Outfits: Enlightenment (warmth + glitz)

I am loving the layered outfit set Anthropologie has presented for December. The model they used is stunning too — I especially love her hair. I picked out a few of my favorite looks to dissect. You can see the complete set here.

This first outfit above intrigues me because I am both scared of and drawn to the Fargyle Skirt ($88). Since my hips are already pretty out there I feel like this could be super flattering. The shape reminds me of the jodhpurs women used to wear in the 1930s. Then again the bold print might be overpowering. It’s nice to see it in an outfit context that works (although on a model who is decidedly not hippy in any way).

Also in this outfit: Wrapped-In-Ruffles Cardigan ($128, review here), Dotted Chiffon Blouse ($98), Leaps And Bounds Belt ($34), Opaque Tights ($13), Trompe L’oeil Wingtips ($140).

Much as I love the flower pin accent here in NYC you can’t wear one on your lapel without Carrie Bradshaw comparisons. So I love that Anthropologie has thrown another option our way. On the belt? Brilliant. That’s the Full Bouquet Clip ($18) and yes it really is that huge in real life. I was surprised — it’s bigger than my fist. But oh so pretty. I love that this outfit is a fall/winter palette with a dressier touch. It has a streamlined chicness that is a bit outside Anthropologie’s norm. I like it.

Also in this outfit: Holmes Sweatercoat ($458), Dandelion Wish Dress ($188), Striped Tights ($18), Bas Relief Boots ($498)

This hip college professor outfit makes me want to make an exception to my blazer embargo. But the piece that really grabbed me is the expensive-but-cool Feathered Links Necklace ($305). I love how it almost looks like part of the blazer in this outfit. It’s long enough to sit around the cowl of the Here & Now Tee ($88, review here). There’s that whimsy I know Anthro for!

Also in this outfit: Schoolboy Blazer ($128), Montgolfier Skirt ($158), the very beautiful but extremely tearable Berry Bush Tights ($18), Brass Tacks Wedges ($138).

I guess you would get the SATC comparison in NY!! In my city you just get the 'who is the crazy lady with the big accessories'. hee heeSorry to be OT, but have you ever tried the Leifsdottir Paz Tee? I've never ordered anything from this brand so I don't know about sizing…I am worried that it runs small??

Morning PFP! I find Leifsdottir's tops run TTS. Their dresses fit snugly for me though and I usually size up.

Roxy, can you review that skirt if you happen to see it, I'm also curious about it. I love the new Anthro outfits. I'm scared of the skirt because I'm also curvy.

This is OT, but why are all the skinny jeans now called "leggings"? Isn't it bad enough they are skinny, can they be even skinnier? How big is my butt going to look when I slip into a pair? OK, rant over. Thanks for participating in my on going issues with my body.

Hi Roxy! I recently snagged the 'Bubbly Cardigan' in green and I'm not sure if I like it or not. Can you please give me some styling options? Thanks!

I really like the Merino + Petals look, but why is the Holmes Sweater $458?!!!!Doesn't that seem ridiculous? It's not cashmere, or cashmere blend. I don't see what about it justifies the price.I will never understand, I guess. Even the Hydrangea Flurry Vest is $228, and that's because it's cashmere/wool blend, and all those petals attached to it show workmanship.Sorry, I'll end my rant now.
