Items you loved, items you missed

Inspired by some of the Trade Market postings, I thought it would be fun to share some of our all-time favorite buys and some of our “I can’t believe I let that one go!” Anthro items. For me, there are oh-so-many items I wish I could have bought. Most of the time I either didn’t realize how great the item was until it was too late; I lacked fundage or I just completely spaced on an item.

Probably the item I pine for the most is the Fair Lady Jacket (pic at the top of the post). It’s from 2005 or 2006. At that time I was working two full-time jobs to help pay down my college loans and get established. I barely had time to sleep, nevermind shop. So I missed out on it. Looking at the jacket now it’s kind of funny to see all the ruffles that are so hot right now. I also realized I’ve bought a couple of similar jackets since trying to replace it.

Another item I’m always scouring eBay for are the Linnaeus Booties. The buttons kill me. (In a good way.) Hysterically my blog ancestor Craving Anthropologie hated them. I have a ton of respect for Ms. CA so I will just say I kindly disagree. I heart these. I heart them so much I ♥ them. I have about 20 more items I can think of but you get the idea.

As for my favorite buy, it’s probably the top above from Lithe (poached from an active eBay auction if you’re interested!). Absolutely postively adore this top. It’s so very rock n’roll. The auction said the seller purchased it last year but I’m pretty sure that’s wrong-o because I am almost 100% sure bought this top in either 2006 or 2007 and used it for some band press shots. I will see if I can dig the photos out to confirm. Not that it really matters…the point is that this shirt makes me happy every time I wear it.

So how about you, dear reader? What Anthro item has a forever home in your closet? Which item has a spot reserved should you come across it again?

What a fun idea! Where do you find all these pictures? Are they archived somewhere? I always like to hunt the hot items of the season. Some of my favorites are sweaters with unique details such as the Sleeping on Snow's Wildflower cardigan, Slyvan Scene yellow cardigan, Armana Jasmine, and my favorite is a Knitted and Knotted tanish short-sleeved turtleneck with embroidered big orange flowers around the neckline. I paid a ton for it-on sale and I don't regret it for a minute. I think I have had it for three years and wear it 2 or 3 times a winter. I get so many compliments on it. You sure don't get the same compliments from a tired JCrew cardigan:).

Endless Google searches. I clearly have way too much time on my hands. 🙂

Last fall I had a turning point style-wise. Two of my favorite items are things I purchased last fall: the Buckle and Sway skirt and the Dazzling Dots skirt. I had never even tried on a sweater skirt before but I fell for both of these. Then I foolishly returned another sweater skirt (pencil, black with roses, two front pockets, by Moth) and now I am scouring ebay for it. I was also successful in picking up the Fulmar Birds skirt on ebay not too long ago, NWT for about 1/4 the original price. As for older items, I have a LIthe skirt that has animals embroidered all the way around the bottom (I think it was called the Noah's Ark skirt?), an Odille skirt with giant lemons, another LIthe skirt with grem embroidered designs all over it. Which leads me to say… I have not seen LIthe for sale lately.I had at one point several items from many years ago. I wore them out. My return regret includes the following: the Moth skirt I mention above, and a black (Odille?) skirt that was a simple a-line with a branch and bird embroidered on it, circa January 2008.If I did not have to get my toddler to bed now I am sure I could think of much more!

I can picture it like it was yesterday… there was this grey (possibly beige?) cardigan with buttons of all different shapes and sizes. It was beautiful. It was also expensive and I was an undergraduate, so I didn't buy it.It's now at least 5 years later and I'm still thinking about it… but unfortunately, I have no idea who made it or what it was called, so Ebay searching has been futile.

I foolishly returned the Jam Jar Cashmere cardigan by Twig from last winter. Now it's all I can think about. I blame pregnancy hormones. I just hope it turns up on eBay.Le sigh.

i adored that taikhonu (can never spell it write) cotton jacket with birds, i think they said vultures but that is so unpleasant to contemplate. it was blue with yellow and prominently featured in a container store ad for redoing your closet!

It's funny, but my twin sister and I were discussing this during our last big shopping trip together- the neat thing about Anthropologie is that their pieces are pretty darn timeless. I have items from Anthro that I've worn for years that never look outdated or "old", you know? I'm not sure if it's the uniqueness or the fact that what they pick is a bit ahead of its time, but so many things from there can be worn for so long without looking outdated or icky. For me, it was the <a href="http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=-6933325497696973306&id=920010&parentid=SALE_FRESH&pushId=SALE_FRESH&prepushId=SALE_FRESH&popId=SALE&sortProperties=&navCount=118&navAction=poppush&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=nem&colorName=NEUTRAL+MOTIF" rel="nofollow">Deller Element Jumper this year by Sunner. I'm stalking it, hoping by some odd chance it will come back in my size. 🙁

I have too many lost loves to count 🙂 The one I remember first was this red-and-white round bag with leather accents that was from Spring 2006. I thought the $200-300 they were asking for it was insane (and it totally was), but I never quite forgot it.For a beloved older season buy I adore, I have this incredible long, gradated tiered lace Snak skirt (god, anything by the Snak label was great, why did they discontinue it) that is simply amazing, although I don't pull it out too often. I forgot to take an outfit picture the last time I did, but I'll make sure to next time.Your items are gorgeous! I wish you luck in finding them 🙂 (I too remember that Craving Anthropologie post about the booties…I disagreed and thought they were great too 😉 )

i regret not buying things for a little while after it's gone but then the feeling usually fades….my favorite thing i've gotten is a red & white striped seersucker skirt from spring 2008. i don't particularly care for red and so i ruminated for a while on whether to get it or not. i'm so glad i did! i also really like the cardigan with music notes from last fall and a black and cream woven tank with butterflies on it that i got last spring/summer.

Where to begin? There have been many pairs of shoes that I've missed out on because they tend to be very expensive and sell out before they go on sale (there must be a lot of anthro shoppers who wear a size six). Most recently I've missed out on the Checkered Pas Wedges and the Chignon Heels. And I still search for the Gilded Catkins Shift Dress by Floreat, but I have yet to find it in my size.

^ @ Margaret: I'm not sure if this is the same jacket, but I just came across a 'Cirikli' Taikonhu jacket with birds on ebay in a Size 4 & Size 12. Not sure if it's the right jacket or sizes, but just thought I'd add them, since I remembered your post. Hope it helps.
