I was so very excited to try on the Potter’s Wheel Cardigan ($239). As much as I liked the Plaza Cardigan ($128, reviewed here) I was sure I was going to like this one more. It’s a steely grey-blue! It has chiffon ruffles!
And once again I was wrong wrong wrong.
The middle shot is everything that was wrong — the ruffles looked like they were pulling down instead of gently cascading and my hips look huge. I tried on a small (too small in the arms) and a medium and neither made me happy. A big issue is where the buttons start. They start about halfway down the cardigan and that is just not flattering to my shape. The left photo above is the small and the other two are the medium.
From the side I liked it better. Open it was OK. But I’m not gonna buy a cardigan that I can’t close and feel comfortable. Especially not one over $200. I was so disappointed because I wanted to love this cardigan! I still think it is wonderfully made and of very high quality. And I think that someone with a leaner straighter body could pull this off beautifully. Alas for me it was not meant to be. Wah.
this was on my wish list, but it would never work on me with my hips. thanks for posting pics.
oh no! the design of this is truly tragic. i wanted to like this one so much too, but what on earth were they thinking? it looks pretty nice open, and even from the side, but closed… the v-neck plunges so low that the placket and ruffles do nothing but emphasize and add volume to the hips and belly…so unflattering on every single body type! i think you make it look as cute as it can though 🙂
Oh, yeah – definitely go for the plaza cardigan, it was so much cuter on you! I picked it up this weekend in the black – I love it! I can't wait for it to be cold enough to wear it 🙂
Ohhh, something is really off with this. That's a bummer- thanks for posting the IRL pics lovely lady, they help a bunch!*steers clear*OH. AND AHEM. HAVE YOU SEEN THE CAPE YET?!I'm dying here- no bloggers have reviewed it yet and I'm still waitlisted until 9/15!
yeah it looks a tad frumpy – not you, just the cut of the cardigan in general. Tis a shame though.
No sign of the cape yet. I scoured all 3 NYC Anthros with no luck. The second I know it's in stores, I'll be there to do a review.
Chloe, which cape? The Somerset Cape? I remember talk about a cape in previous posts, but can't find them right now? Thanks!
It's the Boucle Cape Georgine.
