Guest post: Outfits by sweetarchivia

Please welcome guest blogger sweetarchivia, from the wonderful blog of the same name. For her guest post sweetarchivia has put together some outfits and even taken IRL shots. It’s pretty awesome. For fun, I decided to review recent items I actually bought and have restyled with various vintage Anthropologie items from seasons past. For size references, I am 5 ft 1, and usually wear a 0-2 at Anthro. In other words I’m representing the midget, ahem “petite,” population.

Oh, how some Anthro items can be so neglected! I am very surprised that many are bypassing the pretty silk-blend Tie-and-Tails Jacket in Wine (orig. $198, now $19.95) from the Mise-en-Scene joint collection with Ruffian. To prove that a Tuxedo jacket can be more versatile than you think, I’ve styled it two ways. I’m wearing the jacket in a 0 in all the photos as it was fairly true-to-size and I think it should be worn fitted for best effect.

1) Tuxedo Casual – I threw the jacket over my Eloise Petal Strewn Cami in black, paired with Daughters of the Liberation Deep Indigo Trouser. You could easily substitute any black camisole and jeans that you have in your closet.

2) Tuxedo Formal – This time I pulled the jacket over the Gathered Together Dress (now $60) from Maeve and tights from Tintoretta. I’m not sure of their exact Anthro names. But again, you can substitute your own little black dress and tights very easily.

I also love the boiled wool Cape Coat Cardigan (orig. $168, now $89.95). I’ve styled it with a Full Bouquet Clip ($18) in Coral. Note, the cardigan runs small and I’m wearing it in a Medium. It is misleadingly named “gold” despite it being an olive green colour. Check out the cute lining and the way it looks as a sweater coat with the cape removed (bottom right picture).

Below are all the style numbers of the items still available for sale, which you can provide to your friendly Anthro salesperson to track them down for you:
Tie-and-Tails Jacket in Wine Style #17138751
Full Bouquet Clip in Coral Style #943327
Cape Coat Cardigan in Gold Style#17103359
Gathered Together Dress in Black Style #933204

OT but I was at the new Chicago store opening event last night. It is a pretty store – spacious and has a nice hanging boat with bedding etc in the upstairs which is really cool. And for Chicago ladies – there is no Sz 0 in shell of that horizon line dress you all seem to want, there is the rust. There are just 4-5 styles of sale dresses in the sale room not including that one. There are many sale cardis and tops and some coats and jackets. They do have that new shirtdress by Odille that was featured in an email. I personally found it a bit cheap in the fabric – you can see the pockets through the skirt, for example. I thought the concept was nice but wouldn't pay $98 for it….ps the only odd thing – someone had the strange idea to put the hooks in the dressing rooms at hip level, which means dresses and coats will almost or will sweep the floor and gather dust – not ideal for new clothes…?

Oh wow. Now I want that Ruffian jacket. I already have the quilted velvet one even though it needs tailoring (too big). You look great in the tuxedo one. I'll have to see if I can find it. You look great in the outfits. Thanks for the post.
