underneath and ruin the neckline. It looks great on you! ANd I love the bright color of the first top on you. WIth your dark hair, it is wonderful. But I understand saving the brights for the warmer months. I wear mainly charcoal grey and black in the winter (I would wear it in the summer too, but my husband intervened.) The last top looks great on you also, just not my speed. I don't know how you can try so much on and not buy everything. If I were working this hard on reviews, I would want a reward (OK, many rewards!) Hope you are enjoying your holiday. HAppy Holidays to everyone!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues with the color of the Vermillion Flurry Top. The bright coral looked electric against my olive skin tone and black hair. It's just all wrong. The top is so gorgeous! I wish they released it in another color. If you're reading, Anthro, please make the top in another color. I would buy it in a heartbeat and I wouldn't even think twice about paying full price. Pretty, pretty, please?Hope you're enjoying your vacation!

That second top I LOVE! I saw it ont he website and was attracted to it because it was bright and shiny- lol, but thought it was just OK- I actually love it on you! I like lace and shine. And the bold boutineirre top- I loved the dress and only LIKE this top. Maybe because I can see a dress having a big flower on the bodice instead of a top..I dunno. It's hard to explain. it's still cute though!

Ooh, I never even noticed the Dewy Meadow top online, but it is so pretty! But yeah…the transparancy is definitely an issue, especially since it's a racerback — how exactly are you supposed to wear a cami under it for coverage? Unless I guess you get a perfectly-layered racerback cami I guess 😉 Or you can wear a cardi over it, but that's hiding the beauty! Sigh.I love the Vermillion Flurry, but I found it clung to weird places on my chest in the 6 and the 8. I'll have to try it on in a 10 (I don't remember the last time I wore this size in a top besides that Ruffian blouse) when I get a chance though, it's so gorgeous.Anyway, great reviews as usual Roxy. I am catching up on all your posts now after a long internet hiatus, sorry my comments are so delayed!

ok this is an extremely late comment on this post but I must have missed this review b/c of the holidays! I am super intrigued by the bold boutonniere top and was wondering if you could comment on the jersey part of the tank. is it nice and stretchy? because my chest was not having the dress version of this, but I love the idea of it and was hoping the jersey could accommodate a larger bust. what do you think? TIA!

hi kater — the top portion is pretty stretchy. I am a 34D and I fit into it fine. The issue for me was that the flower is really stiff, so even though the shirt stretches if needed the flower stands up. It looks kind of funny on larger chests to me.

thank you so much roxy! I think this is going to have to be a store try on for me per your caution. maybe sizing up will be the solution? how have I not noticed this in stores? I wonder if mine sold out really quickly while I was away for the holidays? Thank you so much for the help, as always!
