Keep Calm and Carry On

Anthropologie at ShopStyle

According to the hipster’s guide to the galaxy you must have something with the “Keep Calm and Carry On” print in your apartment. Anthropologie is curiously currently carrying it as the Keep Calm and Carry On Rug ($498). I was first introduced to the propaganda turned graphic designer’s lament in 2007 via Apartment Therapy. A few months later my work had the poster version up in the office…now when I see it I get flashbacks of all-nighters at work and 99 Luftballons on repeat. (Don’t ask.) My current job has the poster in red. The background color certainly provokes some kind of buried rage in me.

In honor of Anthropologie carrying this decidedly Urban Outfitters-appropriate rug here are my favorite knockoffs. Graphic Designers are a sarcastic group to say the least. These are all from Flickr’s Keep Calm and Carry On Variation Pool. Maybe Anthro could offer these as customized versions?

And on a completely unrelated note, Happy 5770 tonight!!!

I want panic and run away!! To put next to the stay calm one I have…I guess it would have to be copied and blown up into a poster. Since they were off flickr I gather no one actually made them: ? Too funny. Thanks!Oh and agree with Pamela to pass on the rug. A poster will do. Rather have $495 of clothes….

My favorite reworking isn't on here! It reads "Now Panic and Freak Out" on a blue background. The King's crown is flipped upside down even! At http://www.keepcalmandcarryonusa.com they have mugs with this phrase on it. I'll probably stop back by there when I'm holiday shopping.
