Highlighting some of the talented community

While I occasionally take on home sewing and crafting projects, it’s nothing compared to the talent populating this blog’s community. This post is dedicated to some of the projects that have caught my eye. If you’re a follower of this blog and have wares of your own, I’d love to feature them in a future post. Please contact me via email.

Joanna, aka Farmer Jo, constructs beautiful small felt flowers affixed to a rubber band. She can also affix the flowers to a pin to make a brooch that can be worn as brooches, pins, or adornments. I myself have three which I usually affix to a belt. Peeps always ask where I got the belt! Now she has started making her winter collection. This year I’ve seen tons of hats (especially cloques) and cardigans with similar flowers attached for much more. Joanna has begun making her own designs, such as the hat you see at the top of this post. Visit Joanna’s site and see her pretty cloque hat creations.

Shannon, of Wardrobe Review fame, was hiding some serious jewelry-making talent in her petite frame! Months ago she opened an Etsy shop and she’s since launched a small website devoted to her amazing creations. I have long admired her talents not only in replicating current styles but also in designing organically. My current favorite is her Smoky Onyx cluster bracelet you see above. It’s high on my wish list. And her picture taking skills? Fab.

Another talented jeweler is GingerSnap, she of GingerSnap’s Daily Fashion Post. For awhile I noticed some stunning necklaces included in her outfits of the day, and I guess must have as well because she eventually revealed that they were her own work! GingerSnap has an Etsy shop with a few of her designs, including the one in the photo above. She also made a gorgeous seashell mirror, which I’d love to see for sale some time (hint, hint).

Sometimes I learn about stunning creations through the grapevine. A few months ago the lovely Gigi of Gigi’s Gone Shopping ran a post that featured the work of LindseyB (scroll down to the bottom of the post). Lindsey runs an Etsy shop populated by multiple large, beautiful flower designs. The photo above is my favorite flower, and below is the flower adorning a real outfit.

Amazing work all around, ladies!

Hey Roxy!Have you seen the falling ribbon cardi? Does it itch? :)Also, was the bubbling up sweater at all itch? I have pretty sensitive skin and wanted your opinion before ordering. Thank you so much!

Neither is itchy. The buttons on the Falling Ribbon Cardi were VERY hard to unbutton though. I'll have a review of it running on Monday. 🙂

Just out of curiosity, do you go to the store everyday to review items or do you just spend a long time in the store trying on clothes? Just wondering because you do an amazing job reviewing most of the items available. BTW, I love your blog and webpage especially the search feature. I used it the other day to see if you had reviewed the Inky Quill dress.

Those cloches are beautiful. I'm looking for one, but have yet to decide on a color. Thanks for the post. Farmer Jo's prices are very reasonable.

Diem, not every day. What I usually do is try to hit all 3 NYC Anthros every other weekend. I try on 10-15 items at each and then combine them into posts in a way that makes sense. Sometimes though I can't find that many new items. Lately I've been trying to try on outfits. It's hard because my size is often missing. Items move very quickly here.If I have a lot of requests I'll bunch them. Also, the Soho Anthro is just a couple of blocks from work so I'm there quite a bit. Honestly it's so much like second nature at this point that I'm probably there more and don't even realize it. 🙂 Thank you for the compliment! adiaphane, ITA that Jo's prices are fair, and she ships fast too!

I know what you mean. I was there three times this week too. I went to return something, but instead of getting my money back I ended up getting something else. I don't think I ever make it out of there with my money back or not buying something. I think I am addicted!

beautiful acorn bracelet! roxy, have you seen a necklace in store – it is a long, gold chain with a dried flower-filled glass ball? it's like $188, i think. i've seen it in my anthro, but never online … was wondering what it was called, and if it will ever go on sale. 🙁
