Bathing suits, cute outfits and more in-store

Made it to the store today to try on the Lake Ripples One-Piece ($168) which I had high hopes for. I have been trying to be good (really!); I even bought some stuff to return with me (the Garland Necklace ($38) and Dew Drop Earrings ($24) both of which are pretty but just were not doing it for me).

Instead of course I was immediately sidetracked by the new stuff. Like the Mythical Phoenix Top ($78) by Deletta. Stunning. Grabbed it to try on. I was also distracted by the shoe section. I tried on the Clouded Apollo Heels ($128) in brown. Slingbacks are not my favorite but modified t-straps helped keep the sandal in place. My normal size 9 fit fine and I was able to comfortably walk around the shoe area. But I wasn’t planning on a shoe splurge so I sadly handed them back to the attendant and headed for the fitting room before anything else could catch my eye.

And then of course while waiting to get in the fitting room there was a mannequin styled with the outfit you see above. It looked so unbelievably amazing! The Sun Goddess Tank ($68) was tucked into the Calm Seas Skirt ($198) while the cardigan — which I think was the Journeying Cardigan ($98) but I could be wrong Sugared Mango Cardigan ($128) — was open. Summer chic done so well. The stylist had added Garnish Necklace ($178) some really cute necklace that is not yet on the website and the Sedge & Heather Heels ($378) to finish off the look. My jaw just dropped at how great the outlook looked. Major Kudos to the Rockefeller Plaza staff for that one! It’s a good thing that outfit wasn’t on a live person because I would have burned a hole I was staring so hard. Yup, yup, yup I said mentally at each element. Want, want, want.

(Roxy note 5/8: sorry about all the deletions…thanks Anon @ 7:17 for catching the sweater error, and I realized today that I’d also misidentified the necklace. D’oh!)

Finally in the fitting room, I tried on the swimsuit. I’d grabbed both violet and grey. I was more vested in the grey but they didn’t have my size 8 or a 10 so I grabbed a 6 and hoped for the best. No go. I got it on but it was too stretched out…not cute. So off it came and I switched the violet in an 8. The body of the suit fit OK. Unfortunately while the suit was beautiful it was just not for me. The straps under the bust line provided some support but not nearly enough. To keep my chest where it belonged I would have had to tie the strap so tight around my neck that it would have been uncomfortable. There was no underwire support (there are soft cups though). It was hopeless. So the gorgeous swimsuit went on the no rack. Boo.

I had slightly better luck with the Mythical Phoenix Top (above). Normally I am a small in Deletta tops. But the small in this top left the waist accents right under my chest and that looked a bit weird. The medium was much better. The waist detail sat right on top of my hips as it should. It was really, really flattering. My hourglass shape was on display. I actually strolled out to check myself out in the 3-way mirror and someone’s hubby waiting on the bench gave me the thumbs up. Ha! Back in my dressing room I inspected the top a bit more closely and noticed that the bead detailing, while well-sewn, didn’t always entirely hold its teardrop shape. It wasn’t enough to deter me. I decided to wait to buy it though. I left empty-handed but with plenty of additions for the wish list.

It's not a bad thing to not buy, then you have something to go and visit! Sorry if you already know this, but it's free shipping on all phone orders until September 7. I'm particularly happy since my closest Anthro is an hour away!

Alex, there is a shot of the trampoline skirt in this catalogue if that helps at all! (Flip to pages 8-9.) I haven't tried this item on…not sure if I missed it in-store.
