Reviews: Purlicues Tank, Moon Phase Tank

There is something so simple yet so great about the Purlicues Tank ($78). The embroidered necklace neckline would look great under a cardigan or sweater in the winter and equally as nice by itself once the weather warms up again.

I tried the shirt on twice, once in blue and once in beige. Unfortunately I forgot to snap a photo of the tag and I can’t remember who this top is made by. I tried on my true size medium which fit well. I felt like the neckline made my shoulders looks slightly broader than they really are. This is a minor quibble though. The material is nice and soft, even at the neckline. I love the length! The embroidery all seemed to be done very well. For me the hardest part is going to be picking one color. I didn’t buy it right away but I will very soon. This is a great all-season top.

I was very eager to see Left Coast’s Moon Phase Tank ($78) in real life. The sequined neckline is a trendy touch and the pleats are visually interesting.

In real life the pleats were kind of strange. I felt like the shirt had just sucked on a lemon and was puckering its “mouth” as a result. I sized down to a small but maybe I should have stuck with my true size medium. There was definitely an issue with the pleats though. They were not sitting right. The hem also rises where the pleating is…I don’t know. It kind of looks like the shirt is snagged on something in real life. Puckered snagged shirt. The material is a bit sheer so I had my cami on underneath. This one wasn’t a winner for me.

Me too, and is very rare for me to pick against blue. The beige with the pink neckline is just a really nice combo.

Before I read what you wrote, I was with you on the puckered mouth look! It must be true. I agree with cs12 (and you)- the beige is great! I always choose blue, too. I really liked the beige on you. It looked better on your curves than the straight up and down mannequin!

That first top looks great on you. I love the beige color. (I also love your necklace.) I would head to my Anthro to try it on, but I kind of blew my budget today and will have to stay away.

I only saw the blue Purlicues Tank in store and loved it! If I remember correctly, it's made of wool (is that right?) so it's great for winter layering. The only thing that deterred me was the price – but the neckline is so beautiful & obviously involved a lot of work. I *almost* got it.On the other hand that MP tank – wow. Lemon-mouth is right. It looked so architectural from the pic, what a bummer it's not so thrilling IRL.
