OOTD: The Fashionable Commute Outfit

This outfit post about the fashionable commute outfit is sponsored by Nordstrom. Although some of the clothing I’m wearing was provided by Nordstrom, all opinions are as always my own! Please read this blog’s disclosure post for more info.

The fashionable commute outfit featuring Blank NYC Suede Moto Jacket, WAYF Posie Strappy Camisole, AE Denim X High Waisted Jegging, Sole Society Selena Backpack, J. Crew Suede D'Orsays, LOFT Linked Ring Layering Necklace Set :: Effortlessly with Roxy

The New York City subway system is amazing for people watching! In some beautiful stations (and some really ugly dirty ones, to be quite frank) people from all walks of life join to make their way to wherever they’re headed that day. It’s one of the reasons why NYC runs through my blood like oxygen! I currently work in the Flatiron District and I’ve also worked in Midtown West, Soho, and Financial District. Each neighborhood has its own lifeblood, its own style, its own fashion.

Though heels are not recommended for the subway commute (spoiler alert: I often bring flats), I try to wear a fashionable commute outfit each day. This look? Put together with the help of the wonderful personal styling team at Nordstrom, the Westchester.

You may recall that a couple of weeks ago I held a shopping event at Nordstrom, the Westchester! Located just north of the city this store is delightfully large with three floors of shopping. I’m very excited to be working with the store personal styling team on several outfits this Spring and another event coming this Summer for the Anniversary Sale. A recap of my first event will be up soon; in the meantime, let’s take a closer look at this outfit!

Jacket: Blank NYC via Nordstrom | Top: WAYF via Nordstrom | Layering Cami: Free People
Jeans: American Eagle | Necklace: LOFT | Shoes: J. Crew | Bag: Sole Society via Nordstrom

I’ve been in love with the Posie Strappy Camisole ($55) for awhile! One of my girlcrushes, Rachel of Pinteresting Plans (love her Instagram too!), wears it often in fantastic ways. I realized that with the right layering cami underneath, I could totally make the top work for me even though our body types are very different ! It adds up to a fashionable commute outfit. Working with the Nordstrom styling team I put together a full look that stars the cami when my jacket’s off but blends together in a city chic outfit on my way to and from the office.

I received so many compliments on this fashionable commute outfit. In fact, on my Q train ride into work, I got into a conversation with a fellow busty gal about the trials and tribulations of making strappy camis currently in fashion work. Truly, no matter what your body type there’s always some trend or style that’s not designed perfectly to suit. Sometimes, like with this tank top + cami combination, a simple adjustment can make it work! So don’t give up before you try a few things! I’ll have another OOTD with a different color combo of this tank and cami later this Spring.

Not really sure how to fit some of this Spring’s trends into your closet? Or how to put together the classic items in your wardrobe in new and exciting ways? Do you want a fashionable commute outfit too? Even if you live nowhere near White Plains, the Nordstrom personal styling team at the Westchester can help you! They do both in-person and online shopping appointments and cover a range of styles to make sure you achieve your personal best outfits.

You can sign up for an appointment here. When you make your appointment be sure to specify The Westchester as your Nordstrom preferred store — you can search for them with zip code 10601. Tell them Roxy sent ya! I worked with Jessica who is amazing, and all of their styling team is wonderful. They listen to feedback and brilliantly pick and choose looks to match your aesthetic and budget.

This isn’t my first OOTD in the subway! Last year I shot three looks for Madewell in the new 2nd Ave Subway stations on the Upper East Side: 1 | 2 | 3. Also, don’t you love these jeans? Check out more about why American Eagle is my favorite jeans store right now.

Personally I just can't do ripped jeans. Or heels with jeans. But I love your top half choices. And the backpack.

I can understand on both counts! Ripped jeans are definitely polarizing. One of my girlfriends calls them money rippers, haha. But I am glad that you like at least half of the look. =)

Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your theme. Thank you
