New arrivals: They will never call us plain or dull

RicRac’s Feathery Tank ($68) with the Over-Under Belt ($38)
and C. Keer’s Pratia Tank ($68, review here)

Already it’s easy to discern one thing from Anthropologie’s spring collection: it’s cheery. The palette is warm, vivid and (of course) embellished. Every time I think Anthro has done ruffles every possible way they can be done out comes a new shirt with adornments placed in a new way. The good news is I like all of it. The bad news is I want all of it!

Whether draped like Odille’s Striped Pursuit Top ($98) , ruffled like one.september’s Suave Shell ($78) and Collected Corolla Tee ($78, review here, now in pink for spring!) or bowed like Lil’s Gentle Waves Shell ($88) or Fei’s beautiful but short Off-the-Tie-Rack Blouse ($118), all tops aim to please. The Odille top is especially tempting to me — I dream of wearing it around Greece, maybe while riding on the back of a cute boy’s scooter?

If you’re looking for an easier shape Anthro has you covered still. The diagonal ruffles on the Oscillating Folds Blouse ($88) by Sine are made to flatter while the mixed media of Odille’s Garden Hedge Top ($78) are making me laugh. Betsy gave Fei’s Tandem Jump Blouse ($88) a go here and liked everything but the exposed zipper. Tiny’s Tribal Rhythm Tank ($98) is a darker version of their Dewy Meadow Tunic ($98, review here) that hopefully does not share the sheerness issues. Lest you forget that Odille is also the master of flattering blouses they introduce their simple yet elegant Ad Infinitum Blouse ($68).

The lineup for dresses so far seems to be bold, bold, bold. Moulinette Soeurs gives the wrap dress a try with their Blooming Sapphire Wrap Dress ($148). I gravitated towards Leifsdottir’s oddly-named Precious Stones Dress ($258, review here) which gives me the Alice in Wonderland-harlequin vibe. I remember seeing the Lotus Awakening Dress ($278) at Leifsdottir’s Spring 2010 presentation (SO exciting to see the items start to hit stores) while the Woven Chroma Dress ($278) is a zig-zag surprise. I tried on Moulinette Soeurs’ Akebia Dress ($168) yesterday and will have a review up later this week.

On the sweater front some pieces that have been in stores for awhile finally made it online. Front and center would be Charlotte Tarantola’s Field Game Cardigan ($118, review here) though I prefer the three more inches of material from the Bloomingdales version. Sparrow’s Blushing Bouquet Cardigan($88) got the guest review treatment. I love the rich tones of the Rain Pools Cardigan ($88), also by Sparrow and there’s just a hint of sparkle and sheen to Moth’s Shimmering Pin-Up Cardigan ($88).

We Love Vera’s Stars And Stripes Skirt ($88) invites you to do your patriotic duty a bit early and has Sousa marches floating through my head. Or perhaps you prefer the artistic renderings of Leifsdottir’s Simian Tableau Skirt ($188). Sweet dreams are made of Lilka’s Paint The Night Chemise ($58) which comes in two intriguing color palettes. And while I love the look of the Linear Loungers ($58) by So Low, the 33″ inseam is too short for my lounging needs.

I'm really loving Odille's Striped Pursuit Top, I'll most likely get it at some point :] I have nothing like that in my closet, did you try it on already?

hey roxy, nice roundup :-). i tried on the tribal tank the other day, it unfortunately does have sheerness issues (As well as fit issues for me, totally squashed my chest =/)

the tops and sweaters so far are gorgeous . . . hoping the dress and skirt selection might improve (although maybe better for my bank account if it does not!) thanks for the roundup!lesley

I am also hoping the dress selection improves, too. I'd really like Anthro to introduce a couple of easy to wear dresses that is work-appropriate. As much as I love the tees and embellishments, I'm hoping for some tailored blouses for work. Oh, and while we are here, can I complain about one of the skirts? I had my eye on the a skirt by Michael Starr, but it has been renamed the Playing Favorites Skirt. The shot for the model shows her wearing the former, not the latter. The new version of it has a slit across the front, which I do not like and I really wanted the former.Oh well. I hate it when Anthro does that. Please bring back the first version that I fell in love with. I hope my store gets in the first one as it's pretty much the only skirt I like right now.

I can't believe the Corolla top is already sold out online in the red/pink color. Hope they reorder. I'd love to see it IRL.I love the "alice in wornderland dress" and would love to be able to try it on. I have a wedding in May and would love to be able to wear this dress. Thanks for the roundup Roxy on some of the new stuff. Clearly, not plain or dull and something for everyone.P.S. I have to make a return for a friend of mine in the store today and alas, I am out of budget, so outside of using my gift card from Christmas, nothing will be coming home with me today. 🙁 I did snag some stuff during the last sale that I had been coveting (adjustment for Spring Medley sweater and also got the Chie Evergreen Heels which are fabulous and even more so at 50%).

I just tried to use my B-day discount by phone without any luck. I wanted the Soft and Slim Pants in the short length which is not carried in the stores. But, they told me it is for in store use only. Roxy, how did you get them to honor yours?!Tien-I agree with you about the dresses, but I am really missing the Odille skirt styles from 3-4 years ago. There was always a wide selection of these A-line, longer length skirts. I hope Anthro will bring them back!

Stephanie – I did! I will have a review of it this week. It's nice, but short.Ade – Ugh. I was afraid of that. If it gets the Dewy Meadow Top to sale faster though, well then that's OK. :)Lesley – I agree, I am waiting for fantastic skirts.Tien – I noticed that too about the skirt!!! And I am also wishing the former version would come back. I'm so glad you left this comment as I thought I was going crazy.Bronzi – my budget is just about up as well. That's OK, February will be here soon enough. They have the red/pink Corolla Tee at 5th Ave if you are desperate for it.Loraine – my honest advice? Keep calling back until you get someone who will help you.

Anon and Tien – I agree with you about the dresses and skirts! The only dresses that caught my eye this month were the Lime Juice Dress and the Sun Dots Dress (and the Sun Dots fit was horrible on me…). Some fun spring dresses that are work-appropriate would be wonderful!

I just love the spring collection. I love it so much that I have to stop going to Anthropologie. I have already purchased:-Suave shell-Ad infinitum blouse (fit is so great)-Bayeux top (so pretty)-Florid facade top (can be dressed up or down; very sheer and needs cami though)-Feathery tank (this is a great top but I tried three XS and two S and they all fit differently.)I usually buy and then return some after trying them on at home, but I am having a really hard time parting with any. I need to return two. Any thoughts? Also, how does everyone resist buying? My friend suggested that I first stop reading Anthro blogs. Ha ha.

Anon – ha! I actually agree with your friend, reading the blogs (and, ahem, writing one) makes me much more susceptible to buying. As far as returning items goes if I already own something similar then I find it easier to return. Otherwise I have a hard time taking things back too.

I am loving the Fei blouse. A. Lot! Thanks for sharing. Your editing skills are excellent-e.

Roxy: thanks about the tip about the red/pink Corolla Tee. I'm going to wait it out and hope it is still there or at my local Anthro when the budget is more favorable. In the meantime, I will just window/blog shop.

I examined Leifdottir's Simian Tableau skirt online and burst into giggles. It easily surpasses quirky and just nosedives into batty auntie territory.
