Email: The Smallest Bags, The Mightiest Coats

I have to say that Anthropologie is doing a really great job with the gift ideas this year. Their weekend email is a strange double feature of tiny purses and not-so-tiny…coats? Well, whatever. Lord knows I want both.

Anthro has a plethora of small clutches and chain purses, many reasonably priced and perfect gifts for friends, nieces and other wonderful people in your life. Most of them come in multiple colors and variations; you can see the full selection here. I love the Chinoiserie Clutch, River ($78, above far left). The tapestry kind of reminds me of “The Oregon Trail” computer game that every 80s child played in school. I saw it in real life today and the carryall is every bit as vibrant and unique in real life. But perhaps something fancier is on your radar, like the Iced Rosettes Clutch ($298, above second from left). This budget buster has glamour written all over it and I can’t get over the way the crushed leather looks like petals. I hope to see this one in real life soon.

Continuing right in the photo above brings us to the Topsy-Turvy Wallet ($148). The owls on the front are so very cute and this wallet looks pretty functional inside with a windowed ID slot and credit card slots. Sometimes these wallets tend to be undersized on the inside but I have not seen this one in-store yet to check. The last clutch is the Flowered Critter Coin Purse, Fish ($18). It’s very cool how the zipper is the mouth of the fish. There are plenty of other animals to choose from — birds, horses and more. And each comes in multiple colors.

Over on the coat side there are equally beautiful options to choose from. The email featured the Greybar Coat ($228) by Tabitha. I like the houndstooth but prefer the shorter version of the Checkered, Please Jacket ($178, review here). Above are four selections I am impatiently waiting to see in-store: the wallet-killing Leading Lady Trench ($498) is part of Anthropologie’s collaboration with Eley Kishimoto (read more about the collaboration here); beautiful roses adorn the neckline of the Freshly Fallen Coat ($268); I can’t say no to the purple in Liquid’s Study-In-Contrasts Coat ($268) and I love the ruffly woodsy vibe of Tracy Reese’s Birling Ruffle Coat ($288). I have previously done reviews of several coats, including in this post and this one too. If you’re looking for a specific coat review just type the product name in the “Search Posts & Comments” field in the sidebar.

There’ll be some reviews coming up later this afternoon, plus a preview of the week ahead. Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday!

Roxy: off topic, but I actually found a pair of skinny jeans that fit at Anthro, the AG Stevie skinnies. WOW since I just tried them on for a goof and was surprised that they indeed fit my calves and thighs and I just went up one size to a 29. Woo hoo. Since you provided some suggestions regarding skinnies and liked the AG Stilt ones, thought I would let you know.Love your blog. Mentioned how great it was when I was speaking with a manager there today, anyway, long story of how your blog came up. She said that she mentioned it to one of her merchandise managers to check it out. Don't know what that means, but perhaps something good will happen.

I am still impatiently waiting to see the Freshly Fallen coat, so gorgeous!! And I maaaay have just bought the Birling Ruffle coat, I couldn't wait any longer, it's so freaking cute and it is getting chilly around here! There are about 50 on eBay going for about half price right now if anyone is interested (but be warned all seem to be overstock/have slight flaws since they're shipping from Asia…I don't think they're fakes though.)

Funny how that works, right? Like I may have bought the Still Life Blouse because the sizes started selling out? 😉 May I request a post on your blog for the Birling Ruffle Coat? Dying to see it on someone.
