Reviews: Once & Always Tee, Wiley Tee, Craft & Creation Top, High Tea Blouse, Ornamented Obi Tank

The winning top?

I hope you’re ready for a good laugh. Because the first tee in this reviews set was ree-friggin-diculous. My hope was that Deletta’s Once & Always Tee ($58) would slimline me the way it does the dress form on Anthro’s website. Instead, in real life…

…this top was kind of a joke. The first issue is that though I grabbed my usual small I needed a medium or maybe a large. The second issue is holy sheerness Batman! I am surprised they didn’t just give us the front bib. I’ve already prattled on enough about this issue so I’ll just say I was non-plussed.

Fitwise, the small was constricting to say the least. The chiffon ruffle is very well crafted. The contrasting pale pink on the ivory version is by far my favorite. The ends however are pretty frayed on even the new shirts so you will want to use fabric protectant on this. Also fair warning that this shirt stretches a lot over the course of the day. All of these factors combine to make this top a pass for me, sadly.

One of Anthropologie’s strapless tops and the Foliage Fancy Tee (now $30) combined to make this new top, the Wiley Tee ($78). The overstitch corset looks like a pattern affixed to the shirt. The white part is heavily heathered but isn’t too sheer, aside from the lace inset panels.

I tried on the small. It fit well. A couple of the website reviews report that this shirt flares out at the bottom but I did not find that to be the case. I can remember lusting after a Victoria’s Secret top that was similar to this a few years ago. Now that my life revolves more around the professional I’m not sure this would fit into my lifestyle. I can’t put my finger on it but something about this top feels risquΓ© even though it’s not. Wishlisted for further reconsideration at sale time.

Deletta continues their affinity for attaching stuff to their tops with the Craft & Creation Top ($58). This top is made to be close-fitting so I tried on my true size medium, rather than the small I normally take in Deletta. And even the medium was quite tight.

I purposely grabbed the lighter green version (read sky blue to me) so you could see all the ruching and details. I’m not sure it’s most flattering color on me though with all the visible lumps and bumps. I would choose a darker version to buy. The cap sleeves are too short in my opinion but otherwise I like this shirt a lot. The crested sash is very pretty and the cowlneck sat nicely without revealing too much. This shirt would get a lot of use — I can see it for work, date night, a casual to nice event, etc. Wishlisted!

Floreat does it again! I loved their Secret Garden Blouse ($98) when I tried it on last week and this week I was equally enamored with the High Tea Blouse ($98) which you see on me above. It’s white on white with lace which is a combination I usually find too frilly, however in this case it’s so tastefully done that I swoon instead.

Since I found the Secret Garden Blouse to be roomy in the 8, I grabbed my usual size 6 for this blouse. And it worked! The length is still good and there was enough room in the chest. The underlayer is nice and crisp while the double burnout flower trails across the bottom are beautiful. This shirt has lots of lovely little details. I have been looking for a new white blouse and I think this is it. (It’s actually cream, not true white.) Wishlisted!!

After last week’s store inspiration post a community member asked me to try on the Ornamented Obi Tank ($78). I was happy to do so. This one.september tank features a cool mesoamerican-feeling print with an adorned obi sash. The hem is also very asymmetric, with longer tails in the front and back.

The small fit fine once I got the top on, but it was a bit of a game sliding the top over my chest. I had to do it very carefully. I would try a medium to see if it was more comfortable before buying. I was surprised by how flattering this top was. I expected it to make me look overly busty but the sash really balanced everything out. The sash has little circular rivets and metals attached to it and I find the effect very cool. I love this top! And now it’s wishlisted.

I think you should go for the Secret Garden Blouse, so pretty!I try to avoid tops with stuff attached. They add too much volume and are hard to wear with a cardigan. I wish Floreat had its own online store, they deserve more than Leifsdottir IMHO!

I tried on the Once & Always tee last night. I grabbed green and dark grey. I found it to be a bit small but the sheerness…wtf? Stop the insanity!

Sorry to be off topic, but I just wanted to pass on that the Pin-up Pumps aka Seychelles Come Dancing Heel are on sale for 30% off on Endless! I used Bing Cashback for another 30% off, so they ended up about half-price. I love these shoes. They are so amazingly cute! I hope this helps someone!

I just did reviews on the Once & Always and Craft and Creation Tops. The Once & Always looked awful on me and the sheerness was ridiculous! I tried a small in the Craft and Creation top. It was very tight on my chest. I thought sizing up to a medium would help, but seeing it on you, I think it would still be tight on me even in a medium. I love the Secret Garden Blouse on you!

Thank you Roxy for the mid-day laughs. I tried the Once & Always Tee awhile ago and thought "ONCE you try this on you will ALWAYS wish you hadn't." Your "bib" comment is what got me! LOVE IT! Is it safe to say we have been totally saturated with every possible way to embellish a t-shirt? I have literally seen it all now.
