Reviews: Dandelion Wish Dress, Pins And Polkas Dress, Cathedral Arches Dress

Note: I’m on vacation, but the posts continue!

Burlapp has truly impressed me with their 2009 line. Their newest arrival, the Dandelion Wish Dress has the benefit of being in a winter color palette. The copper accents also make it somewhat festive, perfect for this time of year.

In the fitting room I wasted a minute or two looking for the non-existent side zip. Turns out this dress is pullover style. That meant a generous amount of stretch. Normally I have to size up in Burlapp’s frocks but with the stretch I was able to put on my true size 6. Once on I loved the dress still. The sets of stripes are a nice accent. The v-line neck with button details down the bodice was a great detail and the overall fit was very comfortable. I added this one to my wishlist. See it on Tien here.

Ranna Gill is another brand getting exposure at Anthropologie this year. This time I tried on the Cathedral Arches Dress ($248). The front of the dress is really interesting — it has all sorts of different textures and materials combined into a pressed facade. The cut of the back is great too! It shields the bra line but has a cool triangle shape.

Sadly I ran into fit issues with the dress. I grabbed a medium figuring this dress was a-line as the product shot shows. But like the Great Heights Shift ($148, review here) it was much more like a shift in real life. So while the medium barely slid over my hips it was very loose up top. As the third shot above shows I had a nice bulge in the bodice. Flattering! Or not. There’s no way a small was going to fit my curves so this dress went from must-have to back to the rack quicker than you can say ‘disappointment.’

Polyester is the enemy of any good dress. It’s the only thing keeping me from 100% loving Moulinetter Soeurs’ Pins And Polkas Dress ($158). Were this silk I’d be on board. These photos are of the 8, though I tried on my true size 6 later and it fit better.

I would need a cami for sure with this dress. The faux wrap style of the bodice was pretty revealing on me. But the banded hem, print and pockets were all winning features for me. I like this dress a lot. Enough to add it to my wishlist for sure.

I have the Pins and Polkas dress coming to me today. I'm excited to get it but did not realize it is poly. However, your pics give me hope it will work for me!

I adore the Dandelion Wish dress. It is so breezy, so cute, and so comfy! I've been wearing mine with the Gumshoe sweatercoat and herringbone knee-high socks. It was pricey, but so perfect.

Pins and Polkas dress was already on my wish list. I know its new, but hope it goes on sale and my size is still available. I know its poly, but hope its nice poly as if that exists?

It seems like the 1st dress has a fabric where you'll get a random pattern. There's a lone starburst in a prominent area. I didn't notice it in the same place on Tien. I love the 3rd dress, poly & all. I think we just have to accept that designers are working with poly — not just lower priced retailers. If it *feels* like silk, that's even better. $.02

I loooove the colors in the Cathedral Arches dress- so sad to hear it was a disappointment. I hate it when things don't fit right- it's like…who in the heck did they use as a fit model/mannequin while designing this, exactly?
