Reviews: Intimates

For obvious reasons, there are no IRL shots on this post. 🙂 You’re just going to have to take my word for it. For reference, I wear a 34D (well, really a 32DD but hardly anyone makes that size). If you’ll indulge me for a second I think it’s great to see Anthropologie start to carry some styles in a D cup…I think they could carry a lot more sizes though! I realize they’re not an intimates purveyor by trade but I would happily buy bras here if they made more in my size. Large chested ladies want pretty lingerie too!

And with that over with, on to the reviews. The first set I tried on was Anne Pinkerton’s Moonlit Laurel Bra ($28), Briefs ($18) and Boyshorts ($18). These are alphasized and as such only come in limited options. For the bra, the large’s cups were too small for me but could probably support a C cup. The jersey material is soft and the picot edging is really a sweet look. The straps have a lot of give which doesn’t help much with support. Both the briefs and the boyshorts are equally cute. The briefs had good coverage in my true size medium but I found the boyshorts a little lacking in bottom coverage from the back.

The Toujours Bra ($38) and Bikini ($34) are made of really soft cotton. Mais c’est pas moi. This option at least comes in proper A-C cup options. Once again I’m sized out and it’s only made worse by these fitting a cup size smaller than normal. The 36C was laughable on me. Make sure you order one size up. The bra straps get points for adjustability. Like the bra, the briefs ran small. To say the bikini was low cut would be an understatement. I could barely squeeze into the L/XL. Confidence booster? Not even close.

The Hayward Padded Bra ($38) and Briefs ($28) look really pretty. The gold satin piping mixed with lace is so very pretty. And yet here’s another set that only goes up to C cups. I know this style isn’t really for larger chests anyway because of the thinness of the straps. It’s too bad because the retro shaping is practically begging to come home with me. I tried the 36C but it wasn’t even close to holding me and the circumference of the strap was too long. The briefs fit fine in a medium (pretty hot actually!) but I am all about matched sets only. Sorry pretty little things, but you can’t come home with me.

The Jannis Cami ($52) and Briefs ($32) are not for the bashful. The briefs are see-through in the back and the cami leaves little up to the imagination. I love the look but even the large in the cami had to stretch too far on me. You know how tattoos sometimes stretch out and get warped? That’s about how the cami looked on me. I would have needed an XL at a minimum. Which is so strange to me since I’m a 6 in tops. The briefs were actually kind of roomy in the medium for me. But again it’s the whole set or nothing for me so it was nothing this time around.

I'm so sorry to hear that none of these worked! I'm also a 34D and i would KILL for some reasonable priced cute bras! I hate that I have to cough up $100 for something designer or wear some granny bra.

I have never considered Anthropologie for bras. I have bought Hanky Panky thongs there (which, IMO are the most comfortable thongs) . I used to be like you and only wore matching sets, then I had a baby and nursed. Not a lot of reasonably priced pretty/sexy nursing bras. Anyway, I am going to check the intimates section, the bras you posted are pretty and well priced (and I should have something in my drawer that is attractive, right?). Ahhh… sometimes I shouldn't check your blog. It just makes me want to buy Buy BUY!
