The Anthropologie December Anthro weekend and other promos to shop this weekend :: Effortlessly with Roxy
Warm up with this dress this holiday season.

If you love happy shopping surprises than this is the shopping weekend for you! This is the last weekend to order items and have them arrive in time for Christmas (hopefully, that is, as some retailers are already struggling to process the holiday order load!). As such many retailers are offering tremendous deals this weekend to entice us to make those last holiday purchases before two-day or overnight shipping becomes an additional required expense.

The highlight promotion for me has to the Anthropologie December Anthro weekend! This weekend you can take 30% off your entire Anthropologie purchase. No code required; discount applies at checkout. You also receive Free Shipping at $50 which is lower than the usual $150 threshold (furniture shipping is still extra though). Anthropologie has been doing promos throughout the holiday season but they haven’t been very competitive with the deep discounts many other retailers are offering. This promo is finally more in line with what other stores are doing and I’m going to take advantage of that!

I’m also pleased to say that Anthropologie’s 2018 Holiday Collection is lovely. There is a fantastic mix of the classic Anthropologie appeal and modern cuts. They’ve toned down the ridiculous bell sleeves, crop top and rectangles immensely and upped the a-line, universally flattering appeal. I’m not ready to declare Anthropologie back yet as we’ve seen excellent collections followed up by whiffs several times over the last 5-7 years, but I am happy to declare their current assortment a winner!

I’ve made a bunch of purchases I’m happy with this season. For myself I’ve gotten the Alpine Sweater (now $139, TTS, on me here), the Ludington Waffle Pullover (now $55, I went for a large for a really oversized feel, on me here and here) and the Countess Dress (now $139, recommend going up two sizes, also available here) most recently.

Shop: this dress.

My renewed excitement with Anthropologie starts in the dress section, where items like the Sleeveless Buttondown Dress (now $104, above) hold massive appeal. Anthro still has some quality issues that need immediate attention to not scare people off again — the Rumie Velvet Dress (now $181) for instance is stunning but as several reviewers report I can confirm the neckline is unwearably tight. And there’s no spare fabric to easily extend the neck opening, so this is something a tailor would need to help fix.

But let’s stick to the winners for today. The Alarie Ruffled Dress (now $159) is long with beautiful detailed sleeves. (Fits TTS.) The Sporty Chevron Dress (now $118) has a funny name yet is ideal on anyone with an hourglass or pear figure. (I sized up to a 10 from my usual 8). I am in love with the mixed leopard version of the Juno Printed Dress (now $91). I think the Kaleidoscope Sweater Dress (now $111) looks like a rug in the best way possible! It felt so fun in the dressing room; I lean towards the black version over the grey.

And if you haven’t purchased the Byron Lars Carissima Sheath Dress (now $181) yet, be advised there is a new incredible burgundy colorway. This new shade hasn’t hit the website as of today but I did see it in the Rockefeller Center Anthropologie. Size up in this dress. I have more dress suggestions to peruse in the shoppable boutique that concludes this post.

There are lots of additional gorgeous clothing and accessory items from the Anthropologie December Anthro weekend in my shoppable boutique concluding this post. You can also get further deep dives into Anthropologie in this post, this one and this one too!

But here in the text I want to skip from clothing over to beauty. I’ve been quite stubborn about wishing Anthropologie got rid of the beauty section in-store and devoted it back to clothing and accessories, especially shoes and jewelry! My opinion hasn’t changed, however I do not mind having beauty in-store during the holiday season. It’s the one time of year I’ll drift over to that part of the store.

The Rockefeller Center Anthropologie in particular has an incredible beauty installation that I highly recommend checking out if you’re visiting the Tree or the area. And yes locals, although the foot traffic in the area is nuts right now I’d advise you to visit this store to see the beauty section too! (You can just stick to the underground entrance off the B/D/F/M.)

Anthropologie carries two beauty brands that I love and use often — Herbivore Botanicals and French Girl Organics. Not only do these brands’ items work and add to my wellness, they also come in pretty packaging that makes them delightful to gift or display in the bathroom! You don’t see these brands on discount very often so this promotion is a fine time to give them a try.

Some of my favorites to gift and get from Herbivore includes the Coconut Milk Bath Soak (now $23, heavenly), the Coco Rose Coconut Oil Body Polish (now $26 and also part of this gift set, hint hint!), the Sea Mist Coconut + Sea Salt Beach Wave Hair Mist (now $14) and the Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist (now $12, also in a larger size).

From French Girl Organics, some of my favorites are the Body Silk (now $20), the Rose Lip Polish (now $13, so good for Winter), the Rose Sea Soak (now $16) and the Lumiere Bronze Body Oil (now $35). Strangely Anthro doesn’t carry my absolute favorite French Girl Organics item, the Charcoal Cleansing Wash but you can get it here. I also recommend checking out Lano and Salt for their pretty and useful products that make great gifts and display items.

There are other ideal beauty gift items at Anthropologie too — these shower bombs are a great gift idea for new moms or schedule-packed people that don’t have time to luxuriate in a bath but want that effervescent aroma fresh feeling. If you’re not sure about your friends’ beauty proclivities I have another idea. This year a few friends of mine are getting this Slip Silk Beauty Sleep Travel Set (now $84). The Slip Pillowcase is also discounted during the  Anthropologie December Anthro weekend!

More beauty gift ideas below — all prices are before the 30% off discount is applied.

My most recent acquisitions are these High-Waisted Jegging Crops (on me here) and these Ne(x)t Level High-Waisted Jeggings (on me here). OOTDs with both coming up; I took a 12 tall in both of them. I recently also grabbed a bunch of sweaters at AE including this striped delight (OOTD upcoming), this oversized cable sweater (on me here) and this super soft sweater (OOTD upcoming). I’m hoping to get a new AE post up this week and will include photos of as much as I can!! I don’t normally love sweaters with words on them but this one just caught my eye.

Cardholders get an extra 10% off with the code BRCARD. | Picks: This time of year I’m attending 2-3 client holiday parties a week! Because I’m likely to run into people at more than one party, I need lots of different looks. For work events such as these Banana’s Glitter, Sparkle and Shine Edit has been amazing. These items work everywhere from the ballet to the botanical gardens to a hotel-hosted cocktail party. EXPRESS Everything is 50% off! (Even the new stuff.) | Picks: Did you see my recent OOTD post featuring two super-cute striped Express sweaters? I also recommend checking out their New Year’s Eve Edit. Personally I love this dress in multi, and this coat works great over it!

They turn it on and off randomly.) | Picks: I looooove my Harper Satchel (now $197) in green so much that I took the plunge on the mini version in navy with this promo. While it’s excluded from the promo, the Collection Pleated Midi Dress in Gold Lamé ($298) is a worth a mention because it is amazing on. Totally a holiday party showstopper. More J. Crew picks in this post but please note the promotion in that post has expired.

LOFT | Take 40% off your purchase with code HOLIDAY. Card members get an extra 10% off. | Picks: Three recent purchases I love include this flared-sleeve sweater, this tweed dress with purple fringe accents and these jewel-adorned fan earrings.

OLD NAVY | The entire store is up to 60% off with no code needed! | Picks: Old Navy’s Cable-Knit Crew-Neck Sweater (now $24) has one of the most flattering cable patterns out there. The Textured Crew-Neck Sweater (now $16-$18) is another winner that I’ve had in my closet for years. If you need a good long cardigan (who doesn’t??) the Soft-Brushed Super-Long Open-Front Duster (now $34) is the perfect choice. I own this moto jacket in several colors. Finally, I also love this sherpa moto jacket (it comes in plaid too!).

SUNDANCE CATALOG | Take 20% off purchases of $100+ via my link. Plus get a Free Upgrade to 2-Day Shipping! | Picks: Sundance Catalog’s Winter hats, scarves, gloves, ear warmers and socks make amazing holiday gifts; their cashmere is so soft and lasts forever (I own and love this sweater and this one too).

Great picks Roxy! I purchased the Whitby Sweater in the last photo of your post. It's very pretty and boho! I'm wearing it over leggings with tall boots.

I grabbed your link from the post, hope this works for the sweater: http://bit.ly/2S17e6D

They are getting a bit closer to what I'd love to see, but I'm not tempted to bite on this sale for some reason. I think it's because I'm not seeing anything that I'm truly wowed by quite yet and because I've been scared off by a few poor quality/poorly sized purchases in the past year. If they keep going in this direction though, I'm sure I will be making purchases in coming seasons.

    • December 17, 2018 / 9:09 am

I understand that Guest. There's no harm in holding back if you're still feeling unsure — hopefully the reports here will continue getting better and better!

This is a serious question…in so many stores…for ex. JCrew and Anthro. tops (and many of the dresses) are very short…I have often suspected that cutting a few inches of fabric from the bottom of the thousands of pieces that are produced saves them money…maybe not..??? any insights on this?

    • December 17, 2018 / 9:10 am

Personally I'd think it was more that boxy/short was the trend. I have noticed that retailers are offering less extra fabric sewn into hemlines. It used to be that you could make a dress or shirt an inch or two longer thanks to extra fabric but now they do cut very close, 1/2" or less.

You may be noticing that the trends this Fall/Winter are much longer silhouettes. I'm very happy for this shift!

Thanks for this post. Your picks are very helpful and that’s my biggest problem with Anthropologie, their website is overwhelming! How is it that they can have 7 pages of tops but only 1/20th of that selection in-store? I would buy so much more from them if I could try more on first. That said I did a place an order and am hopeful it works all works out.

I ordered — Roxy please make these your links so you benefit
The Sadie Fair Isle Cardigan http://bit.ly/2Qv8PVH
    The Alaskan Half-Zip Sweater http://bit.ly/2QvpJ6F
    The Llama Knit Cardigan http://bit.ly/2QxNPgV
Based on your recommendation I got the Mermaid Oil to try http://bit.ly/2Bnjibq

Will probably keep only 1 of the sweaters.

    • December 17, 2018 / 9:11 am

Thanks Lauren! I did update your links. Of those items you bought I'm most interested to hear how the Llama Cardigan works out! And I hope you love the Mermaid Oil.

I'm ambivalent about Anthro beauty too but you can't beat 30% off. I've been using this hair styling product for the past three months and recommend it highly!

hahahaha, I hear you. Every year, I'm like I"m going to save $1000 and just spend it on frivolous stuff just for ME with all the Christmas sales. And every year, it doesn't happen. But it's still a wonderful time of year to be with friends and I hope you have a great trip!
