Speaking of anniversaries and birthdays, yesterday was Anthropologie’s birthday! They’ve been around since October 31, 1992 and in that time they’ve grown from one store in Wayne, Pennsylvania to over 130. 17 was my favorite year of life so far and I only wish the same for Anthro.
One of the most amazing things about Anthropologie is that they don’t advertise much at all. The only ads I ever see for them are text-based ones on Google. They don’t buy banner ads, they don’t buy pages in magazines, and they certainly don’t do commercials. Their success is mostly based on word of mouth and certain inexplicable media haters aside, the word seems to be overwhelmingly positive. It says something that they only continue to grow.
Happy 17th Anthro, and here’s to many more.
Anthro is going strong! I've read that despite the economic recession, Urban/anthro has actually seen profits this year! Happy b-day anthro, please give us some good sale items on tuesday!
