The list of wedding to-dos can quickly feel overwhelming. (More on that in the next post!) That’s why I tackled easy tasks like our Save the Date early! I was able to start the process before we even had our venue picked or our date set, and then finish them quickly once the details were in place. How? Basic Invite.

There are plenty of places you can go to create your Save the Dates. For us, Basic Invite quickly stood out above the field. Firstly, their website is designed well and very easy to navigate. This may sound like a small detail but it matters! I’ve designed cards and event magnets for years and Basic Invite is bar far the easiest to use. It’s simple and straightforward even for someone who is not web-savvy. There’s a lot of drag-and-drop ease of design, and the site allows you to save your progress once you’ve created an account.

As the creative director of this relationship, I did a lot of the heavy lifting in designing our Save the Dates with Basic Invite and then emailing or texting Alex links for his approval. Basic Invite links and shares worked flawlessly every time. I’ve used many design sites for events and Basic Invite has been by far the easiest for creating, sharing and printing quality cards…and magnets.

Yes, that’s right, magnets! The second thing I love about Basic Invite is that they offered not only Save the Date cards but Save the Date magnets too. This is such a brilliant idea because we all know how easy it is to lose event the most beautiful, fridge-ready invitation cards. We’ve gotten compliments on top of compliments about our magnetic Save the Dates with Basic Invite. And no one has forgotten our wedding date! How can you when the magnet is right there on your fridge greeting you each morning and catching the sun with its beautiful foil details?

Save the Date magnets — a daily reminder of the fun to come!
I love the way our Save the Dates with Basic Invite turned out.

And that brings me to the third thing I loved about creating my Save the Dates with Basic Invite — the details. They have many beautiful fonts, designs, color schemes and foils to chose from. This helped me to perfectly personalize our Save the Date magnet design. The magnet reflects our personality as a couple as well as hinting towards our wedding color scheme. I adore the way the rose gold foil on our Save the Date magnet catches the sun. Each morning I smile when I open the fridge for my coffee’s dose of milk!

Next, the fourth thing I love about our Save the Dates with Basic Invite is the quality. I have several girlfriends who are getting married this year or next year. One of our group who is getting married next year asked to compare four of our Save the Dates, all created around the same time but with four different companies. Not only were the Basic Invite magnets the best color and printing quality, the magnets also had enough heft to them to stay securely on the fridge! (Yes, believe it or not a friend’s magnet keeps sliding off our fridge because the magnet isn’t strong enough.)

Finally, the fifth thing I love about my magnetic Save the Dates with Basic Invite is the value. At one these wedding stationery websites were something of a novelty. However now the field is quite packed and as a bride-to-be it’s hard to know which sites truly deliver on what they promise. I personally recommend Basic Invite highly! Alex and I are beyond delighted with how beautifully our magnet turned out. We received exceptional envelopes to mail the magnets out to our guests.

In fact after receiving our cards several friends had me help set them up on Basic Invite to do cards and magnets for their own events — and not just weddings. A friend of my future in-laws used Basic Invite to create a milestone birthday Save the Date card, while a friend of mine created a beautiful birth announcement on Basic Invite for her new daughter.

If you like one-stop shopping you should know that beyond Save the Dates with Basic Invite, the site also offers wedding invitations, thank you cards, and even free wedding websites! And that’s just scratching the surface of their offerings.

We knew from the start that we wanted to use a photo on our Save the Dates with Basic Invite. But if you’d prefer an illustrated or more traditional Save the Date, Basic Invite has many of those too. I love this skyline design for example (many cities are available!), this classic crest and this beautiful floral design. You can also mix art and photography like this geometric design and this beachy option.

I’ll share some of our complete design field that we narrowed down to our ultimate choice below.

Love this post (the save the date one) but love to see your thoughts on Nordstrom sale. I did not get a catalogue so will need to look at the site today. I really don't need anything but always can use something (and my grown children do their back to college or fall shopping). I also start a bit of Christmas shopping at this sale. i honestly have no idea this year what I will like or not without the catalogue which is sad.

I wish I had realized the magnet was an option when I sent out my invitations from Basic Invite. I just did a classic card – and loved how it turned out – but the magnet is super creative. I was just suggesting Basic Invite to a recently engaged friend of mine last night. I loved the invitations for my wedding so much, I got my New Year cards there too, and will probably do Christmas cards from them this year!
