Last Day for extra 40% off sale at Anthro, plus 35 new arrivals I love

This post contains affiliate links. Please read this blog’s disclosure post for more info.

Note: Later today, I’m having a blog sale!

It’s your last chance to get dressed with Anthropologie for a little bit less — today is the final day of their extra 40% off sale promotion, and lots of delights remain in-stock online. One of my most recent sale wins is the Arboretum Skirt (now $80 + 40% off) which comes in three beautiful patterns including the Fall-ready orange motif seen above with the Stateside Striped Scoop-Neck Tee (now $40 + 40% off) and the sold-out Current/Elliott Rolled-Sleeve Trucker Jacket (available in very limited sizing here and here) and Birkenstock Metallic Arizona Sandals.

The skirt runs tight around the waist and then releases around the hips, which for me is perfection and meant my usual size 10 was ideal; for anyone with closer measurements between their hips and waist, size up. The tee shirt runs extremely small but if you can get a good fit it’s a beautiful body-hugging piece.

The black version of the Arboretum Skirt is shown with the Emma Ruffled Top (now $60 + 40% off), seen above also with the extra-mini sold out Levi’s Distressed Denim Mini Skirt. The top was a total guess on my part that I was expecting to be too short and boxy, but it’s actually an ideal length to wear with high-rise pants or skirts and while a bit boxy, is quite flattering over my larger chest! Another unexpected winner for me and the discount is a delight.

If you like the mini skirt above, you can get in the same wash for full price here or nearly half-price for a lighter wash here.

Some of Anthro’s other latest sale highlights are the floral embellishments on the Twining V-Neck Tee (now $70 + 40% off), Embroidered Denim Anorak (now $90 + 40% off) and the Fluttered & Beaded Blouse (now $90 + 40% off). I also like the long and slightly ruffled sleeves of the Ruffled V-Neck Pullover (now $60 + 40% off) and the pretty embroidery on the highly layerable Lia Embellished Tank (now $90 + 40% off).

Want a full sale outfit? Here’s an idea below, featuring the Milana Silk Dress (now $250 + 40% off):

Another sale selection highlight is the latest Anthropologie/Mer-Sea collaboration, which just hit sale too. This collection of bath and lotion pleasures has been the only thing keeping me sane on my recent hectic work travel schedule! I always look forward to coming home and, after warmly greeting and reconnecting with my boyfriend and animals, soaking in a bath and then lotioning up with these products. The Cocunut Sugar whip lotion (now $19 + 40% off, above) in particular can not be missed. (Is it too early to suggest these as a gift idea?)

In the home sale section, I’m amassing quite a collection of cheese boards thanks to beautiful options like the Angled Inlay Cheese Board (not showing sale price online but is $50 + 40% off) and the Duo Inlay Cheese Board (now $50 + 40% off). For our entryway, I love the Woven Confetti Wall Art (now $145 + 40% off)! This piece is part of a very alluring collection of wall hangings currently at Anthropologie, one which features everything from the highly textural Ojai Fringed Wall Art ($68) and Navy-Dipped Kilim Tapestry Wall Art ($228, my favorite) to the more sculptural Solar System Wall Art ($78) and Fringed Wall Art ($98-$198).

More of that collection:

Before we get to all the sale picks, I also want to highlight some of the cutest new stuff in at Anthropologie. It’s likely we’re headed towards a full-price promotion in the next couple of weeks and I am to be ready for it!

Scroll past all the balloon sleeves and weird fur coat concoctions and you’ll arrive at pretties like the Matilda Buttondown ($78), Long-Sleeve Scoop Neck Tee ($68) and the Dotted High-Neck Blouse ($118, above).

From wrap dresses to lace-up boots, here are 35 of my new wishlist items:

You can get more of my new arrivals picks and thoughts in this post. Wrapping up this post, let’s take a look at highlights from the last day of Anthro’s extra 40% off sale. What will you be shopping for at Anthropologie today?

I had no idea that Anthropologie had anything other than clothes so imagine my surprise when I discovered they sell bath products as well as home decor! Thanks for the heads up!

    • October 9, 2017 / 11:10 am

Yes!! And while I don't normally go to Anthro for beauty/bath stuff, the Mer-Sea collab is well worth hunting down! It's amaaaaaazing.

Anthropologie is one of my fave brands but, I'll admit, items can get expensive! Thanks for the heads up on the great savings!

You're welcome! Cheers to great stuff at a fabulous discount. ?

There are tons of cute things in this post. Thank you for pointing them out! It has been quite a while since I have shopped at Anthro but I stopped in yesterday on a whim. I have a question….I wanted to buy the polka dot pilcro jeans but they were sold out in my size in store and on-line. I used to be able to call the main number and they could look for stores that still had the size needed. I would then call that specific store and have it shipped. When I called the main number, the rep told me they could not do this anymore. Is this true or did the rep just not want to look for me. So frustrating. Why make it harder for a customer to find an item they want??!!

    • October 9, 2017 / 11:08 am

You can still do a store search Trg! But now instead of calling the main customer service line you'll want to call a store instead. I recommend calling one of the large format stores, such as…

      Westport, CT
      Palo Alto, CA
      Newport Beach, CA
      Portland, OR
      King of Prussia, PA
      Walnut Creek, CA

I agree it's very annoying…but Anthro has installed some very confusing and customer-unfriendly policies in the past year, so nothing really surprises me anymore. Good luck on your hunt!

Hi–as an Anthropologie employee, we can look up an item in the company's
inventory–it will tell us if there are any of the item available in the US–it just does not pinpoint the location. If there is, say, one item left in your size, we can order it for you. Yes, there are some issues with incorrect inventory count based on many factors, but it is a pretty effective tool rather than calling up individual stores.

In new arrivals, I’m loving the Turia Pencil Skirt. Reminds me of the kind of thing I used to buy from Boden. I’m a little worried about fit though because it comes in S/M/L rather than number sizes. http://shopstyle.it/l/jUJe

    • October 9, 2017 / 11:28 am

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw the Boden-ness in that skirt! I'm updating your comment to add photos and swap in an affiliate link — happy to change it back if you prefer. As far as sizing goes I'm guessing it's similar to those Maeve knitted pencil skirts of a couple of years ago, which have a lot of give.

Boden post coming up this week.

      October 9, 2017 / 12:01 pm

Thanks for pointing out this skirt! I can see how it is Boden-esque but I like it so much better than actual Boden: it is funny because I like their styling a lot and fabrics but for their prints I often feel that they are TOO graphic, like lacking in color shading and too much pattern repeat per item. I feel like the item would wear me rather than the other way around. I love these skirts for the complexity of the prints and the varieties of colors for matching with tops and shoes!

      • Lori
        October 9, 2017 / 10:29 pm

Same here, I want to love Boden, and the prints are improving but always a bit too cutesy. These Anthro skirts feel a bit more sophisticated somehow.

      • October 10, 2017 / 8:41 am

Yes I think the issue with Boden's prints is that they are too repetitive and geometric, versus more modern prints which have overlapping and a mix of sizes. They are getting much much better (their Icons collection for example was beautiful) but on certain pieces, it's noticeable. I've grown to love the quirkier patterns, but I get what you're saying completely.

Those eyeball earrings are one part creepy, one part cool. I have them on my wishlist too, and can't decide exactly how I feel about them. 🙂

    • October 9, 2017 / 11:28 am

I think they're cute! You really can't tell that they're eyes unless you're up close…from far away they just look a jewel inset. Or a crown.

I feel as though there is very little appealing to me clothes-wise at Anthro in the sale or new arrivals departments. The new arrivals seem to be the exact opposite of what survey takers asked for. I have been lamenting this to my husband and in his analytical opinion he said, that seems like a business disaster–take what made you great in the first place, and then completely go away from it. I'm sorry, but I see NO evidence yet that they are listening to their customers complaints about trendy, ugly, unflattering, unwearable clothes!

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:18 am

Well the latest survey only came out a month ago so I would not expect changes yet! That said, yes we have been saying these things for quite a long time and Anthropologie doesn't seem to have done a thing about it…soooo, when are they gonna get a clue?

I do love Anthropologie. They always have unique finds. But my are they ever expensive!

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:18 am

They certainly can be on the pricey side, so a promo like this is well-timed!

  8. October 9, 2017 / 1:45 pm

There are a lot of cute things here. Some are too out there for me–I don't do ruffles as a grown adult–but I do enjoy the boho look!

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:19 am

You are missing out on ruffles! I adore them, but I hear you. Boho is one of my favorites as well.

I love some of these looks, and I've never even shopped at Anthropologie. I guess it's time for me to take a look, who can pass up a good sale?

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:24 am

Welcome to one of my favorite stores Beth! Although they've been off their game lately I hope you find some pretties to like.

  13. October 9, 2017 / 3:37 pm

I love anthropologie, they have awesome pieces. I often think they are overpriced though so this is a nice sale!

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:24 am

You really can't beat an extra 40% off.

  14. October 9, 2017 / 3:57 pm

I love a good sale, and all of these pieces look fabulous. I will have to check it out and see what I can find because it is hard to turn down that much of a discount.

I love all the looks that you highlighted. Anthropologie really has a great distinctive look. And of course, a sale is always phenomenal.

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:27 am

Yes, Anthro does have a certain look…sadly, that look right now isn't what we know and love, but it's still a look! Extra 40% off certainly helps make it more appealing to look again.

Loving the selection. There isn't anything I do think is super cute!

Maybe anything you don't think it super cute? ?

  18. Stefanie
    October 9, 2017 / 6:27 pm

Is it just me or are a lot of the above comments a little over the top in terms of Anthro love?

Anyway I bought: the Willa jumpsuit, shine tank, embroidered high-neck blouse, and t-la tie waist jacket in Black this sale round. Good deals on all with the 40 off. Still waiting for the shine tank to arrive. Hoping to wear over the holidays.

Still not as excited as I used to be perusing the site. Too much crap in between the far-too-few goodies. Used to be the other way around.

    • Eina
      October 9, 2017 / 11:14 pm

Yes, the comments are creepily like bots.

I thrifted an old Anthro cardi from the Moth brand. So yeah for me. Looking forward to the later Winter new styles, those are usually my favs.

    • Barbara
      October 10, 2017 / 12:02 am

No, Stefanie, it is not just you. Those comments jumped out at me as being bots or something. They are almost too similar to one another. Nice try, who's ever trying to make us believe you haha!!

    • Anthropolitan
      October 10, 2017 / 6:31 am

I was thinking the same thing – who are all these people, and where have all the regular posters gone?

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:12 am

Sorry ladies! I am trying out a blog comment swap, and a lot of these bloggers just don't know Anthropologie like we do! It's a trial and error, I'm trying 3-4 groups out right now and some of the bloggers don't appear to speak English as their first language, hence the weirdness of their comments. That said they are real people and not bots so please treat them as such — like me, they are just looking to grow engagement and experimenting to see what works.

The point of these groups is to get natural comments that stimulate the discussion here, as people are very likely to read (over 10,000 of you per day!) but comments are much less likely. It's not something I'm doing on every post but I am experimenting with blog comment swaps right now on 1-2 posts per week, sometimes less. Often here just a few extra comments by outsiders or less frequent visitors get the convos going and that's what I love!! Obviously this experiment went sideways and I apologize for that — it's not my intent to just grab a ton of comments, and usually even in the comment swaps the quality is much higher. I don't know til I try! Like it or not, brands want to see engagement and this is something I'm figuring out — what content works? What helps get more good organic comments? Etc etc.

If you want more info, please read the disclosure post linked at the top of the page!! Or email me.

        October 10, 2017 / 10:25 am

It’s like fake news. Not a fan. Just being honest. IMO you’ll lose your loyal readers/commenters with phony comments like the above. It’s like Instagram but worse.

        • October 10, 2017 / 10:40 am

Some of these comments clearly don't fit — that I agree with. Yes it's totally lame that in this case I ended up in a commenting giveback swap with bloggers clearly outside the aesthetics of this blog, and as such their comments add little to the conversation and are very out of place.

However, in some cases I've gained new regular commenters here via these groups so I can't agree that it's fake news. Some of our most wonderful comments are people who found me via other blogs or groups like the ones I'm trying out now! Some of the bloggers I've met through these groups have become collaboration partners too and we help share each other to our audiences which in turn brings new organic engagement. You're noticing all the out of place comments sure, but there are plenty of times where people come here for the first time via a blog comment swap and have plenty of great stuff to add to the discussion. Perhaps you don't notice those as much because they fit in? And often, stick around?

        • Barbara
          October 10, 2017 / 2:31 pm

I agree. It is like Anthro propaganda. Please don't ruin your blog!

          • October 10, 2017 / 2:41 pm

            Ok, heard and understood.

          • Jess
            October 10, 2017 / 3:11 pm

Yes I agree! I was wondering who all these new people who all of a sudden came out of the woodwork are haha! Very strange but I can understand experimenting to see if new things work out. I think in this case, it feels a bit forced and out of place though.

That said, I've pretty much been taking a back seat with Anthro lately other than an awesome pair of velvet pants I purchased from AG in a most gorgeous wine color:)

          • October 10, 2017 / 5:15 pm

Those AG velvet pants sound lovely Jess!! ??

          • Jess
            October 10, 2017 / 6:44 pm

I highly recommend them Roxy, they are SO comfortable and the color is a perfect wine/jewel color, very pretty pants!

      • Anthropolitan
        October 10, 2017 / 3:00 pm

Thanks for addressing this openly, Roxy.

First of all, for those who are new here and intend on continuing to contribute to the community – welcome! I look forward to getting to know you and your fabulous style. 🙂

But…. I have to agree with Stefanie in that the sudden volume is off-putting. I'm willing and happy to engage with one or two people who are new and genuinely interested in participating, but when 10+ people jump in at once and their comments seem manufactured, I'm not going to want any part of that. It's overwhelming and doesn't seem authentic. Just my two cents.

        • October 10, 2017 / 4:32 pm

          Thanks Anthropolitan. ?

        • Stefanie
          October 11, 2017 / 3:07 pm

          This ?
And I got my shine tank yesterday and I love it. Not too short, not too wide, flattering.

    • Michelle
      October 10, 2017 / 3:08 pm

Poor English aside, they're all the same: wow, great post, great sale. These comments aren't going to generate any conversation or discussion. It's all insubstantial babble. It's very obvious they neither care nor know Anthropologie. One didn't even get the name right.

      • October 10, 2017 / 4:31 pm

Yes I totally agree! Usually I don't have so many — maybe 5 to a post, but I didn't realize I'd posted on a weeklong giveback thread instead of a daily one so they'll keep coming for a little while longer. <img draggable="false" class="emoji" alt="?" src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/2.3/svg/1f648.svg">

I'm not looking for insubstantial babble. Usually the comments are so much better, and lead to further discussion here. Most bloggers are going to want to contribute good comments in the hopes you'll visit their blogs too, at least that's how I always try to go about these givebacks. This time? Clearly I went wrong.

      • Lori
        October 11, 2017 / 8:56 am

I agree, very off putting to see these generic comments, but the irony is that the "bot comments" did generate conversation from the regular readers.

        • October 11, 2017 / 9:09 am

Yep, but not in the way I'd hoped! ?

  19. October 9, 2017 / 6:49 pm

Gah! I was supposed to be on money diet this week – hadn't heard of this brand before, but I sense another site is being added to my bookmarks 😉

    • October 10, 2017 / 8:43 am

Oh no, lol! Well I always put my wallet away when I need to save and enjoy window shopping instead. Maybe just add some items to your cart and then leave them there, don't buy them? Wait a couple of days and see if the impulse is still there or if it's faded. That often helps keep me from going overboard.

  27. October 10, 2017 / 5:37 am

Haven't heard about this brand before, but I am already in love! Those are some great picks, blush tones are my absolute favorite!

Mine too! Blush is one of my absolute favorites and acts as a great neutral.

  28. October 10, 2017 / 7:31 am

Anthro is one of my favorite stores, even if it is a bit pricey. I always find great things on sale there. I just bought a dress I had my eye on in August for 50% off. I'm trying to be good and hold off on anymore clothes until closer to holiday time when I usually stack my want list with items from there. We will see if that happens.

    • October 12, 2017 / 11:39 am

Nice score on the dress you wanted for 50% off! Things are mostly going on sale at Anthropologie relatively quickly these days, or at least on promo, so it's possible to get some great deals even on the pricey stuff.

I have never shopped there before. But look how awesome these all are. I would love to take a look at them all once pregnancy is over so hopefully something fits. So awesome.

ugh, every time I check Anthro it just gets uglier and uglier! I used to be an SA but it became too much to handle when policies and management changed and we were incredibly pressured to buy everything to wear to work. Really toxic. I hope they realize what they're doing and return to the roots of the company – used to be a favourite of mine.

    • October 12, 2017 / 11:39 am

Oh no!! I can't say I disagree, it takes so much more hunting to find the cute stuff now. I wish they'd get back to their roots too.

I have recently purchased the following: The Benna wrap jumpsuit–runs very big, but super comfy; the structured knitwear dress; the Anfisa tunic dress (LOVE it), the Chio brocade block heel sandal and the Silent D Careful stretch booties in pink. I am wish listing the Volume knit blazer (great fit and fabric), the Farm Rio Smocked floral dress, The Eden Dress and the blushed buffalo plaid blazer.

The Anfisa Tunic Dress is on my wishlist right now! Great pickups, and now I've got a couple of new things on my wishlist thanks to you MellyMel!

I wish I had more time to post reviews–I work a Anthropologie and try on everything. It is a dangerous place to work, but I really have to move something to buy it now. My manager and I love to discuss this blog at work–we find it so helpful (the fit reviews)!
