Guest post: Shopping With Glee!

(Note from roxy: Please welcome Debbie of the wonderful blog Dark Horse and Sara from the equally amazing blog Mommyland to the guest posting fold!)

Imagine how fun it would be to go shopping at Anthropologie with the characters from Glee! Well, that’s just what my friend Sara and I did this weekend when we went to our store and put together outfits inspired by the distinctive personal styles of our favorite Gleeks, Emma, Rachel, Quinn, Tina, & Mercedes. The first three were fairly easy to create because Anthropologie fits perfectly with their respective styles (and they’ve all sported a few Anthro pieces on the show already). Tina & Mercedes proved to be a bit more difficult but I think we came up with some cute outfits. This was a really fun project to do and it made us try on some clothes that we never would have otherwise. Whether you’re a Glee fan or not, we hope we will inspire other readers to try out some different pieces the next time you go shopping at Anthropologie!

The “Emma” Looks: Debbie is wearing the Lemon Chiffon Blouse ($78) under the Roaming Frills Cardigan ($88) with the Fennel Flower Skirt ($98). This skirt is so much prettier in person than it looked online and it’s definitely made its way onto her wishlist! Sara paired the Field Scout Skirt ($78) with the Ambrosial Cardigan ($98) and her faux-Snakebite belt. She just tucked the cardigan up under her belt a bit to make it shorter, which we thought looked better.

The “Rachel” Looks: Debbie captures Rachel’s fun, whimsical look in the It’s Your Move Skirt ($98) along with the Summer Wandering Tank ($58) under the Roaming Frills Cardigan ($88) & the brown Snakebite Belt ($32). We couldn’t find the Homestead Denim Skirt ($88), which would have been a perfect Rachel skirt, so instead Sara used the Vappu Dress ($98) for a skirt look under the Field Game Cardigan ($118). Sara loved this dress so much that it came home with her! We thought that a cute dress that could also function as a skirt with a sweater or shirt over the top was definitely worth $98.

The “Quinn” Looks: It doesn’t get more perfect than the Sweet Shoppe Dress ($158) for a Quinn outfit, and Sara paired it with the Obscured Oleander Cardigan ($88). The sweater is such a lovely color! Sara also found a Cooling Palette Dress (now $100) left in the sale section and wore it with the Windy Dunes Cardigan ($88).

The “Tina” Looks: Debbie wore the Draped Appeal Skirt (now $50) backwards for a smoother look and paired it with the Decked Out Tank ($88) and the Whirl & Wind Cardigan ($88). The ($88), the Lace Tuxedo Cardigan ($118) or the Drawing Parallels Dress ($178) would have been great options too but we didn’t see them in our store. Sara tucked the sash on the Ornamented Obi Tank ($78) under her belt and wore it with the J Brand Shadow Blue Label skinny jeans ($174) and the Whirl & Wind Cardigan ($88).

The “Mercedes” Look: Debbie sported the Bustled Hoodie ($68) with the Insider’s View Shell ($68) and the People & Places Crops (now $70). This tank is something neither of us would have probably looked at but it was actually very cute. We also wanted to put together an outfit with the grey Secret Grove Tank ($68), the Trading Post Crops ($88) & a hoodie but our store didn’t have those pieces.

We’d love to hear what you think about our different looks. And please share your own ideas for Glee-inspired outfits too! It really is fun to try on the styles of others sometimes, especially when you get to play dress-up at Anthropologie!
