Florida, ahoy

swimmy swim swim

I just found out that I am going down to Florida next month. I have never been there and looking through my closet it is decidedly very New York City and not very Orlando. Already my mind has run wild with all of the possibilities of Anthropologie outfits to buy and take down there! I brainstormed up a few ‘Roxy on (not really) holiday’ sets to share.

Florida out and about | Florida day out | Florida by night?

Seriously though, at the risk of sounding clueless (though hopefully not tone-deaf), what do people wear in Florida at this time of year? You can all come with me — you just have to stow away in my suitcase and attend some meetings about the Internets!

I have the peasant top in your swim swim. Very cute. It also looks nice over dark jeans. You just have to wear a cami underneath because it is very see thru.

You might want to throw some sweaters in your luggage. If it is warm outside, the air will be cranked up inside. You shouldn't worry about what people where in Orlando, most are heading to a theme park. Anyway, the way you Polyvore, you must always look good!

YAY!!! I'm in Florida! I would LOVE to meet up with you at the Anthropologie in the Mall of Millenia in Orlando (which is a fantastic mall). Your outfits are pretty good Florida way, except for a few things you may want to think about… White is GREAT year round, but white + long sleeves + april (which goes from light breeze to stifling depending on the hour) = sweat stains. Eww. Short sleeves or tank tops are MUCH more practical. Also, if you plan on hitting the beach (a short drive away from O-town) you'll want wedges, not heels, or you'll have to take them off before you hit the sand, and that sand gets really hot. You will want a really light long sleeve sweater or even just a button down shirt that will fit in your purse because while it's radiant outside, the indoors is so air conditioned you'll start to shake. I love FL, and I know you will, too, but I want you to be prepared. I'm in St. Petersburg, but plan on driving over to O-town soon anyway (need some Ikea champagne glasses for my wedding in May) so let me know if you'd like to meet a devoted (blog)follower. 🙂

I was in Florida early last August and it was HOT and HUMID. I'm sure it won't be as bad at this time of year, but it might still be pretty sunny and humid. Also, I was wondering how your From-the-Ground-Up top held up in the washer? I finally bought it and want to take good care of it.

Hi T — my From the Ground Up top held up fine in the wash. I washed in on the delicate cycle in cold water and then let it air dry the first time around. The second time I forgot to separate it out and sent out my laundry and it came back fine again. (whew)
