OOTD: Bailey’s Hot Chocolate

Happy Saturday everyone! (And Happy Hanukkah again to everyone celebrating. I love working by candlelight at nite.) It was unseasonably warm for a long time here in New York City but the cold weather has finally arrived. I don’t mind cold when snow accompanies it, but I hate the bitter cold snaps that just make the world look grey and sad.

To beat the cold, my friends and I love stopping into the 4 and 5-star hotels around the city and getting a Bailey’s Hot Chocolate. It’s a little taste of luxury and a little something extra to beat the cold. Plus we love people watching and try to imagine fantastical stories for each guest we see walking by. We were in midtown today so we went to the Four Seasons. It was crazy expensive so we won’t be going back, but it was a fun little pitstop.

Cold weather in December calls for darker colors to stay warm. I absolutely love the Free People Motorcuff Thermal ($58). It’s a nice midweight top with really cool metallic buttons on the wrists. I attempted to show them off in one of the shots below. I have been under the weather the last few days and practically living in this top. It’s so cozy and when it hits sale I plan to pick it up in a couple of additional colors.

It was cold enough that I wanted an extra layer for warmth so out came my old J.Crew puffer vest. This is one of my earliest J.Crew buys. I think I either got it senior year of high school or my first year of college. I remember how painfully expensive it felt at the time but I’ve worn it so much that the cost per wear is more than affordable. I love how it has both a zip-up closure and elastic loops that fit over each of the buttons. Ah, J.Crew, I hope you figure out your current quality issues. I will give them credit for something else though — I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they make wide-calf versions of their tall boots. My Brewster boots are one of my favorite pairs and I happily paid full price for them. Thank you for thinking of the wide calves, J.Crew.

Question: does anyone else’s hair change color with the seasons? My hair turns much redder in the summer but now that it’s cold the top of my head is filled with dark brown again. It’s kind of awesome though I wonder if it looks like a fading dye job.
