…did anyone place an Anthropologie order and have it shipped to me??!? I just got a package today from Anthropologie with stuff I definitely did not order.
Color me confused. Please email me…you have excellent taste btw. 🙂
TWO UPDATES 5:47 PM:
– First, the person who placed the order contacted me and it is in fact a mistake. I have no clue how this happened though, sooooo weird.
– Second, Anthropologie is launching an official blog! I just found out from customer service. Undecided on how I feel about this (though truly, I knew the day for something like this would come.)
Update 2/22: Anthropologie reached out to me over the weekend to let me know that CS was mistaken — Anthropologie is not starting an official blog. More details here.
LOL that is weird Roxy! Doesn't it have a packing slip in it with billing info?Maybe Anthro sent you free gifts!
wow! a gift from a secret admirer? wish it were me but it isn't. do tell us the juicy tidbits 🙂 and enjoy? your gift?
Oooh, intrigue. Maybe ring Anthro with the order number or any details you can find? Fingers crossed it's a gift for you!
maybe it was a valentines gift for you 😛
hee, well if it is a gift I'm quite flattered. I just want to make sure that someone isn't missing an order. I would hate it if someone is waiting infinitely for their order!!
That would be my idea of the best day ever!!!
If it makes you feel any better, I've often opened the door and claimed in mock surprise, "WHAT IS THIS STUFF? I DO NOT REMEMBER ORDERING ALL OF THIS" hand-gesture hand-gesture infront of husband just so he *thinks* someone else ordered it and sent it to me.It's okay, Roxy. I'll play along. 😉
what is it and what size? maybe it was mine 😉
I received an order from Anthro once that I did not place. It turned out to be gifts my husband had ordered for me…using an account he set-up on Anthro's site. We have no idea how or why that happened especially since he had ordering from the site with no problem. Strange.
Are they things from your wishlist? If it's a public wishlist, it's possible somebody bought you some goodies! Is it addressed to you? What a fun mystery!
So sweet! I just got a pair of pants that were sent to me. I was really confused. I don't think they were meant for me, so I'm sending them back.
I'm dying to see what you received!
Um, that sounds like heaven. I guess call Customer Service?
I definitely have an order lost in transit. For some reason it is shown as going from Georgia to Washington, which is a strange way to get to Texas! It also has had no shipping updates after Washington and that was Tuesday. Lucky you though!! I'm really curious to hear/see what you got 🙂
I'm curious…what did you get?
This happened to me in 2006/(7?). I had placed an order recently and got two seperate packages; some stuff was stuff I ordered, but mostly it was not stuff I ordered and a lot wasn't my size. I thought Antrho had severely botched the order and called customer service. They told me my order had not yet shipped. I insisted that it had as I received it, but it was mostly wrong. I could not get the rep to believe me that I had received the order. Called back the next day and spoke to someone different; explained my package and was told my order had just shipped that day so I could not have received it. I was so frustrated because I could not get two different people to understand that I indeed had an order and it was wrong. I went online and checked my credit card but had not been charged (not even for the order that had just shipped). So I gave it a few days and my order comes in, and it's all correct. So I go online again to check the transaction and only the one I had just received was billed. I called again, spoke to a third person and explained the whole story but they insisted there was only one order shipped (same order number on both shipping docs!). I gave up. I kept my free stuff because I tried really hard to explain the situation to three people and noone seemed to care or believe me. Some of the stuff was really nice. I am actually wearing the 200 dollar coat I got from that free shipment today.
belated v-day present? i guess a call to CS is in order. do share whatcha got!
which items did you get??? were they cute? you should take pictures with them! =) i wish i could get a surprise package from anthropologie!!
I'm also dying to know what you got… Oddly, I've never received an incorrect item in all of the shipping orders that I've made over the years (probably somewhere between 50 and 100, since I live so far away from the nearest store).
Maybe someone sent it to as a thank you gesture for such a great blog.
Is it a XS teal rare bloom tee? I'm missing mine LOL.
I agree with Annie. I bet Anthro loves your blog as much as we all do!
that happened to me once before too! But i received duplicate of the order and they only charged me once…
Oh wow Roxy, I hope it was Anthro sending you a free gift!
That is sooooo weird. Not only that they sent you someone else's order, but also that said someone just happens to read your blog!!! (cue Twilight Zone music)
They should hire you, Kim, Tien, Dea, and Maria to run this new official Anthro. blog :)–Lauren S. (having trouble logging in)
Weird! Oh no, an official blog? I wonder what that is going to look like. I'm very curious, indeed!
Ladies, I am loving all the theories. And ROFL'ing at many of the comments. :DBetsy – LOL, I'm just happy the intended recipient is a reader.Lauren S – I wish they would!! I just hope they don't make me shut the blog down, I would be really sad.
Did they say when the blog will start?
I was thinking anthro sent them to you for being such a fab anthro-blogger!
Hi Roxy,I'm confused 🙂 I must be missing something… from your comment at 6:28p, how could Anthro make you shut down your blog??? I think no matter what they put out in a form of an official blog, you and Kim have such a devoted and loyal following, that our loyalties would be to both of you ladies before the companys blog.Elizabeth
I'm sure Roxy's just worried is all; they wouldn't/couldn't shut her down. Effortless Anthropologie does not claim to be the official Anthro blog, so she's fine.I'm not worried. I'll continue to read your awesome blog, Roxy.Oh and this:Chilling Effect
Additionally, unless they have women– of all sizes –to try on the clothes I just don't see how or what else they would have to say that would be that interesting. Also, I'm not sure they would be that interested in sharing sale tips and guesses on Monday nights.:-)
I totally agree 100% with anonymous on top of me!
Urban Outfitters already has it official blog. It's quite boring imo. Nothing is better than having reviews from an actual person/people.Oh how much I wish they shipped something to me by mistake!
Also, we wouldnt get a buyer's perspective – like quality of the fabric, actual length etc
Official blog, smchog! The reason that blogs like yours are such a hit is precisely because it's NOT official! As consumers, we've become very skeptical of all things 'official' – and therefore flock to blogs/communities like yours to hear the 'honest truth.'::steps down of academic soap box::So don't you go anywhere, Roxy – or the rest of you! I'll still be here, waiting for the next review, trying to guess markdowns, and hunting for coveted items for myself and others.
I was browsing the new Leifsdottir site, I want:http://www.leifsdottir.com/dresses/shibori-silk-dress/
I love the fact that you can leave reviews on Anthro's website, but the other day I found out that they actually censor what they put on the site. I left a lukewarm review of an about $400 item (shoes), and never saw it appear on their site. I then received a phone call from HQ that they were going to fix the issue I had with the item, but they never published my review! They sent me a new item, and it still had flaws! LOL!! That is why it is so good to have Roxy's blog where we get totally honest reviews.
Anthro may get an official blog, but I will never stop visiting you Roxy 🙂
Naomi, that is REALLY upsetting to hear! I wrote a very negative review for some boots back in October. It was posted, but I noticed that that was the day Anthro removed the number of the rating next to the stars. And it was then buried with positive reviews 😡
Lauren – I just went back to the website to see if by any chance they had buried my review among the other 20+ reviews, but no, not there. And the review wasn't even that bad, but maybe they just have too many of these shoes left and cannot risk an even slightly negative review. It is sad to read that the same thing happened with one of your reviews too. Disappointing really 🙁
Naomi-I've had a review censored out for language, I think. It was a glowingly positive review but it didn't get posted. The only thing I can think of was that I used the term "boobage"…I know better now!
Interesting comments about the censored reviews! I, too, submitted a fairly critical review that never showed up on the site. I thought it a was an oversight, but now I'm not so sure. It kind of irritates me that Anthro would intentionally hold back reviews of their items. It's just so shady, and seems like intentional misleading of customers. They should really publish any and all serious reviews, if for no other reason than to keep themselves honest.
Wow, I've written lots of reviews on Anthropologie – both positive and negative – and I've never had a review withheld. I try to be diplomatic, so maybe that helps (ex. I won't generally say "this dress is horrible" but I will say "the fit was horrible and the buttons were sewn on poorly"). To be quite honest, I've been pleasantly surprised by the fact that Anthro is willing to post some of the negative things that I write. After all, they're a business and they're trying to make money and my negative comments about fit, quality etc. probably don't help. I agree that they *should* be honest and post all reasonable reviews, but I can also understand where they're coming from. That's why Roxy's blog is so awesome! We can count on her being totally honest 🙂
I've read a number of scathing & relatively pointless reviews on the site (including once an advertisement for an outside product unaffiliated w/Anthro)…so it just leads me to believe that they have a fickle censorship process/standards. They do provide a set of review guidelines which you can access at the bottom of the "Add a Review" page.
Anonymous @ 6:32 PM – No, CS did not know when the blog would launch (they actually thought it had already launched).onomahimah – Sorry for the confusion. I'm not saying Anthro did ask me to shut down the blog, I'm nervous because I don't want them to ask me to. I hope that they would not ask that of me. It was me venting my anxiety. On the reviews topic, I've written some pretty scathing reviews that have been published (my reviews of the Granted Wishes Dress and Reveille Jacket come to mind) and Anthro has published everything. I have a couple of friends who noticed Anthro censoring their reviews though…I don't think it benefits them in the long run to hold back reviews JUST for being negative. If they're holding them back for other reasons I can't say because I don't know.I'm glad that you all appreciate the honesty here (and on Kim's blog, Tien's, Maria's, etc.). When I write a negative review I'm always worried because I don't want to offend anyone in the community that likes an item. But I agree with you that it's important to be truthful so I publish them (and hope the reaction isn't too bad). 😉
roxyyour blog is still the best!
Roxy — about Anthro asking you to shut down your blog, I'm 99% sure that they have no right to do that. You do not claim to be affiliated with them and you are not making money off this. There is nothing wrong with anything you are doing here. If you were an employee or something then they /might/ have a case (but even then, probably not). If Anthro asks you to shut down your blog, I'd talk to a lawyer. And then tell us about it because the day Anthro asks that of you will be the day I stop spending money there. Personal freedom is incredibly important to me, and that would be a completely inappropriate breach of your rights.
Could it be that costumer service was just talking about the "Anthropologist"? And that there isn't really going to be a new blog?! It seems like it… based on the her saying it was already running.MNK
Roxy, your blog will always been a million times better than any "official" Anthro blog. I read your blog every day and I love it so much because it has major PER-SON-A-LI-TAY! 🙂 It's genuine and super authentic and sorry but corporate American just can't duplicate that!
Update just called the Beverly Hills store for the Snow Scape tank and the smallest they could find was an 8.
Hi Naomii also found a few reviews censored, but what can you expect, they want to sell clothes;)

Hey Roxy, about the "official blog", I bet they will continue to show only models size 0 or 2 wearing their clothes, they won't say how to find the same shoes for less and they won't share secrets of hidden inventory items! I bet their blog won't be nearly as interesting as yours!!!
This story has a happy ending all around — the person who ordered the stuff got her package safely, and Anthropologie was kind enough to reimburse me for the shipping expense. Yay!!
