Guest post: Reviews by Ali

Note: I’m on vacation, but the posts continue!

I’m very excited to be running a guest post by community member Ali! She tried on several items and sent over her reviews. It’s great to hear a take from someone with a different build. If you’re interested in writing a guest post, drop me a line via email.

The first review is of the Whizbang Mini ($88). I liked the colors of this skirt, although the fabric reminded me a little of upholstery. The main problem with this for me was the fit. I tried on a size four which fit fine around the waist. However the material poufed out from the waist down which created a strange silhouette. It sort of looks like you are wearing a lampshade. At any rate not for me.

I tried on the Embroidered Patchwork Tunic ($128), mainly because I was curious to see how it would look on. I have to admit I had low expectations. The material is soft cotton with an ethnic style print. The fit of the garment is nonexistent. It looked like a cross between a serape and a tablecloth. It also had sleeves like batwings which added to the voluminous feel of the top.

The next review i have is of the Button Sampler Skirt ($78). I actually own and love this skirt. I am 5’7″ and somewhat curvy so a-line skirts work for me. I was lucky enough to purchase this at a store for $39.95. I got a size four and it fits TTS. i think the mismatched button are a nice quirky touch. It is a great wardrobe staple and very figure flattering.

The final review I have is of the Avenues-Of-Lace Blouse ($98). my photo does not do it justice. The print is beautiful with beautiful lace detail. The only thing which is a bit wonky is the banded hem that ties. I felt like that made me look blocky. Also the price point of 98. for a nearly sheer shirt seemed steep to me. I would definitely consider it on sale though. The top does run big and I sized down by one size.

Final item of today is one of my Anthro favorites. One of the best purchases I have ever made is the Latte Bowl ($30). I have them in a myriad of colors and they are the rare item that is both beautiful and useful. Over the years I have given them as housewarming gifts and bridal shower gifts. What are some of your favorite things you have purchased from Anthro?

I love those latte bowls, too! I have some for everyday use and some for display. My favorite anthro purchase, however, is the "Gaggle" measuring cups. Seeing them on my kitchen windowsill every morning makes me smile :)I also have this sparrow top in the faintest pink with 3/4 sleeves, and multicolor flecks of color. It's a poly blend and I got it for $19.99 years ago, but I reach for it time and again. Thanks for standing in for Roxy!

My favorite Anthro items would have to be a pair of throw pillows that I purchased a few years ago. The embroidery is so detailed and defined. I loved them so much that I purchased 2 more the following year. Last year after Christmas, I purchased 3 fish ornaments. I didn't get to appreciate them until this year when I took them out to hang on our tree. As far as clothing-my all time favorite is a lime green jacket by Tabitha that came out a couple of years ago.Can you guys tell I love Anthro???

My favorite Anthro clothing purchases so far have been my Winged Victory Top, my Ric Rac purple top with the multi-colored net-like print for the shoulders and neckline (not sure its name), and my Reversible Knotted Tank in the grey motif from this past summer. My favorite Anthro knick-knacks have been my little Message in a Bottles (not sure what they are called) that recently went on sale and my Garland Monogam Cards. Thanks for the post!! 🙂

I own a few of the Latte Bowls as well! They hold up really well and I like that they're available in a wide variety of colors. My favorite Anthro purchase ever is probably the Wildflower Cardigan from 2007. I use it as a jacket in the fall and for it's true purpose in the winter. From the home side I've mentioned this before but I love mixing an matching their stemware for parties. Right now they have several great pieces on sale for under $10 a piece. Thanks again Ali!

Loved that you included some homewares 🙂 I have 2 latte bowls and also love the little version (forget the name – small bowls) that I have in several colors. Hard to pick favorite purchase but it may be my Little Ella ornament I just got 2 days ago and the little dress form outfit ornaments that I got last year – beautiful complete outfits with purses on gold dress forms. For clothing maybe the first thing ever, my gorgeous deep inky blue Elevense corduroy Coat with ruffle trim and waist tie and gorgeous blue and cream swirly lining. Thanks for the post.
