email: anthro in our own words

Hooray for anthro: in our own words! I always look forward to this email. This month the team focuses on Hatch Show Print, the legendary Nashville print shop responsible for countless concert posters (including three hanging up in my apartment!) as well as some general entertainment works. They say print is a dying art but I believe that specialty shops will always have their place, much like the artists supported by patrons during the Renaissance. I haven’t talked about this partnership as much as I’d like because I am so friggin’ jealous! Damn you Anthropologie, I want a Hatch Show Print work with MY name on it.

After the existential symbiosis breakdown (Rock Star printers: they’re just like us!), anthro buries this little nugget: they’re selling 300 limited-edition lithos of the June catalogue cover. Super cool. A new addition to my poster collection perhaps?

One thing I wish Anthro would address is the sudden change in brand direction. Because let’s be honest, like Breakfast at Anthropologie did, I’m sure many of us mistook this for an Urban Outfitters catalog. And without taking away from the cool styling of the booklet; none of the clothing really said “rock music” to me. More worrisome is that not all of the clothing said “Anthropologie” to me either. I realize the brand’s got to evolve to stay relevant. But I hope they don’t get too far away from what makes them great. Draw another similarity from Hatch Show Print, m’dears: unique makes you endlessly hip. Otherwise you’re just Times New Roman.

Sorry about the earlier comment deletion…I had a link error.Your last paragraph is right on point. In fact, I just wrote a blog post about my sadness of Antro's design change. My thoughts can be found hereI also found some info about Anthro decreasing catalog circulation. Maybe this is why myself and others can't seem to get on or even stay on their mailing list!
