J. Crew has been through a lot of strife recently, what with firing their CEO who had only been in the role 18 months and seemed to be doing a fantastic job turning their fortunes around and all. However beyond that drama there are still many good things happening behind the scenes. J. Crew hired Johanna Uurasjarvi to take over as head women’s designer!
If you don’t know Ms. Uurasjarvi, she was formerly at Anthropologie and created the beautiful Leifsdottir line that I still stalk on Poshmark. (Search this blog for Leifsdottir if you’re curious.) After leaving Anthropologie she went on to work at West Elm, where she upped the design factor into chic new levels. Now at J. Crew her presence is just starting to be felt and I see her hand in some of the prettiest new designs. She seems to be really good at marrying J. Crew’s preppy history with her delicate feminine detail leanings!
J. Crew’s 2018 Holiday Collection is a delight. I’m back in love with them!! I’ve gotten a few cute key pieces, like the Funnelneck shirt in Black Watch tartan with jeweled buttons (now $45) and the Harper satchel in Italian leather (now $164) you see on me. The shirt is the perfect tartan and the jewel accents on the shoulder are a very feminine way to do an otherwise militaryesque accent. And the bag. OH THIS BAG. So buttery. So functional. So in love! I also recently bought and love the Sequin midi skirt with tie (Now $114).
During today’s promo I plan to do some shopping and if I’m being honest it will all be for me, as I’ve already completed all my J. Crew gift shopping. I love my Harper Satchel so much that I think I’ll pick up the smaller size to give it a try today. The Harper mini satchel in Italian leather (now $85) comes in 6 pretty colors (and a pink python print!). I plan to order the midnight navy color.
I’m also all about buying the Collection pleated midi dress in gold lamé (now $149)! I think this will be great for a holiday party I’m attending that requires sparkle at a cocktail attire level. And I’m totally placing my order for it now because Collection items are not usually included in these promos and I think it could be a glitch that the 50% off MONDAY code is working on it right now.

This really is a good promo! I've also fallen back in love with J.Crew. I have the jeweled button top too but in the red tartan plaid. It's so lovely and Christmasy. I wore it for our family photos! Got my sister some of their soft pjs and bought my brother a great layering top. You've got me looking at the Harper Satchel now. The larger size isn't big enough for a laptop is it?

It is not big enough for a laptop. A mini iPad will for sure fit. It's somewhere between a crossbody and a briefcase-sized bag.

I hear you, I love my blue sequin skirt so much and wish I'd gotten it in another color, alas, my shopping money has gone elsewhere and now it's all sold out anyway. Maybe we'll be lucky and they'll be back and on sale after the holidays!
Almost everything I was interested has sold out. Boo. But I did manage to grab a couple of sweaters and I got the mini harper satchel too. We'll be bag twins.

So I went to J. Crew on Saturday for some Christmas shopping with my mother, but I was specifically on the hunt for that top in the Stewart Tartan! Of course, that had had one in my size but I was an hour too late. The very kind SA did track one down for me, so I'm really excited about that. To my delight, I purchased the most beautiful olive green sweater (Popcorn cable-knit sweater that you posted above in your picks) as well as the fun popover in rainbow clip dot chiffon. We did do some actual Christmas shopping too for my dad, my husband, and one of my nieces. I was impressed!

I think true to size is pretty accurate! I have been buying small in shirts, but I purchased the sweater in medium to have room for layering. It’s a great sweater. I ended up ordering one yesterday at 50% off for my mom for Christmas, as she was admiring the green as well (but they were sold out of her size in store).
I made this comment on the last post but thought I'd post it here too so more people would see it and be warned:
Just a head's up, do NOT place an order with Modcloth – they're still backed up from their Black Friday sale back in November!! I'm still waiting on my shipping notification from an order I placed on 12/4 and have seen DOZENS of comments on their FB and Instagram about upset customers and Modcloth is just blowing us off. It almost sounds like it's a joke….seriously, go read all the comments. Today I finally got a crappy form letter apology and a measly 10% off coupon for my NEXT order (uh, no thanks – don't want to risk it), but still no tracking info or shipping confirmation. Buyer beware! You DEFINITELY won't get your stuff in time for the holidays…probably not even New Year's either. 🙁

I replied to you on the previous post, but I'll say again here that Wow, I really don't know what to say. I wish I could make it better and it seems like Modcloth was perhaps caught by surprise by how successful their holiday collection has been!
Yeah their shipping is normally really delayed (even once my orders ship it still takes 1.5-2 weeks to reach me, which is also crazy long) but I keep reading comments from Modcloth that they can't even tell people WHERE their orders are or when they'll even be shipping out. What is that?? I only ordered outfits for events which is a pain because now I'll have to spend my free time that I don't have searching for suitable replacements, but I feel SO bad for people that ordered gifts!
Honestly I was holding out hope for a miraculous delivery thinking that maybe their system wasn't updating shipping/tracking info for some reason. I wasn't even THAT mad until I got their form letter apology and crappy discount coupon today. I can't even cancel my orders because the Chat keeps hanging up on me and they haven't responded to my email inquiries.
It's also super frustrating that they have been advertising new sales literally EVERY DAY but can't even keep up with a sale that they ran 3 weeks ago. Ugggghhhh.

That is a super bummer to be sure!
Twice now this year I ordered things from JCrew and was told a future shipping date….which went by….no one in CS could tell me why they weren't shipped….two weeks later, got a cancellation. If it's sold out, don't have it on the website or promise it to multiple people and send it to one. CS said they couldn't find it in a store. Frustrated. Sorry, had to vent. I'll stick to the B&M.

I purchased a couple of things including the funnel neck top (in the same plaid you have it). Also bit and purchased two spring/summer dresses with the anthro 30% off (who knows if I will keep them but I wanted to try them). Now I am done!
