Shop: A lightweight jacket that goes over your thumbs.

In the mood to get outdoors and move around a little? Or a lot? An activewear brand I love lately has a pretty sweet promotion ending today! You can take up to $50 off your Athleta purchase through tonight. I’m particularly loving their new arrivals. Use code SUMMER at checkout.

I’m getting back into triathlons after over two years off. In fact, I just did one yesterday in New Jersey. Triathlons require a mix of activewear for swimming, biking and running. If an item can pull double duty, even better! I found all the stuff I needed for Sunday at Athleta.

Firstly, I’m a fan of Athleta’s extensive swim line. They have a mix of cute tanning bikinis, functional one-pieces and active-friendly bikini tops. The Scoop Bikini ($59) for example is wonderful for any water activity from swimming to surfing or even beach volleyball. I wear it with the Shirred Bottom ($44), which also comes in a high-rise version. For the triathlon a one-piece is more practical, so I swam in the Fiore One-Piece ($108) which has a high neckline and is easy to slip out of after the swim.

Next up was biking in the event. I wore a pair of padded bike shorts I recently found on Amazon (these are also great and a bit shorter). I paired that with the Stripe Mesh High Neck Chi Tank ($44), worn over the very supportive Sheer Wrap Bra ($59). And of course, I wore a helmet!

On non-competitive biking days I absolutely adore the skorts at Athleta! From the Athleta May 2018 new arrivals, the Soho Skort ($59) is my usual choice for biking to work. The skirt portion is cute and feminine and goes with anything. The shorts underneath make sure I’m never accidentally flashing anyone from behind the handlebars. I often pair the skort with the Essence Open Back Tank ($49) and my favorite Athleta bra of the moment, the Trophy Seamless Bralette ($50). I love the breathability of the mesh paneling on this bra! Then when I get to work I’ll shower and change into my work outfit for the day. On Fridays this might be it.

Finally, the triathlon ended with a run. I don’t change out of my bike outfit because it would take too long. But if I did, I’d probably get into one of my training outfits like the Mesh Racer Run Short 4″ ($49) with the Transcendence Bra ($41-$49) and Essence Cross Back Tank ($49).

Part of the reason why I’m loving Athleta right now is that their items are easy to care for. I like knowing that I can throw any of this stuff in the washing machine and not have to worry about it getting destroyed. I air dry all of my athletic gear. Athleta is very body positive and shows their items on a true range of sizes. I appreciate that! And their stuff just so happens to be very cute! The Athleta May 2018 new arrivals are full of pretty items perfect for any activity from HIIT classes to hiking to yoga.

Below, my picks from their newest arrivals. Will you take advantage of the promo ending today?

Congrats on doing a triathlon! Great post! I hear so many good things about the swimsuits at Athleta. I also love Title Nine because their swimsuits are great for things like kayaking (love the boyshort bottoms).

Thanks Leah! I haven't tried Title Nine — I will give them a look too!

Title 9 has the best supportive sports bras if you are looking for something ultra supportive. My daughter uses them for riding.

I am a big fan of the casual wear at Athleta. The Santorini dresses are my favorite. Also there are a lot of options for us petite people. Sadly they are only online, but I often try on the regular size stuff at the store (such as pants which end up being too long) in order to determine which size I need then order the petite version online.

I also agree with Leah that Title Nine has a lot of nice things.

Yes I agree the Santorini Dresses are awesome! Fit nicely, not too clingy and perfect for throwing on over athletic gear or just wearing day to day. I'm excited to try the new ruched side dresses I have in the boutique too.

Do you think the petite bottoms work with larger hips and smaller waist? I've never really tried the brand before and hate to bother with returns.

I do not know. My figure is more straight up and down. There is very little difference in the size of my waist and hips. I do know I have tried on some bottoms that billow out in the hips because I’m definitely not an hourglass. But other bottoms fit me great. I’m sorry I can’t help more.

I am loving Athleta too these days, although I generally find that their bottoms work better for me than their tops. Any sense of what their Memorial Day promo has been? I’m hesitating over whether to purchase some things now or wait til next week!

    • May 21, 2018 / 3:09 pm

Last year they did 20% off on Memorial Day only. They may do the same again this year!

I LOVE LOVE Athleta!! Their stuff is great quality, actually much better than lululemon or other more $$$ places! Remember to use ebates also with Athleta! You can usually get anywhere from 2%-8% back!!

    • May 22, 2018 / 9:11 am

Yes! 100% agreed, and thanks for the tip on Ebates! Just so you know when you use Ebates I don't get affiliate credit here, so my vote is use Ebates when the cashback is high and use links here when it is lower. 🙂

Congratulations to your triathlon, Roxy, and perfect timing for me. I was just doing searches for bottoms when I thought I should check your blog, and voilà, your post.

I'm searching for bottoms for my cousin, who is has just been diagnosed with liipedema, and we both are looking for non-legging options with built-in UPF50+ that would work in hot and humid weather. Tall order.

Stella doesn't have much, but it looks like Athleta might with the better size and height range.

    So, thank you!

p.s. what is "workout to fro, studio to fro" ?

    • May 22, 2018 / 10:21 pm

Workout to and from? Did I write that somewhere in a space cadet moment??

it was in the product descriptions on the website. I wonder if it means that these items are not for getting hot and sweaty?

It just means it is an item to wear casually, such as on your journey to your gym or wherever. In other words, it is not a piece you’d actually wear for your workout. Usually the to/fro items are nontechnical jackets or such.

thank you, I guess I'll skip those then.

There were MASSIVE popbacks at Anthro this morning – the sale section was over 50 pages long! Loads is sold out already, but I was able to get a few good things. Hopefully they ship.

      My recommendations:

This Liebskind bag – it's a backpack but the straps come off and then it's a great shoulder bag: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/liebeskind-sak

These Splendid block heels. I have them in both colors, and love them. (there's also a flat version on sale over at Nordys. Those come in a yummy cinnamon brown) https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/splendid-barry

Ag demin jacket – SO soft. A bit snug in size: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/ag-robyn-denim

These, or any Silent D boots. One of the most comfortable, stylish brands I've even owned. I felt a little indulgent buying gold booties, but I wear these pretty much nonstop. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/silent-d-opena

Love Gas Bijoux, and these earrings are so classy: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/acomedia-beade

And whoever snagged this $350 corset belt for $40, I'm kind of hating you right now. 🙂 https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/lina-corset-be

Thank you! There are a lot of things that popped back. I am wondering if they had these stored in some warehouse far, far away. 🙂

I'm wondering if they will do an additional % off sale for the weekend. Loads of other stores having really good sales!!

I hope so! I ordered some Repetto ballet flats and would love an additional % off. I think that they only offer 20% off full price for their Memorial Day weekend promo as Roxy mentioned.

If anyone sees these in any of the stores will you please post on one of these sale threads?

    https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/schutz-ilkay-f

I have the blue in size 8 and they're too small and the black in a 9.5 and they're just a little too big. So if you can help me can find either color in 8.5 or 9, I'd be thrilled! I must've just missed out on them and I'm SO mad. Does Anthro reserve items in the cart if they're not sold yet? I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to keep checking the website. They had several sizes in stock but when I went to check out they disappeared. Frustrating.

Other than that, there was nothing else I really want. Great sale though!
