10 picks from Anthro’s extra 40% off sale promo

Anthropologie’s sale has hit whoa territory — this weekend, their sale stock is an extra 40% off. This would be much more exciting to me if there was tons of cute stuff to pick from…and sadly, there is not. That said, digging through sale I have found some items with potential, and one WTF item I need to discuss.

In the dress section, the most tempting item to me is the Striped Poplin Dress (now $100 + 40% off). Although I’m not thrilled about the bias stripes on the back only, I am delighted by the cut in front and the beautiful blue color. This dress is simple but not basic. Another dress that fits that description is the Skysail Ruffled Tunic Dress (now $100 + 40% off) which seems like a better price with this weekend’s extra discount.

One dress I already own and adore is the Gardenia Lace Column Dress (now $100 + 40% off) which is only left in one color online as of this writing, but it is a beautiful ivory-peach combination. This flattering, body-skimming dress is great for work or day. If you are curvy like me I recommend sizing up — I took a 12 in this dress.

Level 99’s Military Shirt Jacket (now $70 + 40% off) is also already in my closet, and it’s an item I already wear a lot and will well into Fall. You can see it on me here in my usual size medium. I recently bought the Estelle Plaid Tank (now $40 + 40% off) which I think will look cute under this midweight topper. The Pintucked Tank (now $40 + 40% off) is also a great option for under the shirt jacket.

Over in bottoms, the AMO Bow Mid-Rise Straight Cropped Jeans (now $170 + 40% off) are undeniably cute! These jeans runs very slim and very small — even two sizes up for me did not fit. If your legs are the right shape however, I am sure these are adorable and versatile. The embroidered trend gets a lovely take in the Pilcro Hyphen Embroidered Shorts (now $40 + 40% off). They have excellent reviews online.

In skirts, I am very pleased with the print on the Dusen Dusen Rose Tile Mini Skirt (now $100 + 40% off) — I do wish there were some reviews on it however! In the past I found this brand’s dresses to run large. I’m not sure how this skirt fits. I would pair it with a simple blue shirt and the Dusk & Dawn Square Scarf (now $60 + 40% off).

Over in WTF territory, someone needs to help me understand the Skirted Waterfront Pants (now $60 + 40% off), which is getting very good reviews…??!? To me it would be one thing if the pants were a skort and even then I’d still have trouble understanding it. This whole outfit is odd to me.

Below, more picks from sale. What have you purchased or tried on during this promo?

Happy Labor Day! I'm mostly a J Crew gal, but I found a lot to love with this sale both in store and online. Picked up navy silk crop track pants; love the style & can pair with Vince silk shirts & slingbacks. Also bought gardener silk pants; this is a beautiful print that will pair with so many options and since I live in Texas, will wear into the fall. Elevenses striped wide leg pants, abstract linen kimono, sunlight silk kimono, Avery skirt, Remy swing top in white, Emory dress, Kaimana belt, Wali pendant necklace and cowrie shell drop earrings with gold (super cute &'lightweight).

I'm all shopped out from Nordstrom and JCrew to shop the Anthro sale, but I appreciate the picks, Roxy! This is slightly OT, but has anyone else noticed that Anthro is pricing some petite sized items differently (as in, more expensive–ugh!) than regular sized items? Take the Knit Cadet Jacket by Marrakech as an example: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/knit-cadet-jac

The regular size is $148, and the petite size is $158. Not cool, Anthro. 🙁
