Reviews: Twist & Flow Top, Courtship Blooms Tank, Velvet Tee, Lunar Eclipse Top, Molded & Melded Tee

I just adored this look when I saw it in the March catalogue and since I’m nothing if not derivative I decided I had to recreate it. I’ve already checked off the Blooming Lattice Cardigan ($98, review here) so it was on to the layer beneath.

That would be the Twist & Flow Top ($78) which is still available through the March catalogue (page 82 for those of you playing along) but for some reason no longer has a product page…wtf Anthropologie?? This has been happening more and more lately. They were hung up with straps at my Anthropologie though it should be noted the straps are removable.

I tried on a medium. The fit was about what I expected — tight on top, pretty loose on the bottom. As soon as I saw the top I knew it wasn’t right for me. I do like it though; the top floral pattern is pretty and there is lots of twisting and draping in the fabric. The bottom portion is also very cool looking. Unfortunately this top was not meant for me but perhaps it will work better on you.

That disaster placed aside I moved on to the Courtship Blooms Tank ($58) which was already sold out in pink and grey at my store, except for the dress forms modeling them. I was jealous. So I settled on navy to try the top on. (And on a side note, kudos to Anthro for the additional detail shots on the product page.)

I grabbed a small which is what I usually wear in Deletta. The fit was fine though I would have liked a medium to compare against. The main issue for me is the cross drapes of fabric and how they lay across my hips. You know, rarely does a day go by where I don’t think to myself, roxy, if there’s one thing you should be accenting more, it’s your hips! There was also a nice weird opening where the fabric crosses. Luckily I was wearing a cami to avoid exposing belly. The shoulder pattern is lovely but what a waste. Back to the rack.

This top is by Velvet but not yet online. Update 11:59 — actually it is; it’s the Yardarm Tee ($58) — thanks ladies! It’s cute as a (trio of) buttons. Specifically, a small leak on the shoulder that has lace trim and a few tiny buttons. So cute! There’s one coin pocket over the left breast…not a fan. The shirt itself is very soft. My normal size medium fit nicely. I will wishlist this one as soon as it appears online, uh, if it appears online.

Oh, Lunar Eclipse Top ($78), I had such high hopes for you! You look really cool online and even in person your bottom portion is funky-awesome.

Not so much on though. It’s the top portion…yikes. This is one of those item reviews I hesitate to post because I so hate how I look but I guess you take the bad with the good. And this was pretty bad. I tried on a medium initially but sized up to a large for these shots. Not even close to decent. The bottom is far too lose while the top is pulling and stretching and just no. Not happening. Back to the rack.

The final top I grabbed was the super popular Molded & Melded Tee ($48). I like that Anthropologie is in their own way offering nice, versatile basics. It was slim pickings so I grabbed the sand color that is sold out online.

There were only smalls and x-smalls so I went with the former. It was definitely too tight though I’m sure my usual medium would be fine. This tee is what I think would happen if the Sungrown Tank ($58, review here) and Claudine Tee ($48, review here) met, fell in love and had a baby tee. It’s nice enough but I like the two “parents” better. Wishlisted for sale consideration.

lol funny what you said about the Molded & Melded Tee. The top looks really good on you, though I prefer the Claudine Tee. btw did you get to try on the Gaillardia Skirt, if so what size did you take in it, do you have any top ideas for it?

The velvet tee is online- I know because I bought it in 2 colors- I love it! It comes in white, gray and a red and white stripe that just appeared today. 🙂 Okay, maybe I bought the one that came out in red too! I have hard time turning down soft basics that I will wear all the time!

I like the molded and melded tee and will be watching it for a sale — was the sand color see-through? That was my problem with the ivory claudine tee. I think the twist and flow tank actually looks great on you. Much better than it did on me, that's for sure! Crossing my fingers that the blooming lattice cardi will work for me because I can't let that one go yet.

Thanks for the Meeting Place tank review in the previous post. I am interested in it but really want to make sure the bottom stripes do not hit too low. The blossoms blouse looks great on you Roxy — somehow I think the swags coming up to the waist look flattering…perhaps in another color you might like?I also tried the twist and flow and just found the bust too tight and needed to size up for a better look. Thanks again for your impeccable reviews!!

Love the Velvet top! I was considering it myself and I think it's online. It's called the Yardarm Tee. 🙂

Roxy, I love how the Molded & Melded Tee looks on you! Just thought you would want to know that it stretches, so you may want to stick with the small. I'm a medium and mine has stretched out a bit since I bought it.

I love the Molded and Melded Tee on you. It actually looks like it fits you perfectly. I wished it worked out on me. I guess I'm too short to pull it off. It just looks wrong on me.The Velvet tee is super cute on you, too.

The Yardarm Tee looks awesome on you! It definitely caught my eye on the website & I might have to pull the trigger!Anthro is killing me with their Spring stuff – ugh!

the molded and melded tee looks awesome on you! and i'm not loving the twist & shout top…looks good under a cami, but by itself it feels kind of circus tent?

The Molded & Melded Tee looks great on you! I'm going on a major shopping spree next week on vacation, and so I'll definitely be looking for both that and the Twist & Flow top. *wiggles*Great reviews, Roxy!

lindsey..elizabeth – thanks! I've updated the post. :)Stephanie – I did! My review is actually the second one on the product page and I'll run it here this weekend. It's very long and stretchy so sizing down is the way to go.Erin – hee! I agree, it is hard to buy just one of a tee so nice. I used to be so against buying doubles of things but I have reformed my opinion.Katie – yes, the sand was partially see-through. You'll need a cami underneath. marie – hmm, yes, another color might be the key with that one. tiredofskool – thank you for letting me know!Victoria – ah, thanks for the heads up. I hate when those tees stretch. :(Tien – I remember your M&M review, I'm sorry it didn't work out on you.Jessica – me too! I can't remember a spring collection where I liked so much. My wallet is crying.shares – LOL yes it does resemble a circus tent, but dang if that catalog shot doesn't look amazing!Chloe – I love vacation shopping sprees! They are the best.Naomi's mom – funny you should ask, as that's what this morning's post is all about! 😉

Also yeah – what the heck's up with stuff disappearing from the site?! The two-wheeler still shows up in my cart as available but I get the "Welcome to Anthropologie" screen when I click on it…

I really think the courtship blooms tank looks amazing on you! I actually think the split on the bottom draws your eyes in and away from the hips, not accentuating them at all! If anything, that top looks very slimming. I didn't really give it a second look on the site, but now that I've seen it on you I think I just might have to wishlist it 🙂

The Yardarm Tee by Velvet is soooo soft!!! I am an employee and somehow we recieved one of the tops without a pocket (which I wasn't fond of either)!!! It got marked down the 15% for being "damaged" and just happened to be my size, it also happened to be employee appriciation at the time so I got my additional discount off the already discounted price! I was excited!!
