Email: Hourglass shape included

I’m glad I don’t live in the era of actual corsets. I am however loving the corset-inspired shapes Anthropologie is churning out. Today’s email points to the corset collection which they helpfully point out helps create an hourglass shape. Featured is of course the Monochromatic Corset Dress ($188). It’s at the top of my wish list for October for sure. I saw it styled in store with what I believe were the Washed Leather Racer ($248) and the Autumn’s Bounty Bib ($80). It was a tough yet romantic look that I love, love, love.

Over on the more strictly romantic side I am quite excited to try on the Addy Dress ($148). Make sure you zoom in on the bodice — there are little flowers all over it! So adorable. Almost a bit more springy than fall-appropriate.

Also corset-inspired and on my radar is Tracy Reese’s Centifolia Corset Dress ($188) with its mix of blue and orange. The shoulders on this frock are a bit tricky and I wonder if they will add width to me. Hopefully though it will look fun, playful and streamlined on.

The fall line has me drifting back to 2007 and an outfit I regret not buying in the waning months of the year…

It’s the Pretty Peplum Coat and the Stargrass Dress. Oh how I wanted both yet I never purchased either. One of my regrets. That along with the Neatik Peacoat (photo below) make looking through the December 2007 catalogue a joy and a curse. Thanks to Natalie for linking to all the old catalogues on Anthro’s site!

Hi Roxy,First time poster here! I love your site! The closest anthro to me is 2 hours away, so I do all of my ordering on line. It is so awesome to see you try things on and read your observations…they are spot on! Thank you so much!Last year I hemmed and hawed over the price of the cakemakers dream pink wool cardigan. I thought it would go on sale and it never did! Do you remember that one?

Hi BeachyK, I don't remember that particular cardi but I do remember watching several last fall like you that never went on sale or sold out. The only one I ended up with was the Armana Jasmine Cardigan. It's tricky to be sure.
