Reviews: I got the blues, part two

Spring, spring, a marvelous thing.

I had good luck when I tried on the solid Storybook Tank ($68, review here) so I was optimistic about the more coveted Ode to Spring Tank ($78). Both are pretty short and both have more than a passing resemblance to Floreat’s Polaire Vest from last fall. But while the Storybook Tank was a win in every aspect except length I was quite disappointed with the Ode to Spring Tank.

For one thing, the neckline on this one seemed twisted and no amount of wrangling could get it to sit right. Another issue is that the pattern sat wide on me and wasn’t very flattering. Sizing up to a large might have helped the issue even though the medium fit fine. I felt very blah in this. Total disappointment that went back to the rack.

Another top I’ve been waiting for is the Snipped & Stitched Tank ($88) from Project Alabama. This top fit me similarly to the other corset-style tops from this brand…the Magnetic Fields Corset, the Snowdrift Tank, etc. My true size medium was a close but comfortable fit.

Like with the previous tops, this shirt puckers from behind thanks to the exposed zipper. It wasn’t too bad on this top but certainly noticeable. I like the top well enough otherwise. The double layers of fabric with the surface print above are very cool and the icy blue color is a welcome surprise. I wish it were longer of course but I could always pair this with a skirt. Wishlisted.

I had tried the Felted Lei Cardigan ($118, style #913913) on awhile ago but the review must have disappeared into the abyss of my drafts. Never too late though this item is no longer online. I tried on the medium which was a close but comfortable fit. I’m not sure what’s going on with Field Flower by Wendi Reed but this year’s sweaters are fitting tighter than last year’s. Gets a big fat boo from me.

I did not like how sheer this cardigan is, nor how the front placket is wavy. But I like the sweater overall. The flowers are beautiful adornments and the aqua hue of the cardigan is just right for winter into spring, especially with the green mixed in. If this cardigan makes (made?) it to sale I would strongly consider picking it up.

The Felted Lei Cardigan looks great on you! But I agree, big boo-hiss to the increasing sheerness of cardigans – what do they expect us to wear underneath them? Isn't the point of cardis to complement what you're already wearing, rather that vice versa?

I have the Felted Lei Cardigan and I love it. I wear it with the Florid Facade Top under it and I leave the couple buttons at the bottom undone. The last time I wore it I also wore the Draped Pump they really helped pull out a little of the green color.

Thank you, Roxy, for posting the review. I asked for it on a couple of days ago. I already picked up a Medium the same day, after you mentioned the size you had tried on. 😉

Thanks for the reviews! especially the felted lei cardigan. Do you think you would get a medium or large in the cardigan if you were to get it? I think we're pretty similar in size but my stores are long sold out of it so I want to make sure I get the right size. Thanks again!

Hometown Queen – especially for a WINTER cardigan. Hello, I would like warmth please?!?!!Unguren – thumbs up — love it! Especially with the Draped Pumps, that must be really lovely.Anonymous @ 8:29 – true, though the top was not sitting right on me. Tricky for sure. ;)Anonymous @ 9:10 – ah, great news! So, umm, were there any more there? Because I think I need it now. Heh.Mel – hmm, tough call. I think I'd do the large so I could layer under it. But if a medium is all I could find I'd snap it up.

love the felted lei cardigan, but i'm disappointed that it's so sheer…random question: how do you access catalogs before dec 2009? people are posting sale items from oct and nov '09 catalogs and i can't figure out how to get to them. TIA!

I can't handle funny necklines on tops. The Crew has one right now that doesn't make sense to me either. Thanks for the reviews!

Random comment. By some stroke of luck, I got a pair of Winding Ruffle Boots for 59.95 at Anthro today! Not sure they look great on me, but couldn't resist the price. Bad strategy? Guess they are on their 2nd cut for anyone who cares.

Does anyone know how much the Felted Lei Cardigan is going for these days? I'm assuming that it isn't on sale, but I can't even remember the original price. I really loved that cardigan, in spite of the fact that it's pretty sheer…
