In honor of Mother’s Day, I must announce that I am totally turning into my Mom. As a kid I remember her wearing these huge ridiculous hats to the beach and me endlessly making fun of her. And then today I get this hats email from Anthropologie and I think, “awesome…I totally want like 5 of these!”
Dunescape Hat ($42)
I love the sun you see. But years of horseback riding in the New England sun followed by college in Colorado hasn’t really been kind to me even at my tender age. My nose is permanently red — Rudolph style. And while I used to lightly burn and then tan deeply now I just burn and peel. Were I time traveling like the Lost folks and if I told Richard Alpert to tell my time-traveling past self anything, it would be “tell Roxy to wear %@!&*)# sunscreen!”
Anacapri Hat ($42)So it’s hats in the sun pretty much all the time for me now. And I kinda dig it. Especially since big floppy hats are hip this year. Anthro has so many cute hats but I haven’t really seen any in-store. Is there such a thing as too big and floppy? I won’t know til I try them on.
So in the meantime I settled for the Accoutrements Cap ($48) above. It’s really cute on. The brim is slightly bigger than a baseball cap but not to the point of becoming ridiculous. This will be perfect for lounging on the beach in Florida next week.
