Wish List: December 2008

Five things I am dreaming of this month…

5. What’s that you say?
The Wide-Eyed beanie ($34) is for kids?
Hmph. I might wear it anyway.

4. The Jam Jar cardigan ($298)
is a bit overpriced to me, but
the cashmere is oh-so-soft.

3. Don’t believe the photo above —
it doesn’t do the Hybrid Perpetual Necklace ($288)
justice.

2. The more I see this outfit,
the more I love it. It’s the Oblique Pencil Skirt ($88)
and the Baltzer’s Bridle Cardigan ($118)

1. The Tawny Lawns Bag ($258) would be
perfect with this outfit from J.Crew
(shoes by Anthro)

What’s on your wish list for December?

If my girl would wear a hat, I would be all over the Owl. I wish the kids clothes at Anthropologie came in larger sizes. Now that she is 2 and not growing as quickly (and going to school where she needs clothes), I would be ok with an 80$ sweater.

I have a question about a comment I heard at a neighborhood breakfast. I was complimented on my sweater (the Pick and choose in green with the At last blouse in white – also was wearing Anthro jeans) and I said I love Anthropologie, it is close, not terribly expensive and really cute clothes. My neighbor was telling me how much she liked the store, but she worried about looking too Anthropologie-ish. This is actually the second time I heard this comment in a week. I do buy outfits. Not matchy-smatchy, but if I don't by stuff that goes together, I won't wear it. ANd 50-60% of my clothes are from Anthropologie, do I need to worry about looking like a billboard for the store? I don't want my clothes to wear me. I always wear jeans, that just fits my lifestyle. Help me out. Am I too old (37)? TO many ANthropologie clothes? Is there such a thing?

i'm eying my wishlist, waiting for stuff to go on sale. last night i got the seneca jacket and a shirt that was on sale.Georgine, i was reading wikipedia and you're in the correct demographic, "designed to appeal to 30- to 40-something affluent professional women with total family annual income above $200,000" 🙂 since anthro just opened here i don't see myself coming and going in their clothes. i suppose if i did, i'd be more conscious of what i buy from there. however, i don't think you can ever look like a billboard for the store, since the brand isn't as obvious. i'm not sure what the comments mean, i mean- the clothes are "artistic" and a tad "bohemian" so perhaps that's what they mean? they're more stand out pieces than classics that blend into a wardrobe. i don't know… maybe next time you can ask. 😉

People, there have been some serious markdowns taken today. Serious!I called and got several price adjustments and caved and placed a new order for items on my wish list now on sale, since it is still free shipping for a few more days.

Georgine, I used to worry about being a billboard for J.Crew, but honestly the only people who know I wear so much are fellow aficionadas! Likewise, these days I wear tons of Anthro. I truly think their pieces are varied enough that there isn't a 'type' that peeps instantly recognize as being from Anthro. And you should wear whatever makes you feel beautiful and happy. 🙂 I see women of all ages in Anthro clothes. As long as it fits your personal style you're never too old.
